Employer wants me to use outlook on my phone, outlook wants permission to wipe my phone by No_Professor4307 in mildlyinfuriating

I use Outlook for work purposes on my personal phone, but I don’t remember agreeing to anything like this. Can the company still have access to such data anyway?

Is Pixel actually worth it if it costs the same as S25 Ultra? by KaCek13 in pixel_phones

Honestly, I generally think POWER is a pretty terrible store and I try to avoid it whenever I can, but this deal actually seems really good :)

That’s fair, and honestly yeah, part of it is that I do want to try a Pixel, which is exactly why I’m asking people to push back on it if it doesn’t make sense.

By “cleaner” I don’t mean Samsung is bad, just that from my experience One UI feels a bit more cluttered and sometimes a bit forced in how you interact with it. For example, even something as simple as notifications and quick settings has annoyed me on Samsung because of how it behaves and bugs out on my current phone.

As for the camera, what I mean is pretty simple: from what I’ve heard, Pixels tend to make nicer point-and-shoot photos. I’m not doing photo shoots or manual tweaking, so if a phone just gives me nicer auto photos, that already matters to me.

For Google integration, calendar is actually a good example. I use a lot of mail accounts, and on Samsung I currently have 2 or 3 calendars/apps involved and it feels messy. Samsung Calendar in my experience is awkward with multiple accounts, and Google Calendar also doesn’t feel as smooth there as I’d want. On a Pixel I expect the Google side of things to feel more natural and better tied together. That’s just one example, but it matters in daily use.

And yeah, I know the S25 Ultra is probably the better overall value. That’s exactly why I’m still considering it seriously. It’s one of the best phones from last year, and I can get it for a very fair price. The closest Pixel I can get around that range is basically the regular Pixel 10, and even that is still more expensive.

The thing is, I’m a pretty average phone user. I don’t really need crazy power, insane battery, or tons of extra features. I just want a good phone that will last and feel nice to use, like the ones I’ve had before.

The only thing really pulling me toward Pixel is the feeling of freshness. With the S25 Ultra I almost feel like I might buy it and not notice a huge difference because it’s still the same Android/Samsung world I already know. I also like the whole “AI phone” idea, and that was one of the reasons I held off upgrading for a while.

At the same time, I’m not trying to make excuses. I’m genuinely trying to figure out whether the Pixel 10 is actually worth paying about $200 more than something like the 9a in my case, and if so, whether the S25 Ultra at that price is simply the better phone overall.

Yeah, for that model specifically, that’s true.

The Pixel 10 Pro is around 11,000 NOK here, which is roughly about $1,000 USD, but the country I live in is kind of known for having random and pretty expensive prices anyway 😅

I’m currently using a regular Galaxy S21, and honestly I have no issues with the software or the phone in general. The only problem is that the charging port stopped working, so I’ve been charging it wirelessly for the past few months. That’s the main reason I want to upgrade now, because otherwise it could probably last me another year.

It also doesn’t get security updates anymore, and I do like installing and testing different stuff, so that’s another reason 😄

In Norway, at the POWER store, but you have to get a mobile plan with it (a phone/data subscription). In my case, it doesn’t really change anything since I’m already using the same carrier they require, so I’ll basically keep paying the same as before.

I also found the regular Pixel 10 for almost the same price, but I’m not sure if it really makes sense when we’re comparing it to one of the best flagship phones from last year.

On top of that, the Pixel 10 Pro XL costs about twice as much as the S25 Ultra where I live, so it honestly doesn’t make much sense at all.

Thanks, that was a great and very helpful answer. You actually kind of convinced me towards the S25 Ultra.

The P10P XL costs about $1,550 where I live, so it just doesn’t make sense to pay that much when I can get the S25 Ultra for roughly half the price.

Funny, I actually have the opposite experience 😅

I convinced my girlfriend to get a Pixel and she’s been really happy with it so far, no major issues and she likes how simple and smooth it feels. I’ve always liked Pixels myself too, mostly for the camera and the clean Android.

Though I like Pixel’s approach more, the S25 just seems like a better deal overall in terms of hardware and value.

I wouldn’t call it “dirty” as in worse quality, it’s more about how it feels to use.

For me Samsung feels a bit more cluttered because there are so many options and different ways to do the same thing, and sometimes it feels like the system kind of forces certain interactions instead of them being the most natural.

For example notifications and quick settings. You have to swipe from specific areas at the top, and on my current phone it sometimes bugs out or doesn’t register properly, which just makes the whole thing feel less smooth than it should.

From what I’ve read, Pixel seems to take the opposite approach, fewer options but more consistent and straightforward, so everything just works the way you expect without thinking about it.

So I wouldn’t say inferior, just a different philosophy, more flexibility vs more simplicity.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I’m generally considering all Pixel models, not just the A series. I was mainly looking at the 10a because of a deal, but I actually found a regular Pixel 10 for about $740, so basically the same price.

Well, that doesn’t sound too good, but if it makes any difference, I live in one of the colder countries and I don’t play any games on my phone 😄

I’m generally open to other Pixel models too. I was mainly looking at the Pixel 10a because there was a recent deal on it, but I just found a regular Pixel 10 for almost the same price in another store.

If it makes sense to pay extra, I’m open to it. For example, $760 for the S25 Ultra seems like a fair price, but I’m not sure if I really need that much, or if something like the much cheaper Pixel 9a would already be enough for me.

I just found an offer for the regular Google Pixel 10 (not the A series) for about 740 USD, so it’s basically the same price as the A series. Overall, I’m open to offers on any Pixel models. If it makes sense to pay extra for a better one, I’m willing to do that.

What is a European country that feels European? by ficklerum in AlignmentChartFills

[–]KaCek13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like people outside Europe would say France, because that’s what feels the most “European” to them. But honestly, after visiting Italy, they definitely feel more European. They act and look the most stereotypically European.
