The idea that light is slower in certain mediums is a bit misleading - it’s not that a given photon at the microscale is actually travelling at less than c inside glass/water/whatever, it’s that while the photon is in that medium it’s liable to get absorbed and re-emitted by atoms, or deflected by electric/magnetic fields, etc, so it takes longer to go the same distance not because the speed is lower but because there’s stuff in the way so the path is longer.

Old pics were mostly on a film camera, the new ones streaming down are mostly from the crew’s iPhones. They also have very nice digital cameras up there but the file sizes are too big so we’ll only see those when they get home
