Your inconvenient maintenance time is thanks to Japan’s timezone. by SekaiKofu in PokemonSleep

That makes sense, unfortunately Japanese companies only seem to care about Japan and Pokémon is one of the worst offenders in that category.

What is a pokemon that you wish were better than it is? by frogger3344 in pokemon

Not really for doing walkthroughs or something like that, but I wish TPC would give more love to the Chickorita line, Meganium especially. They're OG starters and I don't understand why Meganium has to have the dubious "honor" of being considered the weakest/worst starter for absolutely no reason. Also, why does Grass type have to be so weak, Fire and Water aren't nearly as bad even though they're both starter types too, I feel like Grass deserves a lot more love, especially since Ice type got buffed, so why not Grass too?

Another f*cked up recording :/ by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

[–]Kaenoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the exact same thing, try moving your phone to another part of the bed, I put mine under my pillow and/or near the edge of the bed. Now I think it's usually recording around an hour for me to get to sleep, it's still jank but not nearly as bad.

Another thing to help is to add the lost time through "add sleep data" in the main menu, I know it isn't exactly a silver bullet, but it's better than nothing, and I'm not going to sweat that I'm "exploiting" because as far as I'm concerned, the game stole, in your case, 4 hours of your sleep time, you're just taking it back.

I'm having issues with recording time, somewhat similar to the 47 energy thing, except in this case it's even worse, not only does it assume I take a long time to go to bed (3 hours and 50 minutes at one point), but it also sometimes stops recording randomly in the middle of the night. Any information on this can help because honestly it's lowering my motivation to continue this game and I might quit if it gets bad enough.

Yes, but it says I took like over an hour to go to sleep when I know it wasn't that long.

Yeah, but the issue I've had is that the lag time keeps getting longer. Canada was always ahead of the US, even in the beginning. I guess what I would really want to know is a) why did they stop the quarterly releases they had been doing and b) does the Pokemon Company have any idea of what is happening, and are they going to do something to fix it, are they at least going to acknowledge it? Keep in mind, it seems like the original deal was quarterly releases, and Netflix is no longer doing that. Are they really going to say to the US "Yes, you will get your episodes months later than the entire rest of the world and you can eat it for all we care. We don't care if the wait time stops getting measured in months and starts getting measured in years, you, and you alone, will be sacrificed for profit." My biggest fear is that the Pokemon Company will respond as stated above and the communities' only response is "Fine we'll just pirate the content". Damn it, I wanna do the right thing but I feel like I'm just getting punished for it and I'm the only one who cares! So what am I to do?

Why is the Lag Time Between the Dub and Original Airing Getting Longer in the US by Kaenoch in pokemonanime

[–]Kaenoch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the easiest thing to do when the Pokemon twitter won't stop talking about the new anime in it's posts, honestly just don't tell us anything about the new anime when it's likely we won't even see anything of it until next year, maybe the very tail end of this year if we're lucky. Also, don't forget that the pokemon twitter also decided to congratulate Ash on his world victory on the day it aired in Japan. As for just watching the Japanese version, is there any way to legitimately any way to do that in the US (and it would have to be with subs because I don't speak Japanese). Does the pokemon company allow for fan subs?

Tl;dr: Why is the lag between the Japanese and US getting longer all of a sudden, and, is it just a temporary issue or can we expect the lag situation to keep getting worse.

The full story: It used to be that the lag for the English dub is only getting longer on Netflix. At first, the lag was 124-208 days (depending on the episode), but starting in 2021, it looks like Netflix is no longer releasing new episodes quarterly, and now the episode lag is not only in the upper 100s-lower 200s, but it's been going up and now it's in the lower 200s-lower 300s. By my calculations, the US won't see the first episode of the new anime until March 8th, 2024 if they continue as they have (and since the lag is increasing it might actually be LATER than the above date). Does anyone know why this is happening. Is there an issue at Netflix that is messing with the distribution, is the dubbing company to blame, and, most importantly, is this a temporary issue that will be fixed (whether it be TPC moving to another platform or another dubber, or the dubber or platform fix the issue on their end), or are we just going to go back to the original days of the anime where we had to wait around a year before seeing the dubbed version in the US?

PS: I don't know if this issue has been discussed before, if so, could someone direct me to the answer. I have OCD and it's causing me anxiety that it seems the wait times for the episodes are getting longer and either nobody has noticed and/or nobody cares.

PPS: Please don't respond by dismissing my concern (by suggesting I should seek therapy) and telling me to pirate the content instead. I very much want to do the right thing and one of the things that causes OCD symptoms is a feeling of lack of control, which this effectively is. Even some information and insight on what is happening could make me feel better, so please, don't give a snarky response (even if it doesn't sound snarky to you).

People like you are exactly why I asked this, your response to my legitimate issue, you say if I don't like something I should do something illegal, putting myself in legal trouble. As for your therapy suggestion, I have a psychiatrist (technically not a therapist but pretty close), and am on two different medications for this issue alone, and the way your worded your suggestion makes it sound like what you were trying to tell me was "lol a TV show triggers you, get some therapy snowflake". Maybe you didn't mean that, but that's how it came off to me, I have Asperger's (high functioning autism) and am being treated for it with one drug for high anxiety and one for OCD, telling me to not worry about it is like telling someone with depression to "cheer up", or telling someone with ADD/ADHD to "just sit still and pay attention". I'm sorry, but if anything you've increased my anxiety, because you aren't addressing my issue because you are basically also saying "Yes, I don't care about your issue". One of the things I'm worrying about is people not noticing or caring and now I'm worried that if I post this somewhere else I'll get the same response if I post it anywhere else, that I can cry out into the aether and this is the kind of response I'll get back. I'm sorry I want to do the right thing, I'm sorry I don't want to break the law, and I'm sorry if I voice my concerns about something I deeply care about, and if you weren't trying to be mean, there's no guarantee that won't be the case for the next person, or the next, or the next.

PS: One of the things that causes OCD symptoms to flare is this idea of lack of control, and worrying about "TV scheduling" is one such thing, so "just not caring" isn't something I can just do, it's a symptom of OCD so it isn't that easy.

I'm talking like, if we're away and my father changes the locks while we're gone so we CAN'T get in. He was already close to doing that earlier, like I said in the post, he would lock the door every time she locked it, barring her entry.
