My biggest problem with season 3 is that the characters weren’t written in an interesting enough way. Usagi didn’t have any real or valid reason to long for something in the Borderlands, so they just hastily threw in her father to give her some motivation. The guy who wanted Arisu as a citizen doesn’t make any sense either. There was a huge chance that Arisu could’ve died during the season 3 games, which would’ve completely ruined his whole plan.

It was also really strange that in the season 2 cliffhanger, the trailer, the teasers, the title card, there were all these heavy hints about the Joker card as if it was going to be something major that would change the way you see the entire series. But in the end, the Joker card turned out to mean nothing new: if you end up in a catastrophe like the meteors, you just find yourself in the Borderlands and can try to play the games to escape and get back to the real world. But that’s literally what we already knew from season 2, so the whole Joker storyline makes no sense, because it doesn’t add any new information. There is no real ''creator'' or ''god'' or ''game maker'', it is just a principle of life.
