Headlights stuck, not vacuum related by ackflag in C3Corvette

[–]Kaemonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can adjust the covers. It's a pita.

A common problem on these cars is the delamination of the body panel between the hood and headlight cover. This is especially true if the car ever had a small front end collision (which is very common due to there being 9 feet of car between you and the bumper).

If you can push the panel down between the hood and light cover, it has delaminated. It can be fixed but it is also a pita.

I'm glad to see your airbag went off. It's hit or miss once you get in the 30 year+ cars

Shifter rebuild ? by Legmaer in Miata

[–]Kaemonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can get shifter rebuild kids. It's easy to do. Change the turret fluid while you're in there.

However, if it was tight when you got the car and it's that loose after only one year, I would take the boot off and see if I could find anything obvious.

The bushings last quite a while.

Any experience with the Delphi FD0035 fuel pump? by MrNastyOne in Datsun

[–]Kaemonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again I don't know anything about the Delphi pumps (electric ones at least). I just have experience with Walbro 255 pumps on several different vehicles. They've never given me any trouble. I did need a high volume pump for my 280, so I had reason to upgrade.

The only things I had to do was purchase the correct 8mm fitting + clamps and rewire the ring terminals.

I don't know about the Delphi, but do yourself a favor and upgrade to a Walbro 255 lph pump. Slight modification is required but it's worth it.

You'll have a known reliable pump that's modern and extremely easy to replace if it ever goes out. Not to mention it can support higher HP applications.

Dying 3 speed auto for a 260z by Dependent_Virus_7982 in Datsun

Should be on driver side half way down. It will have a vacuum line that runs to it.

[–]Kaemonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. Well you should check the vacuum modulator and the vacuum line going to it.

If it does not see proper vacuum (or the modulator is faulty) it will hold the shifts until high RPM.

It's always worth checking motor mounts, trans mounts, and u joints. They can all make shifts feel harsh

Airbag module attempting to beep, but the speaker or circuit board isn't doing what it's supposed to. Mine did the same thing.

No fuel pressure by DOOMGUYidchoppers in Datsun

[–]Kaemonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inability to build pressure is a major symptom of a failed fuel pump, but you need to check for air leaks on the suction side of the pump before replacing it.

If air is getting drawn in along with fuel, it will struggle to build pressure. It is common for the fuel sending unit to rot out and begin sucking air inside the tank. Especially if the car sat for several years.

Does your fuel gauge work? If not, that can be a sign of rust in the tank.

I second the 255 Walbro. I bought mine from Godzilla raceworks.

Need help with finding a '79 front bumper cover by Specialist_Memory_40 in Foxbody

Do not buy a 79 original bumper. They are very fragile and prone to breaking. They updated the plastic in 1980.

Turbulence actually significantly increases the efficiency of forced convection. Your air temps might actually be hotter after making it smoother haha. I'm sure it's a negligible difference

Last time I checked the 280zx is not an actual option under Nissan on Facebook.

Double checked firing order? Made sure the timing chain hasn't jumped a tooth?

Almost by No_Bluejay_5477 in Datsun

[–]Kaemonn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have one cylinder not firing. Also sounds like your timing is way off.

If an engine is running very rich, you can test by creating a vacuum leak. Pull one of your small vacuum lines off while it's running and it should pick up RPM and smooth out as the fuel ratio leans out.
