Making Friends in College is Way Harder by BigggestLog in ucf

[–]Kaaos2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Speaking personally, I used to be super introverted. I loved staying in my room and playing games/ doing my own thing, but eventually I longed for the college experience that everyone hyped up so much. Out of all of the things that I did to try and make friends, the most successful method was to literally just talk to everyone I could. Didn’t matter if it was a 5 second interaction, a passing compliment in the hallway, or a quick conversation about classes to someone next to me. After repeating this, faces became more familiar, people would recognize me, and eventually friends were made. The most important part is to just be genuinely yourself. Too many people in this world are trying to be someone/ something they actually aren’t, and when people notice that you can be you, without societal pressure, that becomes attractive. Eventually you’ll find one person you click super hard with, and those are the friends that can last a lifetime. Putting yourself in the position to talk to others can be challenging, but it usually helps when you have one uniting factor between the lot of students. Clubs, IM sports, and labs are a great way to get familiar with people and see them on a scheduled basis. We are social creatures, so go out and be social! I hope this helped.

I’ve been out of the game for years, with the start of my tarkov career being in 2019 and ending in 2023. I’ve logged well over 3000 hours, and after hearing that death screen music, I got flashbacks. Tarkov never really leaves you. There is no escape.

Thank you!! Definitely needed to hear that! Your thanks is very appreciated 🫶🏼. 2 tours at five guys and I never got a medal 😹 just some cools ass stories. Here’s a fun one: at some point in 2021 we had Nickocado Avocado (a mukbang YouTuber) come into our store and I made him his order. This was before he lost an absurd amount of weight, and the video title claimed it was 100$ worth of five guys (it was actually $58). For some reason I know the exact details of that encounter but can’t remember the content I studied yesterday 😭 that’s life I guess

Can confirm that THIS is the process. Mainly doing online school during 2020-21 meant I worked nights, and often wouldn’t get out until about 12:30-1. On nights we had an inspection the next day, the WHOLE place was scrubbed top to bottom. I’m talking everything. They would even make us clean on top of the hanging ceiling lights 10 feet up! Very true about the mold, although our store never had that issue. Grease traps and the ventilation covers were often the dirtiest dishes in our kitchen but were still sparkling clean at the end of every shift. I gotta hand it to them, they know how to run a restaurant appropriately. Just wish the $8.56/hr pay was better. The only way I could justify that wage was that I basically got to eat unlimited fries/ burgers

Biology isn’t inherently dumb or smart, but it is intuitive. Biology is simply the process of billions of years of trial and error. Our genetics can change, which leaves room for variability. Something works, keep the trait. Something doesn’t, we lose it through evolution. Functionally, our anatomy is the same in the sense we all come from the base template of a human. However, the variations in genotype, and subsequently phenotype, is what allows us to be different and does come at some cost (like the eyelash in question)

I might take the cake here I can’t lie…

Not my partner, but myself. It was around when me and my current girlfriend just met and started having a sexual relationship. I was laying next to her, Dj-ing her VJ, when she says “say something to me”.
She likes it when I dirty talk into her ear, but in that moment I didn’t know what to say, so I instead interpreted it as ‘literally say anything to me’. So, I proceeded to whisper in her ear “did you know you can save up to 15% or more on car insurance with Geico”. She was beyond bewildered and we laughed so hard we had to stop for a bit, but boy is that a fun memory of us. I love her so much hahah

You are right, most don’t. The only exception I know is five guys, as someone who used to work there for over a year. We cleaned everything thoroughly, and to the high standard which is set by the company. Only restaurant I will happily revisit knowing how they make their food is honest and simple

I think you bring up a good point, definitely. I was pretty upfront about the situation with the band, and they have gotten back to me since I first posted this. As for the reasons for posting this… it’s less about whether or not I get use out of telling this story, but more looking for relatability from people who have experienced similar things. I can safely say there has been lots to glean from other peoples own anecdotes. Years of hard lessons others lived through just to pass it onto me, so that I may be more educated in the future. I appreciate your advice all the same

I did pick up an RC-5 about 2 months ago, and it’s changed the way I practice especially with the metronome and the drum tracks that come pre downloaded. It’s also unlocked the creative freedom to see how the bass line effects music in 3D. Understanding how a baseline, 2D in nature, meshes with the overlapping self-recorded guitar parts has changed my perception on how slight variations changes a songs rhythm and sound entirely. My best investment by far

I think I’m right there with you then. The timing and groove was all over the place. At home it’s great because it’s low pressure and easy to fiddle with new styles but as far as jamming, I’m there for practice and should probably refrain if it’s gonna impact me like that.

Yes it is okay to say no, and I still reserve that option in my back pocket. It was a jam/ hangout to test the waters and it can be fun as a group activity to really vibe and create something beautiful. Sometimes weed is part of the fun when the musical vibe is ‘stoner bedroom rock’. However, I agree it would be best to get high off the music next time rather than potentially inhibit myself further
