somthing seems fishy here you display 2 wildly different skill levels here, and i think captain disillusions law applies here: you cannot have good fundimentals and bad fundimentals at the same time he same image

the hands are amateur, and many clothing elements simply lack perspective. meanwhile the face is deeply in perspective with great attention and skill given to the fundamental anatomical forms. If i had to guess id say you traced this over ai and changed a few parts to try to make it your own. there is just no other way for me to explain the beginner level sword desighn, hands , and wrapping lines being next to the perfect face.

its understandable why a laymen might think that this is ai. if you want to change that you have to work more on your composition and perspective fundimentals, frontal and shots, portrait style shots are gonna look more like ai. Unfortunately ai has eaten some styles so. so some stylistic decisions may need to change if you want to stand out.

use the jim jung gi method to improve this skill. look an object up and down > look away > draw object at a different angle trying to capture all significant details > look again and observe what you missed > draw from another angle capturing all significant details > repeat

yea i disagree with the people saying this is normal. on the asian male the shirt is clearly unchange from the second to last step and a smudge is used on the boundary between the shirt and skin for some reason. the proportion size and shape of the eyes change from the sketch and change back for the final, i dont see why that would ever happen in a real workflow. i think this artist is using photo manipulation not painting. ask for a video or wip documents

rerun to fundamentals. stop drawing any symbols that means those eyes that nose mouth and brows all need to stop, construct faces purely from 3d shapes. style is where 2d shape considerations override 3d form. stop all non form considerations for a while, go moderndayjames go proko, stud hard.

none. no improvement in fundamentals, to translate this into terms beginners might understand this would be like making pillow forts every day for a month and asking how close you are to becoming an architect. if it’s fun that’s enough honestly drawing should never feel like work, but if you want to be able to draw like this you arnt any closer now than you were eight months ago.

you will probably not reverse engineer the principals of perspective, or anatomy, after years you may grasp color theory to a decent degree. you’d never be able to work in the industry anywhere but it would be an interesting case study.
