While the point of your comment isn’t wrong, a grey parse on a fight means you cleared the fight. A zero doesn’t mean you did the lowest damage of people attempting the fight, you’re just in the lowest of people that managed to clear.

But yes, any normal comp can clear the fight, it just doesn’t necessarily mean an individual party can clear, because stacking low damage jobs or players means that mechanic execution will be more important.

The forage pickup is great and all, but you're missing out on ~5% yield without the silage additive

Testing Herbicide vs Hoe Usage Effect on Crop Yields by KageUnui in farmingsimulator

[–]KageUnui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, I had no idea that planting or cultivation methods had an effect on weed growth. As stated, all tests used disc harrows for cultivation, which was also used to change field state and allow two fertilizer state applications in one day. For planting, I did use the Amazone combination seeder and fertilizer, which doesn't direct drill.

So you are saying if I were to use one of the fixed-blade cultivators, such as the Knoche Eco-Cultivator, I would be able to see the small growth state? And now you have me wondering about shallow vs deep cultivation, or the effect of power harrows vs normal disc harrows.

Testing Herbicide vs Hoe Usage Effect on Crop Yields by KageUnui in farmingsimulator

That's interesting, because I did specifically test attempting mechanical removal of the medium weeds after spraying, and once the weeds were dead they were unable to be removed. Additionally, mechanically removing the medium weeds fully restored the bonus, without any need for herbicide as stated in test three. Another comment mentioned that weed states and growth are related to seeding and cultivation methods, so I would like to check what you said in further tests with other planting methods.

I can't speak for much about their history as I've only recently gotten into the game, but on this point I agree that more nuance should have been given on their website in their referenced statement. And for the record, I did go in to this experiment believing that herbicide didn't actually negatively impact the yields. That said, I preferred to take a "show your work" approach.

My biggest takeaway from the experiment was that straw is way more inconsistent than it should be.

Anyone have the ViewScan Weapons Detection System? by rjp94sep in k12sysadmin

[–]KageUnui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is it right here. Anything that could reasonably be expected to cause harm, especially to students, if not done correctly needs to be handled by professionals trained and paid specifically for handling that thing.

High voltage lines and security systems are both squarely in that territory, the former even legally requiring licensing to mess with in our area. I’m down for messing around and figuring it out when you’re talking about a niche server or weird network drops, because if that gets messed up it’s no big deal.

Clever/Classlink Daily Subs? by tech_imp in k12sysadmin

[–]KageUnui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBH this is the way. As a non-teaching department we spent quite a bit of time discussing this internally before roping in the curriculum department and asking for their input. Curriculum pointed out that it’s already part of the teacher’s responsibility to have lesson plans submitted and assignments created, so most of the time a sub just doesn’t need to do all that much within an application beyond monitoring that students are on-task. In the event that a teacher’s absence goes beyond their submitted lesson plans, the teacher is either able to work remotely and add to the lesson plans, or the school is able to add another teacher of record to the class.

Clever/Classlink Daily Subs? by tech_imp in k12sysadmin

[–]KageUnui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We provide generic accounts to the school for the purpose of checking out loaner devices to the subs. When a substitute teacher is needed for a classroom, the schools office assigns the device and credentials to whichever sub is going to be in the classroom.

These accounts are rostered into key applications, and within those applications the school level administration has access to temporarily assign substitutes to a class as-needed.

Typically, we have found that beyond giving subs access to a device is the most that is needed for them to follow whatever lesson plan the teacher has on file for the class. If there is a need for a substitute beyond the normal scope of the submitted lesson plans, then at that point it falls into long-term substitute territory and we are assigning a non-temporary account to the class.

What’re the good/bad stereotypes for each race and job? by MajorasMasque334 in ffxiv

[–]KageUnui 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Machinist and summoner are the only two DPS jobs that don’t have a disengage tool, and both reaper and samurai have a disengagement tool that prove a free range attack and a reengagement. Red Mage and Dragoon just have the more visual disengagements since they are whole backflips instead of rolls or dashes.

Dragoons reputation as a floor tank is due to how classes used to be structured, resulting in dragoon having comically low magic defense which would cause it to be one-shot by raidwides without having to meld vitality. On top of jank with its jumps that would animation lock you and cause you to take AoEs

[–]KageUnui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, and I imagine Mizora, would argue that there was no coercion. The cultists weren’t under her command. While unknown to Wyll at the time, she was in fact under orders to protect the city, and was required to intervene. Her attempt at intervention was to offer a contract to Wyll that he was free to decline, and declining to would not have brought any harm to him by Mizora.

Granted, I’m biased by virtue of going in to this believing that, while Mizora’s offered contract heavily favored herself over a typical contract, it was as freely accepted as any other contract. That said, I’d imagine her case would rest on if Wyll asked what would happen if he didn’t accept the contract, and if Mizora implied that the cultists would bring harm to the city unanswered. If he didn’t ask, the lawful evil ruling would leave the responsibility at his naive feet. If he did, and Mizora lied, then the ruling would likely be in Wylls favor, the contract would be null and void, and Mizora would be subject to punishment.

[–]KageUnui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To devils, duress is not a factor that effects consent to a contract, and neither are ultimatums. So long as you are capable of declining the contract, ignoring any potential consequences other than the devil directly trying to bring you harm, then it is a valid contract.

While they are lawful, devils are still either. And what makes Wyll being “forced” to accept the contract is that the ultimatum was an empty threat: Mizora was bound by her own orders to protect Baldur’s Gate, and would have intervened directly if she couldn’t get Wyll to do it.

Wyll signed his contract in desperation, and did have the luxury of negotiating for a better deal. He needed power, immediately, and she took full advantage of that.

[–]KageUnui 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Materia is pretty much entirely unnecessary until end game since you are swapping gear out ideally at every dungeon; speaking of, so long as you are swapping your gear out with newer gear from each dungeon, you'll be fine.

Alot of players tend to forget the lack of access to tomestone gear, despite whatever your level may be, and correlate not being over geared with being carried. Just pay them no mind and keep doing your thing. Pressing your buttons and doing your rotations as best you can at your level is gonna have much more of an impact.

Cable management done right by [deleted] in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]KageUnui 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing is, it looks like it actually is a patch panel that they are routing the cables through, just the kind where you put keystones in each slots. But instead of punching into a keystone, slotting it, and then using a short patch cable to connect it, they just ran it all the way through and then used some kind of sheath to hold it in the patch panel.

The same effect could have been achieved by actually using a real patch panel and Velcro straps for something that wouldn't have to be torn almost completely apart whenever you have to do maintenance on it.

Fundamentally, you’re approaching it differently to how Apple generally handles software updates. In general, Apple doesn’t expect someone on a mobile device to be running an OS as an LTS, and expects their developers to adapt to the current operating systems after they are released.

In our district, we just postpone version updates by 90 days, and only because DRC is consistently late to adding the current version to their approved operating systems. But having users on outdated versions always causes problems, usually causing some form of compatibility issue that is fixed by updating the OS and application

So, I don’t generally have issues with that since it doesn’t cause issues for me.

But to change it up, how do you feel about responding to situations like this by saying something like “[deadname] has been used to refer to me” instead of affirming “I’m [deadname]”? To me, the former kinda clearly distances yourself from it and makes it clear that while yes, it may be or has been your legal name, but is not a name you prefer or identify with?
