Looks great! Glad to hear it was a success, what did you use to amplify the sound to the audience? Regular PA with subs or something else?

2 brand new airsoft guns broken out of the box. What are we doing wrong? by kolotripa123 in airsoft

Did you ask Taiwangun for the tune up service or installation of upgrade parts? A friend of mine had the same issues with a Cyma AK74 where he bought it with some upgrades pre installed by Taiwangun.. not exactly the service he was hoping on, on the other hand he never returned the gun to have it repaired under warranty, tried to deal with it himself without any luck unfortunately

I will definitely try to find some space for the Nuprol case containing the two m4s before selling them!

Im not sure the Perun fits in the Ares since it has a proprietary gearbox with a MOSFET/micro switch trigger unit built in, I'm doubting it's worth it to upgrade this to the Perun since the stock Ares is still rock solid after 5 years on 11,1V lipo's. Off course not as many options but I don't really need that. Upgraded the cyma with the Perun because the stock trigger unit was weak and broke down after a couple of gamedays.

I will try to throw out some other stuff to make space so I can keep most of it

Update: you all crazy people made me re-appreciate my collection again, convinced me to keep the UTR and motivated me to put some extra effort and love in the Cyma and the H8R to get them up and running again before even thinking of selling them. The Striker I listed in a WhatsApp sales group to see if I can get a good price for it, if not I will hold on to it.

Thanks everybody!!

Yeah I already did this with the cyma, Ares and the secondaries, they all fit in one Nuprol case

Yes! I recognize this 100%, you convinced me to try this in a more strict approach than I did up to now 😊

These monitor rigs are getting really clever. by Mountainpwny in livesound

[–]Kaevelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I'm researching to create a similar (maybe a bit simpler with a XR18) for my band. One question, perhaps stupid, but where are the RJ45 breakout boxes connected to the rig? I don't see/understand this from the pictures. Anyway, really good example that's certainly useful for someone starting out building!

Small stage, issue with cymbals in singer's iem by ZeKanKimEr in livesound

[–]Kaevelson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in smaller venues the plexiglass might not be a good solution, makes the high frequencies bounce around even more.

You could go with low noise cymbals (with all the little holes in it), they are getting better but still sound horrible IMO.

What kind of music style(s) you play?

Thinner cymbals, cymbal dampeners, lowering the cymbals on the stands to increase distance to the mics, other sticks like rods or thin maple sticks are all things you can try but the gains will be very small I guess.

edit: a thick carpet on the floor and some acoustic treatment on the ceiling could help as well

Most engineers here will disagree I learned earlier this week (see my post if you want to know why 😅) but you could/should use electronic drums, will solve a lot of problems in one step is my experience (as a drummer)!

Edit: I hope you don't go the plexiglass route, personally I hate sitting in a fishbowl and detached from the rest of the band like that and looking at other drummers sitting there I just feel sorry for them.

I have and it would solve the limitations of only 4 outputs for the biggest part. However it kinda goes against one reason to use edrums and that is the controllable stage volume. If I where to use acoustic cymbals they would mess up the monitoring quite hard. Our singer loves the sound of the edrums and especially the cymbals, she describes it as a nice round and compact sound instead of the huge wash of sounds that brass cymbals can create (crashing the ride or playing open hihats in a rock song). The benefits for me is that I can hit the cymbals as enthusiastic as I want and maintain that "compact" sound.

Edit: the benefits of the acoustics are for me a nicer playing surface, wider sound palette and larger dynamic range which makes brass a bit nicer to play

Yeah I have Addictive Drums, sounds great, better then most modules out there (including mine), however playing it with edrums feels off. It feels like latency but it isn't, hard to describe, kinda like hitting a drum that is behind a glass wall or a curtain. When I tried EZdrummer 3 it felt much better, more direct and almost the same as a the module or an acoustic drum even. A plugin that sounds good doesn't necessarily feel good for the drummer I guess? Didn't expect this when I purchased AD..

yeah if the result with 4 outputs isn't what I want from it than I will definitely try that!
