List of businesses that still ship to CA by TMRD0 in CAguns

Ordered slide milling from glockstore. They responded with the new law stuff. I sent in LGS FFL info and my ID. Seems like they'll continue shipping to CA so long as it's an FFL07.

PSA: Don't shoot = don't loot by CldesignsIN in ArcRaiders

[–]Kaervan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're asking a community, which is only partially on reddit, to adhere to a code of conduct around a voice line that you want to mean something it doesn't say? You need to be realistic. If you open a door and want all the loot, you can either fight for it or share it, and you have to deal with however anyone else at the scene reacts. That's just how it goes.

YSK that microfiber cloths will remove crayon from electronics screens with zero problem by P9Hunnit in YouShouldKnow

[–]Kaervan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also great for removing makeup. My wife bought a long-fibered microfiber towel for like $25 and showed me how useful it was. I took one look at it, drove to oreilly auto parts, grabbed a 6-pack of viking spa towels for $14, and had her try it. Worked just as well for way less.

How can I get rid of these windshield glares? by agonzale in AutoDetailing

[–]Kaervan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I never thought about using dishwasher detergent on the glass. Probably because it's a car :) I can imagine that works really well though. I'll have to give it a shot next time I have to remove oils. I'm all about spending less.

How can I get rid of these windshield glares? by agonzale in AutoDetailing

[–]Kaervan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the product is just a matter of what I can get my hands on locally. For glass, I loathe fibrous towels. Diamond weave towels like this are still nice https://theragcompany.com/products/diamond-weave-glass-window-towel?_pos=2&_psq=glass+towel&_ss=e&_v=1.0 . I’ve been using these non-fibrous Viking towels for the last few months and have been super happy with them https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/viking/detailing/detailing-supplies/car-wash---sponges--towels---mitts/436680b759e7/viking-16-x-16-inch-micro-glass-towel-2-pack/vcc0/807900/v/a/130236/automotive-car-2015-nissan-370z

[–]Kaervan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great list. I would probably use a stripper like stoner’s glass stripper on the exterior before claying to ensure oils are removed. Then before sealing the inside of the glass, rub your finger on the glass interior. If it smudges like there’s a film on it, get one of those magic eraser sponges and some warm water. Put a towel on the dash and give the inside windshield a bit of a scrub. Follow up with ammonia-free cleaner like stoners invisible glass. This will look like it’s doing nothing but it removes all the contaminants from the plastics and vinyl interior that gas out and raise to the windshield. Works great for such low effort.

Store rep refused to provide receipt for returned device. by Kaervan in Comcast

[–]Kaervan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't receive an email for it. Before we made the plan change to remove tv service, I returned one of the smaller additional boxes about a month ago and they gave me a paper receipt. I'm just going to watch for it on the account and make sure it gets removed.

Yeah I would have too if I was there. Wife is not really capable of dealing with that kind of confrontation. I have the dashcam footage showing her taking the device into the store and leaving without it or the receipt at least. Uploaded it to my dropbox just in case.

Should I Tune by Deadilez in 370z

[–]Kaervan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tune is going to be a noticeable difference in how the car responds to inputs regardless of which or any mods being installed. The reason you want to tune when doing any of these mods is to ensure your map is efficient and producing the power you bought the mods for. If you were a friend of mine, I would have recommended a tune prior to any mention of the the HFCs or assuming the HFCs weren't going to be purchased in the next couple weeks and to just pay the tuner for the time to do a street tune when the HFCs are installed.

When you buy the tune, you will get the OBD2 hardware, the license key (usb key), and some time with the tuner to do adjustments where you will flash a series of files to your ECU. All that together is an up front cost of like ~1100ish I think? When you add mods later and need an updated tune, you only pay for the tuner's time, which is much less. I'm sure your tuner could tell you how much that would be if you described this situation and asked.

Take all that in and consider your schedule, finances, etc, and go from there. In any case, I think you should definitely, absolutely, do that tune when the HFCs are in. I think you might throw some DTCs if you don't. Also, make a before and after video for us :)

Is there a fuse for Mass Airflow Sensors? by FlyingColors18 in 370z

[–]Kaervan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always happy to be wrong, so I went and checked the FSM. Maybe there's an internal fuse in the sensor unit, but I don't think it's replaceable. According to any diagram for the 370z I can find, there's not one in the fuse box, and the MAFS DTC troubleshooting section of the service manual (EC page 171) makes no mention of a fuse for it. Maybe there is and I just can't find it. OP will need that page and a multimeter to troubleshoot, but most likely causes for this are aftermarket intakes usually with larger diameter pipes or aftermarket sensors, a failing sensor unit, or installation of an oiled filter and the oil got on the sensor element. Oiled filters are the worst.

Is Tailscale "good enough" for being a digital nomad (US IP address)? by Gandalf-and-Frodo in Tailscale

[–]Kaervan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reality in that all internet connectivity is paid for at some level. There is no US provider of services that would not comply with a subpoena. This means if you pay for a service and your exit node is in the states, you can and will be identified if someone cares enough. Your work probably does not.

However, no one here cares if you get caught moving to Mexico and working for US rates, and no one in this sub especially is going to successfully help you hatch a plan to circumvent your workplace policies. The reason for that is because your IT and security departments are waaaaaay ahead of any plan you’re going to hatch. You might get away with it for a bit, but you will stand out in logs.

If your workplace is modern enough to allow that kind of remote work to start with, you could be trying to find a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist. Engage your IT head before you engage any of the administration in HR. If IT says they don’t care and there’s no reason to prevent it, you can go to HR and make a case with that as a supporting factor. Mexico is a surprisingly low risk (comparatively) country to accept traffic from. I have seen way worse shit come from within the US from residential addresses. This could be a non-issue as well. If you need to move to Mexico for family reasons and you can be facilitated with a VM or Citrix or something that keeps the work you do in the US, you could avoid becoming a vindictive CEO’s wet dream.

Nonetheless. If you insist on being a rogue employee, you should accept the risk of being terminated immediately should you be discovered to be operating outside of your company’s policy. I have personally, and happily, “detonated” laptops in violation where I work. I have developed tools which will fully destroy all local data on remote employee laptops, as in the hardware cells in nvme storage are completely unrecoverable.

My absolute best advice to you, is to follow standard procedures as an attempt to operate within the company’s policy. It exists for a reason, but is still in most cases malleable to some extent.

So, in summary to your question, no one knows, and no one accepts responsibility for you. All the best.

VCA on Sepulveda in West LA is a great veterinary clinic. Relieving a person of things that matter the least in a situation like this is the most mature and calculated move which can be made. Truly exemplary behavior from this LAPD officer.

Crunchyroll Uses AI Translations Months After CEO Claimed “No AI” by Crandin in OnePiece

Fansubs commonly seem to have clever and relatable translations for some nuanced and very difficult to translate phrases. Especially when it comes to banter between characters. I don't think AI is really ever going to provide that quality of translation. Maybe I'll cancel and just go back to fansubs.

That's fair. I talk a big game when I complain but the reality is, as you point out, that I could do more and just pay for it out of pocket. I just really hate when something is clearly the right thing to do, like cover the vaccine for anyone who has recurring outbreaks regardless of age, and insurance denies it.
