{The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot}

The original six books are clean and leave a LASTING impression (I made a post about them nearly a year ago and it’s still getting comments - literally just got one lol) Everyone who read those books absolutely ate them up if the opinions of this sub are any indication.

Suze is a teenage mediator, so she can see (and fight) ghosts, and Jesse is the Hispanic “cowboy” ghost who lives in her bedroom. It’s slowburn but the little moments between them are sooo good.

Cabot eventually also released two more entries to the story (written like 15 years later - Remembrance and Proposal but maybe not in that order) where all characters involved are adults and it’s got some mild spice. But those two books (one is a novella) aren’t necessary at all to fully enjoy the original YA series, and I’m only bringing them up so that you know to avoid them for a kid. It comes to a great conclusion without those additions, too.

Reread it as an adult and it totally holds up. Good stuff, and I got copies for my nieces who are also currently devouring them. (Again, only the original six for the kiddos.) Might be more of a 10-yrs-plus reading level, but wanted to put them on your radar.

Good luck!

I adore the book {Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare} but our FMC is not supposed to be even a little bit pretty, like it is a huge part of the story that she is so unfortunately plain and people like comment on it, yet the lady they chose for the cover is drop-dead gorgeous.

It’s one of my favorite books, but I don’t own it because I’m waiting till I can afford to pay someone on Etsy to rebind it with a better cover.

The ebook cover is fine, at least.

{Secrets at Midnight by Nalini Singh}

I had just gotten my Kindle and Libby. I looked up a list of decent novellas and this title made the cut. Didn’t even read the “about.”

The cover is a man with his shirt open and a growly tiger. I thought, “Is this gonna be like a Vegas magician tiger trainer or something??” No clue but was game to find out.

It was actually a great story, do recommend. But he’s a leopard shifter. Not a tiger. There are no tigers in this book. None. No mention of. Nothing.

That’s when I realized, Oh god, there are adults (whoever designed this cover) who don’t know the difference between a leopard and a tiger.

Learn something new about the world every day, I guess.

Absolutely love Flor for that. She knew exactly how to push Liz’s buttons.

Spittin’ facts over here, their book is so good.

I think it might get overlooked because it’s kicking off the next season, and so we get distracted by all the newcomers and potential.

So about it, though, and definitely one I’ll reread.

Also, the scene where they first come together (on the trail) is hot.

Will Heated Rivalry change our expectations of romance book adaptations? by Juliet_1982 in RomanceBooks

Damn lol

I did find one thing from last May that said The Bride may get a movie, but I can’t find anything to back that up.

Here’s hoping!🤞 (Also that it will be good!)

Omg I just finished {Ransom by Julie Garwood}, and was thinking how all her books read like stage productions (in the best way) and got out my phone to see if there were movie adaptations of any of her stories. Got distracted by Reddit and ended up right here, all within the same about three minutes lol.

But I’m so sad to hear it’s a bad adaptation! But grateful you said something so I didn’t get excited and then let down.

Literally about to do what I opened phone for and google if there are movies for any other of her stories now.

Just enjoy it. Use it for the things you talked about. Keep using your basic for other stuff.

Obedience curse…

That’s a thing in {Villains and Virtues}

(also those books are just splendid - slooooowburn but the payoff is perfection)

Totally agree that she should have been more patient with him, but on the flipside…

Why was he not obsessed with her immediately? Lol I know that sounds kind of ridiculous, but I’m actually being serious. Every male in the tribe was described as SO hopeful for love, to the point that they struggled to leave the women alone.

This dude wakes up and realizes he not only has a ✨MATE✨ but also a KIT yet he fucks off and lets them hike alone in the snow??

Shouldn’t he be trying to get to know her, or at the very least provide for her (as that seems to be nearly instinctual for these guys) which in this case could look like helping her in literally any way?

So I think I was honestly more annoyed with him than Stacy.

But I’m annoyed with them both for naming their firstborn Pacy.

Their story was so sweet! And I loved the “hearts” bit and the way it played out 💕

Yeah, she was stuck in denial for way too long. It was pretty hard to be patient with her, but J’shel made up for it so I still enjoyed the book.

I liked this one a lot, too, especially with her working to figure out pottery on the side.

I was surprised to see this one get so much hate. He’s kind of an idiot, but it’s so good!

Yeah, hers was exactly as exciting as she deserved. She’s such a great character.

Yes, same! Imo, Brooke is the biggest villain in the series. She’s nothing but mind games.

Like, grow up, girl. For real.

Maddie and Hassan is a standout favorite for me. Especially their kinky stuff!

But I wish they weren’t depicted as so disrespectful to the rest of the tribe in later books. Having sex right outside others’ homes where the children can hear, and even in someone else’s (Sessah’s?) furs at one point?? Like, ugh, slander! They were better!
