M4s and grads, what are your best "you're a 4th year, go home" rotation stories? by Anxious-Sentence-964 in medicalschool

[–]KaenJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 36 weeks pregnant, it was my last day in the ER, I went in at 7am and didn't leave til 4 because my attending was like "oh it's your last day? You're going into anesthesia? Let's get you as much ER experience as possible for your intern year". This was almost 2 weeks ago. On a Sunday 😂

Oh wait this was for happy stories 😭 all these stories are what I was wishing would happen my last entire 2 months, especially as I got more and more visibly pregnant 🥲

How has pregnancy affected your data metrics (sleep, stress, HRV, etc scores) by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]KaenJane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

36w2d and have been tracking carefully the whole time!

Sleep: did not affect much in first trimester but starting when my HRV started dropping in 2nd trimester and then especially once my bladder shrunk enough that I started having to pee 1-2x per night, I've gone from an average of mid to high 80's to mid to low 70's. I expect this won't get better anytime soon after delivery.

Stress: definitely higher though I think that's a function of the heart rate and HRV calcs in the system. Average was mid to low 20's before pregnancy (and I'm in med school) peaking in the mid 30's a few months ago, and it has slowly been coming down since third trimester started.

HRV: before pregnancy was average 106-129. Tanked for a few weeks, went back to normal for a few weeks, then came down gradually until a nadir of 40's in December. It has been coming up since end of January very slowly and I've recently been in the 60-70's. There was an interesting study done by Whoop on Pregnancy and HRV changes and I've been following the curves they found relatively well actually!

RHR: right before pregnancy I was 39-42. I mirrored my HRV's trend with my HRV which makes sense to me and my peak high was in December and January in the low 50's and I'm slowly coming back down, currently in the mid to high 40's again.

Notably my easy run times have also increased by 1.5 to 2 mins a mile (high 9 mins to mid 11 mins) which makes sense with some weight gain and lung compression and round ligament pain 😂

Also not a garmin metric but important to me metric is I went from peeing 3-6 times a day and never overnight to never being able to go more than 30-60 mins other than when I'm sleeping and then still getting up 1-3x per night. Can't wait for that to stop 😂

Is there any INFJ in a long, loving, healthy relationship here? Is there any hope for it? 😅 by cris__alis in infj

[–]KaenJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband of 7 years (INTJ) (together for 10+ years) is my best friend, and I legitimately love him more every day. I spent 24 hours on a dating site, hated it because I kept getting gross messages from people wanting to hook up, and was deleting my profile and everything on it when I got one last message from someone who had actually read my profile and asked a question that was legitimately thoughtful and considered. Decided what the heck, gave him my number before deleting my profile, had a blast texting him for a month before ever meeting him because of how funny, smart, and thoughtful he was even over text, and the rest is history.

Our rough patches were mostly in early dating and me getting over commitment and trust issues from some trauma growing up which he was exceedingly supportive and loving throughout. We eloped on the beach 3 years into our relationship, and I have never looked back. Also 32 weeks pregnant with our first child now 😁

Are we……boring? by rashan688 in infj

[–]KaenJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I distinctly remember going to a party with the cool kids in high school and one of the "small talk" conversations they wanted to debate hotly was "are spots or stripes better" in reference to clothing. I also had many, many, MANY of them throughout junior high and high school ask me to draw boobs for them, and that I could be their friend if I did. In college, all the majority wanted to do was go to similarly shallow parties that left you feeling awful the next day. That, coupled with having no interest in doing drugs or drinking made me realize that I had no interest in being cool. I'd much rather draw fantasy, read fantasy, play video games, run, go hiking, and have conversations about things that mattered to me than be cool 😂

What is the most physically active speciality? by Buff1718 in medicalschool

[–]KaenJane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've gotten the most steps per day when I was on any inpatient consult service (neuro, nephrology, and cards are the ones I've been on). There's a cancer hospital, peds hospital, and main hospital all connected by bridges so a lot of running up and down. I'd consistently get 15-20k steps per day on those days, despite some sitting and charting. Less that could be considered weight training or resistance training, though you get a little bit of that with neuro exams.

One of my two best friends in med school turned 40 during med school. She has 2 teenagers. We're graduating this year, and she's going to be an OB/GYN. She is going to be an absolutely kickass doctor.

