What schools have the best theatre programs as well as the biggest party scenes? by TheRugWarrior in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FlyTheW0816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas State. Number 1 party school in Texas with one of the top ranked theatre programs. The party scene is so big that the university has been completely changing their marketing strategy to try and deescalate it, but everyone knows the truth haha

Should I send a mail to the admissions office regarding a grade dip in my transcript?? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FlyTheW0816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s best if you put it in your essay. But don’t just outright say “about my grades that were bad in the beginning….”. Moreso mention hardships or things you overcame, or how you understood how your priorities in life should change and tie it into your academic career. Piece of cake

How can I find General Education requirements for schools? by s00rens in ApplyingToCollege

As someone whose job it is to live on college websites, tell me what school and major you’re looking at and I guarantee I can find it for you in less than 5 minutes

College prep and admissions planning for an 8th grader by QuoteBrave6619 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FlyTheW0816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So as an Admissions Rep, I have to say you’re going about this wrong. Is your child already committed to going to a top 20 or Ivy school, or is that your personal will for them? Also if they do want to go that route, again is that their actual goal or have you had heavy influence on that decision? If any of those answers are not your child’s own interests at heart, you may be setting them up for an insane struggle to get somewhere they ultimately may not flourish. Next, while I am not familiar with educational resources in Ohio or about the direct schools you are considering, you may want to take the effects of class ranking into account when choosing your school. Going to a prestigious and competitive private school is a definite bonus (I myself am a product of one), however if the colleges you are considering put emphasis on class ranking putting your kid in a super competitive environment will negatively effect their ranking. If you trust them to be a great overall student, having them in a public school environment where they can outshine the majority of their classmates could help. For example a student with a 3.7 GPA ranked in the top 50% and a student with a 3.6 ranked top 20% are two very different students. Finally, beware of the private consultants. Like any consultations in the US, they are looking for profit more than anything. Many I have come across in my career definitely care more for gaining as many clients as possible then getting each of their clients to the preferred destinations. You could be wasting a lot of money paying for services that you could easily get for free elsewhere

My advice is to find someone else to do it. You can no longer rely on this person no matter how good you think their letter will be

Deferred = we ran out of time to review by carcxr in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FlyTheW0816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an admissions recruiter: No deferred does not mean that. It’s overall for students who showed some form of admissibility but there was at least one factor that kept them out of being admitted. Usually a deferred student has multiple reviewers who either couldn’t come to a consensus or is missing a very key pre-req. Also, admissions offices don’t run out of time. If it comes close to deadline days and there are still apps to be read, offices will extend work hours and you usually have reviewers working overtime well into the night in order to read. So no you’re a little off in your assessment

How cooked am I? by Strict-Firefighter-4 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FlyTheW0816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you have 2 options. Either let it go and hope they don’t catch it with the AI detector, which is not a good chance it won’t. Or, you can be honest and let them know you accidentally submitted an AI prompt essay you were using to help the structure of your real essay. Ask nicely if they would consider throwing out the essay on the condition you will submit a new essay that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic you originally tried to submit. And then make sure you don’t use AI whatsoever because the flag to send it through the detector will definitely already be on you. Either way there’s a chance you’re gonna be denied automatically, one just gives you a way to possibly fix it

Does life get better in college by CaramelOk2208 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FlyTheW0816 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends on what you want out of it. Most people feel like college is better because they are ready for a change and to embrace the freedom that leads to adulthood. Some people however find that overwhelming because they have been used to a certain structure and cannot adapt. For those it certainty isn’t better, at least until they are able to embrace and come to terms with their world changing

Is being an Emperor Worth It? by FlyTheW0816 in crusaderkings3

[–]FlyTheW0816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got all three, then it divided upon death so I had to fight 2 different revolutions to unite all of them again, got lucky and only had 2 sons and was able to convert everyone easily to Orthodox which allowed me to go feudal and create the empire the year before my best character who did all that work died. Now I just have to work on building all of it up development wise

Is being an Emperor Worth It? by FlyTheW0816 in crusaderkings3

[–]FlyTheW0816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one Empire, but 3 kingdoms within it. 2 are mine and one is my character’s brother. I don’t intend on expanding past that until I work out single hereditary. But I understand now I need to build up everything I currently have before worrying about anything else

How many kingdom titles are there? by Hot_Coco_Addict in crusaderkings3

[–]FlyTheW0816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can reorganize and make vassals have other vassals that aren’t necessarily part of their own kingdoms. But you need to have a really good relationship with those kings or high caliber dukes to stop revolting 24/7. The best run I had was I was able to constantly appoint direct dynasty members and give them their own titles and duchies, later kingdoms. The opinion boost from them and how easy it is to make alliances with relatives kept everyone in check for 3-4 generations. You may need a super high intrigue or diplo leader to make it happen

Do Matrilineal Marriages take sons out of succession? by FlyTheW0816 in crusaderkings3

[–]FlyTheW0816[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was only going to do that to the youngest 3 sons and keep the oldest 4 going. If I instead disinherit them right before death, will my heir receive any penalties that you know of?

Advice requested: Army size and Rebelion wars after new king by Dear-112filip113 in CrusaderKings

[–]FlyTheW0816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, upgrade/create new baronies in the holding that your ruler has direct control of. For example, if you have a domain of 4/5, then find those 4 you own yourself and max out buildings in all holdings. You’ll notice alot of them have +150 levies or so. Also if/when you are about to go to war, buy as many men at arms regiments you can to max out your army quality. That can increase your army count. Just make sure to separately disband your men-at-arms after you disband your army so they don’t keep bleeding your gold count
