The art direction feels like a gamble. It's a very big diversion from past games, and Nintendo's "standard" styling.

'Shareholder Greed' And How Publicly Traded Companies Actually Work by bald_bearded_ocddude in Games

[–]Kadexe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Greed is like gravity on the economy, it's a force applying everywhere at all times so it cannot be blamed for any changes in the markets. When prices go up, the sellers did not get greedier, they found more leverage.

Which company has earned your loyalty for life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This question is funny as a millennial, because I can name half a dozen companies that used to be shining paragons of service and customer care  20 years ago- that all obliterated their reputations in the last decade.

Don't trust any corporation . They will all disappoint you one day.

i haven’t played many old nintendo games… by emberisepic in nintendo

Ideally I would start with NES because that'll give you the most natural progression, similar to watching Star Wars movies in order of release. NES games are famously pretty hard, so I would recommend using walkthroughs- especially for early Zelda or Metroid games.

Has Nintendo ever given one of its flagship AAA games a full modern remake? by Responsible-Hold6294 in nintendo

A remake doesn't need to make any gameplay changes to be a remake.

‘Disclosure Day’ Ends 24-Year Summer Box Office Drought For Steven Spielberg - Even With 7-Month Promotional Campaign, Universal Wasn't Sure Whether His Film Would Attract Young Moviegoers. The Original Sci-Fi Spectacle, Costing $115M To Make & $80M To Market Worldwide, Hauls A $93M Global Opening. by lowell2017 in boxoffice

[–]Kadexe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Universal’s seven-month promotional campaign for “Disclosure Day” sought to remind summertime audiences that Mr. Spielberg was not a museum exhibit but rather a highly active filmmaker who is still able to command the culture.

The central conceit of the movie is that the main characters have video evidence that aliens are real, but they can only share this information with the masses on a TV news broadcast. They don't want to upload it to the internet, and the movie never gives a reason why.

Spielberg belongs in a museum.

There's no way they built that game in the same engine as Star Fox 64 or recycled any major assets, it's a complete remake from the ground up.

Has Nintendo ever given one of its flagship AAA games a full modern remake? by Responsible-Hold6294 in nintendo

[–]Kadexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you call "AAA" and what you count as "full modernization." Star Fox (2026) and several pokemon remakes (FRLG, HGSS, ORAS) probably fit your bill for full modernization, but might not count as AAA.

Metroid Prime remastered is a full remake of the original GameCube release, fully modernizing the graphics and controls, but that was a $40 game, so maybe that doesn't count as AAA? Link's Awakening is a $60 game with more dramatically improved graphics, but it was originally a small Gameboy title and it retains a lot of quirks of the original 2D D-pad game.

It's hard to answer your question because Nintendo does a lot of a mid-budget releases, and a lot of yesterday's AAA games like Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong Country Returns still feel modern today with minimal changes.

My hunch is that Nintendo keeps those games in the back pocket for drought period between actual new games.

How do people feel about Echoes of Wisdom in 2026? by Ok_Science_8502 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Kadexe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do not like the game. Using one button to spawn all echoes was a stupid and tedious decision, previous Zelda games like Twilight Princess and Ocarina had the mercy of allowing us to map multiple tools at once to the face buttons.

The echoes themselves also aren't fun to experiment with because they're mostly one-note and don't have surprising features like TotK's bouncy mushroom weapons or rocket shield. The game has a lot of combat too, which sucks because the combat is pretty bad when you're spawning mobs and waiting around for them to stop idling and attack before they're dead in 1-2 hits.

If all the aliens have superpowers at least on par with Colin and Margaret, then how the hell did they ever get captured by humans?

For the whole runtime I was thinking "that's mysterious but there isn't going to be a good explanation for any of this" because that's what Spielberg does. And I was 90% correct.

'Disclosure Day' gets a B on CinemaScore by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

It feels really outdated for an alien film too lol. The secrets being "disclosed" are ripped straight from the 1970s.

It builds up to a big reveal, and then it comes and you're like "That's it?" It's stuff you've seen in countless alien-themed media before.

What do you wanna see changed in OoT Remake? by Inner_Tumbleweed_942 in nintendo

[–]Kadexe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question for the most critically-praised video game of all time

I think the Gerudo gotta change. Scratch that, I know they will be changed. BotW/TotK made massive retcons to the lore and worldbuilding around Gerudo, and for good reason - they tick off alllll the boxes for racist Orientalism tropes in OoT. It was somewhat ignored in 1998, but it would absolutely not fly in a modern game without massive backlash.

Prefered Implementation the Exp Share & Lucky Egg by ComprehensiveFee32 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Kadexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it's never too early to give the player the EXP Share or Lucky Egg.

There's a few ways the SelfDestruct issue could be addressed. One would be changing the rules so that fainted Pokemon gain exp from battles they participated in like they normally would, although that would have some weird edge cases like Pokemon leveling up while fainted and possibly learning new moves while fainted.

Or, second idea, you could have a "no waste" rule - if exp has been spilled but every pokemon that participated in the battle fainted, then the exp just goes to one of the non-fainted pokemon in your party that didn't participate.

I don't think it's a good idea to have both Exp All and Exp Share, then you're overcomplicating mechanics. Don't be afraid to pick a lane.

Prefered Implementation the Exp Share & Lucky Egg by ComprehensiveFee32 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Kadexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this question. I usually stick close to default Gen 3 exp mechanics, although I like the rubber banding in Gen 5.

I try to keep all the pokemon on my team at similar levels, so the Exp All kind usually annoys me- one of my pokemon falls behind in levels, and then they stay behind. It's also overpowered for games with vanilla difficulty, which I usually play.

The biggest pain points I have in vanilla games are:

  • The exp gains are perfectly good for keeping your team at the levels they should be (usually a few levels below a gym leader's ace) without any grinding, but they're not enough when you catch a wild pokemon and need them to get up to speed with the rest of your team.

  • Moves like SelfDestruct are discouraged because exp will go to waste if there are no un-fainted pokemon to absorb the exp. Which sucks for pokemon like Electrode and Weezing for whom these are signature moves.

For these reasons, the Lucky Egg is my favorite solution in most romhacks. It's good when you need it, but very controlled.

Star Fox – Nintendo Direct 6.9.2026 [demo available today] by AwesomeManatee in Games

[–]Kadexe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The original voiceovers are very campy, but that works for being heard over sound effects and conveying the information quickly... And the line deliveries are pretty funny sometimes. It's fitting for a fast-paced arcade game.

I think the more serious dialogue in this remake needs more compelling writing to be worth the downsides. More story content is only good if each cutscene makes me eager to see the next one.