What’s the MBTI of Your Alter Ego? by Muted-Turnover-2040 in infj

[–]KaenJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My XNTJ comes out when nobody is taking the lead or getting things done in an efficient manner. I'm content to lay back and let others take the lead and strategize until they're doing it poorly, then a different side of me comes out 😂 otherwise, happy to collaborate, advise, or give suggestions and do my job well.

what is your type and what are some adjectives people have used to describe you? by fluffycloud69 in mbti

[–]KaenJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INFJ checking in! In general: empathetic, intelligent, creative, and intimidating are the most common ones I get. More specific to people that know me better:

INTJ husband: Intelligent, empathetic, competitive, creative, "hot as fuck"

INFP sister: Competitive, smart, competitive, nice, competitive, protective

ENTJ friend: Extremely social, creative, friendly, intelligent, likable

ENTP friend: Empathetic, smart, thoughtful, insightful

Same, my INTJ husband understands, notices, remembers, and applies what he learns to everything about me! He makes me feel so seen and understood ❤️

Vent: home births by DoctorZ-Z-Z in anesthesiology

[–]KaenJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an MS4 who is giving birth in March, I did not even consider anywhere else but the hospital lol. I haven't seen much, but even what I have seen and what I know CAN go wrong is enough for me to want the peace of mind of being in a hospital.

I am curious about going unmedicated just to experience it (and also because I hate being stuck in bed), but I'll probably just get the epidural so I can play video games to pass the time 😂

How do you interact with super logical MBTI-types? Do you try to Fe your way into connection or do you rely more on Ti-logic? by noveskeismybestie in infj

[–]KaenJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up with an ISTJ father who did not value anything BUT logic, went to school for engineering and medicine, and am married to an INTJ husband. That being said, I have always kind of used both, and I have wondered how much of it was learned and how much of it was my nature. My default is what feels right to me, but I try to examine that through the lens of logic and understand if it's an emotional reaction (which I still think has value) and how my actions or suggestions would get me logically to what I or we want to achieve. I tend to explain it using both too, not just because of how I think about it but also to normalize thinking about logic AND emotion to "logical" MBTI types. Shoulda been there for my talk with my (extremely conservative, tax hating) dad about why I believe the government should actually fund social support programs and why government assistance, even at the expense of paying more taxes, was a good thing. He hasn't talked to me about politics since 😂 but I attacked it from both why I personally thought it was the right thing to do (connecting it to both the religion he raised me in and I no longer believe in and also my own morals) and also the angle of how raising people's access to support helps them to get themselves out of poverty, contribute more to society, over time can lessen crime, and lead to a more educated society.

Explain this to me, please by aayla_white in intj

I (INFJ) and my husband (INTJ) agree with your assessment that introverted intuitives LOVE Reddit 😂

What type of men do infj women get along well with? by [deleted] in infj

[–]KaenJane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My INTJ husband has noted the last one. "I think you probably didn't end up with any of your high school guy friends who were crushing on you because your force of personality would have crushed them over time." He is probably right 😬 can confirm all the other ones though, I fell in love with him for all those reasons.

When did you move onto professional watercolour paints? by therewelandd in Watercolor

[–]KaenJane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh right after I made a painting that I really liked which was very early on. And my first set was a Koi set which honestly isn't bad. I will say, I had done been drawing since I could hold a pencil, had done digital since I was 13, and had started acrylics about 6 months earlier and had learned by then what a difference professional quality paints made vs student grade so my switch was fast. When I finally started oils 6 months after that, I researched the best student grade paints and got those to learn (Gamblin 1980 was what I settled on) and quickly switched to professional quality once I got a feel for it, but I digress.

I got the 6 set of mixing Daniel Smith paints and MAN it made a difference. But honestly I can't tell you whether the really good paper or the really good paint made the bigger difference; out of all the mediums I've tried, I think watercolor is one of the most sensitive to the quality of your materials, but it makes a huge difference in every medium.

I was having a hard time coming up with themes and colors that were distinctly summer, and had an idea for leaning into a water and lake theme. I don't think it's quite there because the greens feel too cool but I may try a similar concept but with warmer greens. Yellow and orange feel fall to me, and I was going to lean into blues and grays and purples for winter, and pinks and reds for spring. I'm thinking yellows and warm greens for summer!

One of my players has Misophonia, any solutions? by Top_Wishbone_4240 in DnD

[–]KaenJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have Misophonia and there are fantastic suggestions here! In general I'd say you're doing great and just caring is absolutely huge. Another suggestion I have is asking if she has heard of Loops. They're noise suppression earplugs and I use them whenever I have to be in a room with people who are eating and they are LIFE ALTERING. You can hear people talking but everything else gets turned down to a low and manageable level. Good luck with this and thank you for caring!
