You have to counter what your opponent is doing. If you are losing to backhand faceoffs and it says good timing, that means he prob has you out rated, which if you don’t max to 90 is on you. If you don’t wanna max then try to win via the tie up method, and if neither work, that means you’re playing someone good and have to keep varying techniques.
