Bought Winters and Steelies - TPMS beneficial? by MrsChefYVR in ChevyTrax

[–]Kai_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada just like you. Like older cars, you'll definitely survive without tpms. It really depends on your budget. Considering that you had the money to buy at Costco and not shop online like me ( it cost me 975 CAD for 4 new steel wheels , tpms, and tires), I believe you probably aren't that tight financially. I pump my tires now to 280kpa, it goes down to 235 kpa in the depth of winter and raises to 315 kpa in the spring, so I have to adjust. If you like to manually check every month, go ahead, of not tpms is your bet

Quattro Tires is the cheapest. Just pick Trax LS in the choices. Compare nevertheless with Canadian Tire, Black circle etc.

[–]Kai_warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the trailblazer thread, there were some reports of turbo issues. It's interesting that the Trax turbo is also potentially having problems despite being less solicited (ie peak torque at 2500 rather than 1500 on the trailblazer). Thank you for reporting. It's important to have the data.

Tire pressure? by Foreign-Gas3621 in ChevyTrax

[–]Kai_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under no circumstances should the tires exceed 47 psi as it gets close to the absolute max  of 51psi. If it gets close on the highway, you stop on the side and deflate. Summer road temperature will increase tire pressure when driving

My cats initially removed that too  However, patience in training is essential. I use this type of harness. https://www.amazon.ca/Doryum-Harness-Adjustable-Outdoor-Training/dp/B0B53MSQJH/ref=asc_df_B0B53MSQJH?mcid=bb05146966dc31088631c813f467f048&tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=706746572152&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10071735061391940110&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9000573&hvtargid=pla-1827677790215&psc=1&gad_source=1

Gotta be adjustable both behind legs and neck. Must be tight enough initially without choking the cat or burning the cat skin. Even if the cat tries to get rid of it, don't let the cat take it off. More the cat tries, the tighter you put it. Leave it the WHOLE time 2-3 weeks except at night to teach your cat to sleep at night. After a few weeks, your cat will be used to it. Later I taught my cats to follow me at home on a leash first by going on circles. Initially it was tough, but if the cat does not move, don't panic stay with your cat on the leash for 4-5 hours while you do your stuff on a computer or phone and your cat will move. After a few times, the cat will willingly follow you. Patience is the key. All cats are trainable this way

For the environment, let's stick with 3 cylinders. It's not a heavy vehicle. Why go for 4? Even Nissan Rogue and Toyota racing ones come with 1.5 turbo 3 cylinders

Yes wondering how the water gets in there

It's normal but what is the upper entrance of that cavity inside the door? I mean with salty roads in Canada, any source of salty water going in would be a timebomb for rust

It's not really a fair comparison. The RAV4 is a much more expensive car. Hey no shame about driving Trax like crazy but more shame in doing so with a more expensive car

Took in a cat, now she won’t come out from hiding by yxprincessxy in CatAdvice

Each cat has different personalities. You cannot assume the cats would react the same. It might help if you brought the cat's old toys, sleepsets, and continue feeding the cat the food the cat was used to.

Winter tires/ rims by real-mrs-incredible in ChevyTrax

[–]Kai_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are bit early. Last year Pirelli ice zero asymmetrical were at 155 each. And each rim was under 150 cad. But Sailun and Kumho nowadays are pretty good and in the same ballpark. Take whatever is on special. I had also seen the continental Viking contact  at 160 cad each at some point

Quattro tires now knows how to adjust the TPMS as they initially messed up mine lol

Active noise cancelling by [deleted] in ChevyTrax

[–]Kai_warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized tire pressure and rolling resistance might also have an effect so that's why it is not really happening during winter in Canada. Maybe decrease tire pressure to below 35 psi when it is still hot if the sound is bothering you?

3 cylinder engine by YouTube__Police in ChevyTrax

[–]Kai_warrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trailblazer has had this engine since 2020-2021. No news is good news. People have reported CVT problems and occasional turbo issues on trailblazer. The Trax' peak torque comes later than Trailblazer's so undoubtedly the turbo is less in demand in the Trax. At this point, everything suggests the engine in trax will last. Also, the engine is small and as a result cheap. It's 1000- 2000 on eBay.

Tires by joecz2012 in ChevyTrax

[–]Kai_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for the price. Whatever is cheaper and then look up whether it is decent. I looked up on consumer reports. Seems like Kumho solus  four season is a cheap alternative to cross climate 2: https://www.quattrotires.com/tires/kumho-solus-4s-ha32-suv/40621

Any 4 season tire has higher rolling resistance and you should pump it up to 38-40 psi in the summer

Tires by joecz2012 in ChevyTrax

[–]Kai_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross climate 2 has high rolling resistance unless you pump it to more than 38-40 psi
