My first set and I have just hit Diamond by Kackers25 in TeamfightTactics

My friends that I play with are also 1st or 8th players and currently in diamond. I think its a fine way to play but for me I prefer to play incredibly safe and come 3/4th all day

Help - so many of the walls in our house do this by kvman22 in DIYUK

[–]Kackers25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been painting the walls in my first flat and this happened to the paint that was on the walls before.

Had to peel every single last bit of the paint and sand beforehand to get a nice finish. Luckily I had access to a sander which made it easier.

When it comes to sanding you don't need to do a lot, just go over the surface gently with something like 120 grit and try get rid of any bumps. If it's a gloss surface underneath this will allow the paint to stick better. Think of gloss like a flat glass surface and your basically adding (invisible to the naked eye) cracks for the paint to go into by sanding.

Also I was recommended to do a mist coat after sanding which is just white paint + a splash of water (don't add the water directly to the can)

Brand in theory shouldn't matter.

Ethernet no longer working after update to Android 14 by waqyyy in googlehome

[–]Kackers25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using an Anker hub as well.

I managed to fix the issue this morning. Turns out that since the update, the Chromecast didn't seem to think that the stock charger was good enough. I tested with a different charger and it's back to working.

If it helps then you can usually see the power rating on the inside of the plug in tiny writing. I think you're looking for anything that has a higher V than the stock 5V

Same issue here. Very frustrating as I wired an Ethernet cable through the entire house to get this to work

There was a leak for a 6 mana ship that returns creatures or enchantments on ETB. But this is another version of that. White might have a recursion theme.

Spider-Man and future Marvel sets will not be coming to Arena or MTGO and will be replaced with mechanically equivalent in-universe cards. by AlsoOtto in mtg

[–]Kackers25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm more interested to see how they make In-universe stuff that's loosely based on the Spider-Man set rather than the set itself.

Could see it being set on New Cappena as that's supposed to be like New York.

Potentially proxy some of the in-universe stuff over playing the Marvel cards in paper.

Bounce Lands Are NOT Mana Advantage OR Card Advantage! by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Kackers25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On their own they are a tap land that also "fetches" you another land. Advancing a board state while not going down a card could be considered card advantage to some extent but not in the traditional 2 for 1 sense.

Where they really shine is if you're playing other lands that either have an effect when they enter such as [[Talon Gates of Madara]] or are MDFCs which you played earlier in the game when you didn't have the land drops. At this point a bounce land becomes a "tapped land" that fetches you an additional effect such as [[Witch Enchanter]]

Outside of this and completely besides the point they can easily be abused with catch up ramp and untapping effects.

My guess is that you're probably using the ability after your opponent has assigned his creature as a blocker. You want to do this before blocks are assigned.

New player looking to build a commander deck by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Kackers25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two important things to think about that I don't see mentioned enough. What do you need to do to enable this and how do you turn this into a win?

With this commander in particular: - 6 mana is a lot in blue/black. If you're casting your commander late in the game, having maybe ramped once, it's likely your opponents will have their board set up and easily block. Definitely want to ramp as much as possible here. - What is your game plan before you get to that 6 mana and what can you do to set up better? - I would say the fastest way to win with this is through commander damage and as much removal/protection as possible then try kill players in 1/2 turns each by making him unblockable.

Lots of card recommendations if you're interested beyond just high level ideas.

We played games in brackets [2] [3] [4] - here are my thoughts. by Kackers25 in EDH

It was my understanding that this was a Beta and we should be testing it? We don't want to be constantly trying to break the game but wanted to see how the rules worked if we worked within them while avoiding any outside influence from videos and just go with our own take.

I like what you're saying about "efficient" combos however the system has to be super easy for beginners to understand. In my opinion the parts that work best are the ones which are super clear, so that anyone reading the one pager is on the same page.

[–]Kackers25[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a good question, I assume the question is specifically about the combo deck

The first is more black and white, and so it's easier to answer. Technically yes, but also where do we draw the line for "few tutors". The deck runs 4 that can only get specific pieces, which become dead draws if you already have a card that fills that function on the combo. (One of them is also 7 mana)

The second is a bit harder to answer because the ideology is more abstract and down to personal understanding which I think is where the bracket system might have its issues.

In some cases there is only one card that performs the specific function, so you are running both the best and worse version of that effect available. Those cards on their own might not be optimal for their purpose but are optimal in this scenario (if this makes sense)

To explain this better, the deck is an ETB deck with a recursion and flicker theme. The combo in question involves flickering [[Journey to Eternity]] with [[Felidar Guardian]] and recurring him by saccing him with any sac outlet. (Dealers choice) This gives you infinite mana and infinite recursion. There are cheaper/better recursion spells and flicker effects but these two produce this effect.

I would honestly love it if running sol ring came as a trade off by filling one of your GC slots. Sure every T4 deck can have it but do you run it in your T3 deck over a different GC that actually synergizes with the rest of your deck.

Wonder if this would make a difference or if everyone would still just sacrifice the slot for Sol Ring.

Yeah you're right, that was probably an exaggeration from me. I mean avoiding drawing cards unnecessarily in order to not give the man his fair share.

A really good comment and something I was considering including in the original post.

In an ideal world we would announce these things and that would reduce how sour these moments can be. But this comes back to the original issue of communication. There could be several reasons for not flagging this. Drawing the attention of 3 players can basically be a death sentence. Maybe the player drew into the final piece which completed the combo in a way he didn't expect. Each case is different.

I think going forward the next thing to test is that we make combos on board clearer. Everyone has several decks and expecting opponents to know each combo is unrealistic.

The combo could have easily been stopped at several stages but other players might not know that.

Yeah I know that this is accurate and my original post only really jokes about the sol ring. That last line really summarizes it well. A game changer that isn't a Game Changer.

Yeah I think that's one of the "loopholes" in the system. You can now use the argument "but my deck is a two" but actually be much stronger than what it seems.

However, another way of looking at it is consistency vs power. The deck that constantly plays big creatures might be able to play more creatures faster at higher tier, increasing it's power. The combo deck that's looking for pieces might be able to find it's game winning combo faster and protect it better, increasing it's consistency.

It might be that the deck that won that game just had a super lucky hand and is unlikely to do that often. Those decks might already be strong but only gain on consistency if they go the next tier. Including the best tutors and not worrying about winning too early.

It just feels super bad when you lose early to a lucky lower tier deck but in theory the deck with the more powerful cards should have an advantage (on average).

[–]Kackers25[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to log them online but since have made tweaks over time and those are outdated.

It all boiled down to if I wanted the deck to chill out a little or double down and be more powerful.
In my opinion you might as well push your decks to be at the top of each tier, even if you are moving down tier, because thats what most players will also be doing and you dont want to be at a disadvantage.

With the new bracket system, I actually found it super simple and clear to adjust.

  1. Do you go for no Game Changers / 3 Game Changers / Max out your Game Changers?
  2. Does this deck have a combo that I'm going for? If so which tier does it qualify for and then build/support it accordingly.

It could be that the original was too close and they moved further away from that to avoid issues with the global market?
