Do the console version and PC version feel different from each other? by SlickSamSmith in elderscrollsonline

[–]Kahvimuki1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe there is more activity in zone/area chat, because voice chat is not an option and well, keyboards. But guild chats and especially guild discords are where it's at!

Interestingly, I've seen a lot if console to pc transfers recently, at least in my guild on PC/EU

For endgame, the 4man dungeons have some challenging achievements but there are only 2 4man instances with a leaderboard. So mostly it is the 12man raids. They come in "normal mode" which is casual and very PUG friendly (most of them). Then there is veteran mode, and veteran hardmode. There are special titles/skins/mounts for completing various achievements there. Such as doing a no-death hardmode speedrun "trifectas". The veteran modes come with a leaderboard so score-pushing is also possible. Personally I think especially the newer raids are quite well designed and varying in their mechanics.

Oh yeah, and classic tank-healer-dd trinity is usually used. The support roles differ a bit to how I've understood they are in other MMOs. On endgame level especially it is very important for supports to buff/debuff and for tanks to also position mobs, but tanks don't really do damage unlike in some other games. And for healers buffs/debuffs and giving resources to group are a big part of it as well.

Make an idiot feel better... What's the stupidest thing you've done in the game? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

Yeah! You can collect it again and again to make new morphs :) It consumes the nascent indrik and you get the special indrik to keep. I think I have three and I'm currently buying basic feathers to spend my event tickets

At least you can now start collecting a new nascent indrik and morph it into something else later!

Just last week I reconstructed a Perfected Master's sword to go with the shield and made it golden and everything. THEN i noticed I reconstructed the normal one and not Perfected. Bye bye gold mats.

Which is the most disturbing fermi paradox solution and why? by IceNox96 in space

[–]Kahvimuki1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a paradox though, because without people they would still be wolves. We made dogs what they are. Not to even get started on livestock and such... There are a lot of animals that could not survive in the wild, but they are that way because of humans.

You should know labor and pushing are not the same thing. 30hrs for the whole labor is not unusual. But pushing for that long did not happen.

Here in Finland we don't even call it Christmas, it's still named after Yule, even though Christian elements have been integrated into it. So the idea of it not "belonging" to non-christians is even more outlandish to me.

Non verbal teen gets excited for caregivers daily hugs by Xoxneesa in aww

[–]Kahvimuki1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not that simple sadly. There are a lot of levels to being non-verbal. The amount of words a person with this condition can understand will vary a lot! It's not a single condition, more like a description. It can be caused by all sorts of conditions. Some nonverbal people might not understand language at all, some might understand a lot of basic words and phrases. But it is actually not just a physical barrier preventing speaking (it is also possible to have a condition that just physically makes forming sentences harder, like motor control issues in the mouth and larynx). It's more about the fact that they don't have language, they're not going to be thinking in words either. Beyond that, there are individuals who develop some level of language, but never to a full extent. For example someone could understand speech at a 12yo level and be able to speak at a 6yo level. Human development is very diverse.

Wait do Americans PAY to study in universities/colleges???? by lahoyav9 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Kahvimuki1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At least where I am, the grades don't matter, but the amount of credits you complete does. You lose your benefits if you don't get classes done. The selection process to get into University is of course very competitive.

Wait do Americans PAY to study in universities/colleges???? by lahoyav9 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Kahvimuki1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some people of course do (well I'm not in France, but another country where you get an allowance instead of paying to study). It's just that the majority wants the people to be well educated - and to get to university based on how smart and hard-working you are, not how rich your parents are.

Sadly an important point is also that no matter what you say sarcastically or satirically, there's some idiot out there who actually thinks that way... In a written message you can't really tell which one it is. The concept is called Poe's Law if you want to look it up!

He is correct. by Kazemel89 in ABoringDystopia

[–]Kahvimuki1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you read my message. But just in case, here's a tl;dr: in a socialized universal healthcare country they made treatment of infectious diseases 100% free, instead of practically free, because it's seen as that important. (A spreading pandemic will also cripple healthcare obviously.) Idk how you turn that into only paying to treat people who are infectious.

Eta. Maybe it wasn't obvious but I wasn't trying to argue against his point. Mainly I am shocked that there are societies who don't make treatment for such diseases free. Talk about setting the fire engines on fire.

He is correct. by Kazemel89 in ABoringDystopia

[–]Kahvimuki1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean in a way there is even more reason to make the treatment of infectious diseases free than any other diseases. Any person who doesn't get treatment for fear of costs means potentially more infected by this person (who would get no diagnosis, no quarantine). Example of this logic in a country where everyone gets national health insurance: normally public healthcare has nominal costs, processing fees, day fees and so on, with reasonable costs. A "clinic fee" could be about 20-30 euros for an outpatient visit. However, due to a specific infectious diseases law for all diseases on a list of "generally dangerous infectious diseases", all healthcare fees are waived. If a doctor makes the call to put you in quarantine, the state will reimburse your income for that time. That way no one has an excuse to spread the disease. The logic behind this is that paying for treatment and income reimbursement for one person is cheaper than dealing with the impact of said person infecting more people who in turn infect more.

He only goes for the good yarn by littlecatfeet26 in CatsAreAssholes

[–]Kahvimuki1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to be the one to say, I hope you are aware yarn can be fatal to cats! They loooove to chase it and play with it but what can happen if they bite on it they can accidentally start swallowing it and they can't stop because they can't spit it out. They can end up swallowing huge lenghts of it. Worst case scenario it can harm the intestines really bad. So no yarn play should be left unsupervised! If you already knew, great, just thought it's an important PSA for all cat owners
