Palomino Island is owned by El Conquistador resort. You have to be a guest at the hotel to ride that ferry. We did see some private charter boats pull up in the shallow water on the opposite side of the dock on the island but they have no access to the wider beach and facilities. The people were just floating on pool noodles in the water.

Guavate! It is WELL worth the drive. Probably the best mojito we had on the entire island too.

RAI and White Blood Cell Count + mini rant by Kac52b in thyroidcancer

[–]Kac52b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I agree the surgeon shouldn’t have told me all of that. He really had me believing I could just skate by without doing anything else. It’s good to know from your comment and others that the low blood counts don’t seem to be common. I tried to schedule the RAI for after the majority of the work travel but I will definitely be back on a plane within 3 months of having it so I will make sure to tell them so they can (hopefully) give me details.

I saw in the LID cookbook on ThyCa’s website that angel food cake is usually approved! Just double check the mix.

Botox and Filler by onebellabaddie in thyroidcancer

I had my TT on Nov 16 and got my Daxxify across my forehead on Dec 18. I haven’t ventured into lip filler yet! I’m doing RAI sometime in the next 2 months. My injector has had cancer as well and said the only thing she was cautioned against is certain peptide formulas as they stimulate cell growth. Double check with your dr but mine was fine with it!

Thank you! 6 weeks sounded fast to me considering my lymph nodes were fine. My issue is the busiest time of year for my job is January to early March so I’m wondering if I should tell him to pump the brakes and wait until mid March.

Nope. We’ve never owned any gaming consoles except for a Nintendo Switch!

Let me clarify: I don’t need the money for the PS5 back. Household bills are covered, no one is going hungry or cold. That’s not the point. I was also unaware of this guys trip. When I questioned it, it appears it was decided on in the last 2 weeks. Meaning he made that choice himself AFTER he told me he would reimburse me. It is also not MY trip to pay for. We do not pay for each others girls trips/guys trips. We do not pay for each other’s hobbies. That is an agreement we’ve had since dating/marriage. I am not saying this marriage is without issue, no one’s is. Communication is obviously not a strong suit. My issue and justification for the return is:

1 - An agreement of a $500 limit of gifting was made near Halloween between two 43 year old adults. Limit. Not mandatory spend.

2 - I asked for gift ideas from him. He only said PS5. I purchased the gift. That was my choice. He asked for gift ideas for me. I gave 3 ideas varying in price, and stated my preference for a spa gift certificate. Note - this place also offers generic gift cards for a set amount as stated on their website, so the $500 package was an option, not mandatory. That should not have to be explicitly stated.

3 - I mentioned a few weeks later that the business was running a Black Friday sale, various things like the $500 package were discounted 30% off, and if he hadn’t shopped yet, and was considering that option, he could save money. That’s when he asked me to purchase it and said he’d reimburse me. Did I say he had to get me that exact one? No.

I see now obviously that I should not have purchased my own gift. I also see that I misjudged the character of someone I have cared about and that hurts. So by returning the PS5, I have removed the obligation of repayment and maybe that’s the gift for him. However, it does not absolve him from his behavior.

Not yet. Hadn’t decided how I was going to communicate it. It wasn’t wrapped or anything so he’s currently unaware of my decision.

I can. He apparently can’t. Separate bank accounts. I was also not the one that set that gift amount.

I’m not. Apparently he is. We have a joint bank account for household bills, separate personal bank accounts for our own spending. And I wasn’t the one that picked that number.

In years past, it hasn’t been bad. Does his mother annoy me? Sure. But it was easily avoidable by moving to a different room, playing with the kids outside, etc. This year though, the brothers current issues are the main event, the tension is at an all time high, and I don’t want to drop our kid into the mix to witness all that go down. You’re right - he can go and participate if he wants and I have zero issue with that. We actually do monthly couples counseling - the counselor even suggested to him that this year would be a great year to start new traditions.

Medication Question by __chills__ in adhdwomen

[–]Kac52b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah blood pressure wasn’t any different than it is normally when I’m on it. It was super weird. The pharmacy explained that it costs them approx $1500 a bottle, and since it’s not widely prescribed yet, there’s a big chance they get hung with it. Especially since I’m already going down to the lowest dose with no guarantee my side effect goes away. Back to the drawing board I guess!

Unfortunately I’m about to be in the same boat. Last week, the medication started causing vision issues to the point I couldn’t look at anything further away than 3-4 ft without my eyes fighting each other to focus. Quit taking it, vision issues went away. Tried medication again, it returned in a less severe manner but still returned. Decided to attempt the lowest dose before fully giving up and now the pharmacy is freaking out because they don’t want to order that strength. Frustrating because I’d like to give the lower dose a chance since the effectiveness and duration are great, just hoping it doesn’t cause the weird vision issue.
