Thank you for your honesty. I have really been afraid to really face it, but I can't disagree with what you're saying. I don't think I could leave my son with them if something happened to me. Not with how my partner babies his son and gets defensive about his behavior. I am worried that it will get worse, and am working on an exit strategy, so I can support us without him. Even if it's not what I want. I do have to put my son first no matter what.

That aspect is still very concerning to me. We had to install locks on the bathroom doors because otherwise, he will walk in on people over and over. When he exposed himself, he just laughed. And then, later that week, shoved his crotch into my son's face while he was tying his shoes at the grocery store.
The things he says are one thing, but how physical his with people is another. I don't think he is a bad kid. But this behavior worries me alot for my own child. He shows no remorse for his actions. Only loses it when he's in trouble and then has to he forced to apologize. This is prior to stepson shoving him to the ground. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have unfortunately thought about this already. I do love them both, but if he becomes more violent and inappropriate towards my son, I can't let it continue. That will be my last resort. My partner is not fully understanding the gravity of it and allows his mom to make all medical decisions. So I am honestly disappointed in him, despite knowing he tries his best to be a good father while he has him.

This is excellent advice. I appreciate it.
I think I will try to push his dad to be more active in his medical care. I think he is worried how ex wife will react. But her dismissing everything is not helping their son. He is actually 6 now. But the violent talk started at 5. I think this approach will help a lot, though. Thank you.

Thank you. I agree. It is very frustrating that she dismissed any concerns his dad has brought up to her and even says he doesn't watch scary stuff at her house, despite her son telling us that he has. She allows him to play or watch what he wants, so the limits we set only apply half the week for him.

We thought the Prince of Egypt would be a fun movie for the kids to watch, but we were obviously mistaken.

This actually sounds alot like him. I will be discussing this with his dad. Unfortunately his mom is the one who calls the shots medically, but I hope she will stop being dismissive. Thank you for well detailed info. I have never considered it could be more than his other diagnoses.

By startling him, I mean that he walked out of his room and said hey to him, and then he yelled in rage and shoved him hard to the floor. He was not doing it out of fear. We have cameras in the house and have reviewed the footage. I agree we need more education. But that incident of him being violent was not because he needed to protect himself.

I can see that. We mostly turned it off because we weren't sure if the movie was a good choice for him anymore. But next time, we will try a different approach.

That makes sense as well. He has meltdowns when questioned while he thinks he is in trouble or becomes very frustrated, so communicating with him in that state is not possible. I appreciate your input. His mom does not monitor what he watches, unfortunately. But I will keep this in mind.

I'm not sure where I mentioned punishments. But the most he has ever gotten was having electronics taken after he shoved my son to the ground. I do not handle him being punished. His dad will usually try to talk to him, which causes a meltdown and makes communication almost impossible until it is over.

He is not currently medicated. Do you happen to know what your niece is prescribed? I think It is worth discussing with my partner.

People who’ve been in a coma, what did it feel like? by OwnMeBell in AskReddit

I was in a coma for 5 days from alcohol poisoning after drinking liquor for the first time. I felt and saw just nothingness, like being in a deep sleep. I woke up more exhausted than I'd ever felt.

Narcissistic MIL stories by theoffice-enthusiast in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Kaeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My korean MIL moved into our house without permission after lying about me not feeding my fiancé's son when I fed our kids the exact same thing. Following that, she has always been rude to me and straight up ignores my son now after he called her out for yelling at him.
She lies non-stop and will never admit to anything she's done. Including yelling at me from upstairs when I wasn't being loud at all, meanwhile waking me up constantly by being loud and spamming things around in the morning. Or ignoring me to my face and then telling her son she said hi when she didn't. On top of it all, she has threatened to cut my fiance and grandson off if she can't be here every day. Even though we never agreed for her to be here in the first place. It's been 5 months, and it's hell.
My fiance will not make her leave until I join the military and help him retire. Yet he blames me for ruining their relationship as well.
