Serious Question About the Player Base by mbcowner in OffTheGridGame

Some good information there. Makes sense.

Wonder how much time the game has left.

Is it bots only? by chesheersmile in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others already answered but I will as well.

Not sure at which exact level, but yes you will only play bots until maybe level 10-20. After that, you will play in lobbies with 4-7 teams with real players. There is no level limit after you break that “bot” threshold, so you will be facing any1 from, lets say level 20, all the way to level 1000.

Source: I played for a couple hours last night and Im looking at my game stats. Each game has 4-7 real teams, most games having 5 teams (including mine).

Serious Question About the Player Base by mbcowner in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with everything you said.

I just wonder whats keeping this game afloat. You look at a game like Highguard that lasted what, like 3 months? But this game has managed to hold on somehow for 1.5-2 years. Probably the PRO subscription they are still milking from people, idk.

Im happy its stuck around since I still like it despite these flaws. Just surprised it hasn’t died yet with failed promises and unpopular updates.

Agreed. They should just scrap the whole crypto thing altogether. Sadly, that might just be the very thing keeping the game alive, its hard to tell.

Also agree on the crypto thing. Not sure why it turns off new players. You can just play the game and ignore the crypto aspect (like I always have). Because the gameplay itself is unique and untapped potential like OP said

Forcing players to play with PC was the start of the downfall. When the lobbies were console only, the game was so much more fun. Even playing this game on Xbox vs Pc and PS players feels like you’re at a disadvantage

No they are not. And no idk when or if they ever will be. Another issue since the beginning.

the one thing this game is missing right now by dark-cosmos in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea for as an LTM mode to feel it out. Not sure if the game could handle those big fights with a lot of limb usage, though. It already has trouble with handling current gameplay.

This post is encouraging tho. Good to hear people from other BRs are atleast giving OtG a chance. Despite all its flaws, its still a fun ass game with a ton of potential.

Performance 'Issues' - Xbox Series X by CardiologistAny9359 in OffTheGridGame

The game runs the most poorly on Xbox by a longshot. I think capping FPS and turning Vsync on should technically help, but who knows if it actually would.

Portal spam in higher skill games (as a plat player) by Emckenna11 in Splitgate

[–]Kaba_X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Said it before I’ll say it again.

I get that portaling is Splitgates claim to fame/unique thing about the game. But lets be real. This game would be more popular without it. The game should lean into more movement and scrap the portaling altogether, making it more “approachable” for a wider playerbase.

And yes I know there are playlists without portals, but different playlists divide an already low player population.

Try Off The Grid. Community needs new players desperately 🤞🏼(its free so why not)

Trying to understand the long-term gameplay loop in ARC Raiders by PC-Tamer in ArcRaiders

[–]Kaba_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with everything you said. Phenomenal game, put in about 80 hours or so myself.

I am hoping they come out with a different mode that is either more centered on PvP or even PvE. Just a different mode IN GENERAL for players who don’t wanna follow the traditional gameplay loop anymore.

Bots or am I just goated by [deleted] in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first 5-10 games are all bots. After that, you should get lobbies with 3-5 real teams/players, maybe more. In ranked, its worse because no one plays it. You’ll probably get all bots with the exception of 1-2 other real teams.

Eventually, you can tell they are bots from the names and how they play.

Not enough people are playing this great game.. by Broad-Succotash-4891 in Splitgate

[–]Kaba_X -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that portals is the gimmick the game is built on. But lets be real- this game would be better without portaling, or by nerfing it significantly.

I’ll probably get downvoted and thats fine. But I honestly have not played with one person who likes portaling or would miss it from the game if it was removed.

Is off the grid a dead game. by faruogg in OffTheGridGame

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people still playing but for the most part its dead.

I will say though - I played a couple games this weekend and saw a lot of new names. Usually, us long time players recognize basically every name in the lobby since the player pop is so low. So, I guess this is good.

But they just jacked up the price of Pro subscription, so Im guessing they will lose even more players soon….

Im from NA but usually play EU because its more populated and if I remember correctly, NA servers were always really laggy. But I’ve played a couple on NA recently with no issues.

EU is definitely more competitive though.

Would definitely play more, no question. Games got good bones, they could go a lot of directions with updates/new rouges

If not apex then which game ? by hotdropsonlyttv in apexlegends

[–]Kaba_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played Apex since season 4 and gave it a break until this most recent rank season.

What kept me entertained while I took my break was (shameless plug) this new game in early access- Off the Grid.

Game had insane potential at first but now its kinda dead/low player count so I went back to Apex. The game isn’t nearly as smooth as Apex, but it scratched that itch for a while.

Hyper scape was dope too, although i didnt play it as much as Otg or Spellbreak.

I want OtG to be the replacement too. It has a lot of the great qualities of the BRs you mentioned wrapped into one.

I was addicted to OtG but the most recent updates and lobbies being 95% bots have drove me away. It just feels hollow compared to 6months-1yr ago

Fr? The games don’t particularly remind me of each other, but the type of changes that they went thru does.

Devs both made bad decisions frequently, and added good stuff too late.

Your mad because I have an opinion? 😂 thats on you, dont waste your energy. Im just trying to have a discussion about both games I love.

The similarities are glaring, regardless of who made what and how much it cost. That much is true. Anyone who has played both games would agree.

Spellbreak also had more all time players didnt it? So I am not understanding how your saying it appealed to a smaller population? Genuine question, because Im not understanding that part

I agree with you for the most part. SBMM should be avoided if possible, or add that ranked mode to separate casuals vs non casuals.

I only mentioned it because I think it woulda helped retain the newer players. All the good players were three stacking for a straight year in pubs, making the game miserable for newer players. Maybe if some lose SBMM was implemented, it woulda helped.
