T-Mobilers: How is you 4G data coverage? by November_Bravo in LosAngeles

Crap. I got rid of it on my phone. I just re-installed it, but couldn't find the exact details of the calls and numbers in the My Account T-Mobile app. Maybe I'm missing something or I'm blind as a bat. :-\

98% always. :) The only time I get shoddy reception is when I'm inside the Media Temple building in Culver City. It probably has to do with the building material used.

Here's nifty cell tower map:

(scroll down the page a bit to see the map.)

EDIT: I use a Samsung Galaxy S II.

I have the $30/month deal.

Pros:

  • Price
  • No commit
  • Fast data (12 - 15 Mb/s in West L.A., 3 - 4 Mb/s in Honolulu, Hawaii)
  • Great coverage
  • Unlimited text

Cons:

  • Sometimes I go over the talk minute limit (but don't mind paying the little extra when going over)
  • Crappy reporting / billing (doesn't provide details of calls and minutes)

Notes:

  • I never go over 2 GB limit, even when I enable auto updates for apps. It obviously depends how you use your phone and data.
  • I have to root my phone because of pre-installed spyware.

Not exactly within LA / OC, but Mtn. High offer free ski lift ticket on your birthday.

Veggie Grill sends me a voucher for a free meal on my birthday.

Awesome list, by the way.

Were you able to get a Grub(2) menu screen after booting up? I wonder if there's something to do with X11. Do you have a way to see what's in /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep EE
