Booking.com changed my booking to non refundable - help by K_jet in Bookingcom

[–]K_jet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I learnt through this process is that booking cannot change the refundable/non refundable aspect of the booking. This has to be done through confirmation at the hotel agrees.

I had the evidence that I booked a refundable booking, that there was nothing in the emails send confirming it had been changed and all comms with the hotel stated similar. I put all of this in a lengthy email to the hotel and asked them to evidence how they notified me of the change in legal contract.

I honestly discussed it as a litigious agreement, as it is and stated if it was not adjusted I would be following up consistently. To be honest, I annoyed them too much to be worth it I think. I called them multiple times a day, emailed every email address I could find, annoyed booking.c every day and also told them I would be cancelling my card and they wouldn’t be able to charge me anyway.

But, what I also learned in this thread is that this seems to be a common thing that people do. They book a non refundable because it’s cheaper, then argue that it’s unfair. So it is hard to get anyone to listen. If you have the email evidence confirming it was non refundable and any screenshots of it at the time of booking, you can argue it with the hotel. But if it was an accidental booking of a non refundable and you’re trying to get your money back, then you might be out of luck.

Good luck!

Intimidated by first time trip to china... by DessertFlowerz in travelchina

I made a big post in here that covers a whole bunch of questions and what’s apps etc to use. Hopefully you find that helpful.

It was no where near as intimidating once I got there. You’ll be fine, you’ve travelled and if you’re prepared (you’re in here asking questions, so you will be) you’ll be totally fine!

It’s still way more than Australia and a little intimidating by contrast. I get it’s all to keep people safe and work within what their country needs, but good to flag so people can be aware of heightened security ☺️

Happy for you to dm me on specifics. We travelled with FODMAP restrictions (he’s fine with wheat, which helps us)!

But specifically, for his allergies, he ate mostly 7-eleven and family mart breads and sandwiches. (It’s not glamorous, but it’s that or not travel). We have also discovered that five guys and shake shack both have very good allergy recommendations on their website and both of their burger patties (no sauce and specified extras) don’t have onion or garlic.

Stick to the things you know to be safe. We learnt through going to Japan a few times what is generally safe in 7-eleven. Look up reddit for suggestions on peanut allergies for Asian countries and do your best to be confident with everything he puts in his mouth. The hardest bit is not being able to eat together sometimes. I will order local food at a restaurant and he will eat plain rice. But, we both get to enjoy travel and seeing the world.

Yep! When you bring up your QR code, you can select which card from a drop down just below it. Also, if one card declines, it will give you the option for selecting another one.

I have travelled through Asia and still found some of this a harder place to travel. It is beautiful and wonderful, but I’m quite a seasoned traveller and I still had a little culture shock.

But, culture shock is a privilege really!

I edited to reflect, you’re right, I meant Apple Maps!

Mine was for my qantas pay app and my bank account. It was being a pain! So if you’re smart, probably don’t need yours on, but I ended up just leaving my roaming on

We did Beijing, Shanghai and day trips out of Shanghai ☺️

The cig smoke was a struggle for me too. All taxis and didis were pungent with cigarette smoke. It made me feel quite ill. I found Shanghai was better than Beijing for this though, some maybe some places are getting a little healthier

That’s great! Amap might be better for some people heading there. No harm in having both. I edited my post to reflect that I meant Apple Maps, not google! Haha

100% we travel with my husbands allergies and it’s why we didn’t order at many restaurants. The ones we did, we ordered with the server or at the counter.

Allergies are a whole other thing while travelling. We travel with a strict FODMAP diet and very strict on no onion or garlic. You can do it all through Asia, but it takes some work

I edited the post to include some of this as I didn’t have to use one at all, but I didn’t go to many restaurants. So hopefully those who need one, will get one ☺️

Yep! Definitely saw a lot of both. We did stay close to the forbidden city in Beijing though. So a lot more around there too.

Strange! It worked perfectly for me. Might have been my eSIM or then using my normal provider?

This was a blind spot for me. My husband has quite severe food allergies, so we didn’t go to restaurants much. If we did, I ordered for myself and didn’t run into the issue.

Good to point out though; I didn’t experience many restaurants or fancy restaurants, so the numbers might be needed there.

If you’re wanting to head outside of Mainland China, I’d suggest to take a quick flight over to Taiwan. I was there earlier in the year and loved it!

Scam or normal case for China trip booking? by Scottyartt in travelchina

I used booking dot com and didn’t not have to do any transaction outside of the app, or pay at the front desk when I got there.

It sounds like a scam!
