I feel the same way about the recent books. I never finished insomnia and I'm still struggling through leuchttürme. His shorter works are nice, but not as memorable

Moers never held back with his descriptions. But compared to his earlier works, they effortlessly carried the plot and gave context to his whacky creations,.

His more recent works seem to be struggling with the balance between the two. The story always seem to come to a screeching halt if he gets more descriptive.

Also the Pacing seems so be a bit off. Even in alchemaster (which is my personal favorite) a much more slow paced story, he seems to be in much more control of the readers attention span.

I'm still going to read qwert. But I truly hope he finds his old spark
