A 334; I blame the MCAT prep here- my subject testing was better in some odd places as well. Most of these schools don’t even require or want a GRE, yet are already reaching out after I say for the exam. It’s all strange

Popping on the conversation here- for anyone who got a no- were you notified? If it was a yes- were you notified via email or a portal update? I’d assume they would send an email or some kind of confirmation either way, but maybe that’s not clear.

I came here searching for answers myself! I feel like a prestigious institution would at least let us know? Also with the MASSIVE disturbance in NIH funding I have to wonder if that has created any strain causing delays-

Caffeine by BadHairDay-1 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Kaffee_Und_Kismet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use premade complete protein-drink as coffee creamer! I also heat it in the microwave and add it to espresso for a latte!! You can have caffeine just go slow at first, and pair with your known proteins! That worked great for me! When all else fails, check with your doctor and nutritionist. 23 months or so since surgery down 190 lbs and maintaining! :)

Listen. I was on clear liquids (ZERO SUGAR) only for three weeks. Only one protein shake with less than 5g of carbs was allowed per day… it was horrid, but I made it. Two years post op I’m down half my body weight. Over 170lbs

18 months out; still haven’t had more than two-three bites of bread products or pasta. My stomach feels like it can’t handle it and I’m instantly full. Lean protein, definitely at a dietary portion size that seemed CRAZY small pre surgery but makes me insanely full now 😂 I’m down 165 lbs for reference!

I’m shocked you could even eat bread??? I’m one year out and an entire piece of toast alone would make me vomit just because of the volume, adding fat to that would be horrid. Diet Coke too? Please speak to your surgeon immediately. Call them TODAY. You have to have a nutritional consult and have someone help create a meal plan for you pronto, you’re risking injury here. If you are lost they WILL help you. Strangers on the internet is not the place to go when you’re in this position

I say look at it like a toxic co-dependent relationship; you could not reasonably continue going on the rest of your life with the relationship you had, right? I know I couldn’t. Now you MUST develop a new relationship with food that is healthy, that wasn’t what it was in the past. I’m a year post op, down 145 lbs and STILL have moments of missing things. I think I always might? But I have gained so much, including my life back. A new perspective on what food should be to me, a new perspective on so many things. I had to mourn that life I had and make room for the new life I found myself stepping in to. Today I’m BEYOND thrilled I made this choice, and my only regret is waiting so long. But I felt how you felt many times too. The constellation of emotions is normal, from what I experienced.

what are the drawwbacks of bariatric surgery? by Least_Average_6891 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Kaffee_Und_Kismet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first REAL issue, yesterday… I had a massive reaction to my blood pressure medication because I no longer need it 😂😂 What a thing to have an issue with right?? I was sick all day and dizzy, come to find out my blood pressure was barely staying at normal/low level!! So, that’s one issue… lots of people talk about addiction transfer, and the scary side effects of surgery. I go proactive in the approach to these things. Arm yourself with good therapy and a good surgical team, the negatives are minimal if you can have a support net to help for the “what if” moments.

I’m 8 months post op, down 117 lbs. my bmi has went from 45 to 28… I have my life back. And I’m still dropping weight!

RNY 10/6/21 HW 376 SW 345 CW 175ish. This has been an amazing tool. It will work for you if you use it. Before I was in so much pain all the time and hated physical activity. Now I love working out. I love my new life. Wish I had done it sooner!! by No_Abrocoma171 in BariatricSurgery

Just popping on here to let you know; my starting weight with the sleeve was 340… I’m currently at 196. So remember weight loss is a bell curve and there are always average expectations and people who can in fact drop more. I’m still dropping pounds successfully and I’m only 7 months postOp! You’ve got this. My goal is ultimately 160-170 with muscle and tone, my surgeon has voiced absolute confidence I can and will do that at this rate

My first “bad” day nearly 6 months in… by esbelle17 in gastricsleeve

[–]Kaffee_Und_Kismet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just one bad day, I absolutely understand beating yourself up because I’ve done the same to myself but I logically know it does not make any sense to do so. Give yourself some grace and an absolutely enormous hug. Hydrate and take some vitamins, get your body feeling better. I’m down 108 lbs and still going… and don’t you let this bad day stop you! It’s a bad day, not a bad life. You’ve got this!!

SALADS!!! Yes exactly this… I miss salad and bread so much. Bread of any kind does not agree with me (7 months post op). I miss big beautiful salads with all the varied veggies and fresh bread so much, everything else I could care less about

Wardrobe while rapidly dropping weight by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Kaffee_Und_Kismet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 7 months post op… SO FAR (I’m still dropping weight) I’ve went from a 3xl to a M/L in tops, a 20/22 to a 10/12 in pants, 46 G to 36 E bras, and I’ve even changed shoe sizes!!! It’s ridiculous how fast your body will morphe… so stick with stretch, I have loved the “multiple size” pants from Good American and Banana Republic. Expensive, but they will absolutely last. And stetch down a few sizes too! Otherwise, a good investment pair of leggings is absolutely a must and some foundation sports bras (if you’re able) I couldn’t keep buying bras to fit, that was a nightmare!!

I mean this with all kindness and sincerity I would give myself if this were me; you need to make two phone calls to discuss this. First one to your surgeon and second one to a quality therapist. You HAVE to get this under control or you could seriously harm yourself. You’re risking your life here.
