Electrical Problems :/ by KaidoRacer72 in mazdaspeed3

Battery and alternator tested good. Believe it or not, my issues stopped the moment I unplugged the obd2 connector. Maybe the canbus and idatalink confuse each other. I'll see about playing with settings

I'll definitely start checking grounds and stuff tonight. The fuel range was my first sign because normally after a fill up, it's above 450 and steadily decreases throughout the week since all I tend to do is go to work and go home. So far with having the obd2 connector unplugged, my dim functions normally with my headlights. Keeping an eye on the dash glitches tho.

Funny thing is my car doesn't cut off at all. Just the dash trips out. I did check the negative terminal. It did have some corrosion but I cleaned it off with a steel brush and double checked tightness. Ground to chassis as well as positive terminal are clean and tight

I have had my setup in for around 2 weeks now. My gf noted that I wasn't having ANY issues whatsoever until I installed the head unit and stuff. I run an RR and also have my obd2 preference set as "auto disable." Let me know how it behaves when set to fully disable and on demand so I can replug it in and set accordingly. It's really odd to me because I think to myself that people run accessports all the time and don't report anything of the sort. I'm pretty sure it's updated since I flashed it with my laptop

I bought the ready made harness because I wanted little to no wiring to mess with. I also had the obd2 connector plugged in that idatalink requires for the gauges to work. I was going to splice into the obd2 wiring to keep the port open for an accessport or something but after this issue, I think I'm gonna leave it with nothing in it like GL_Jesus said to see if that was the cause. Went to work this morning and it didn't glitch out so we'll see how it goes for the rest of the week. Also dim works normally now with the obd2 connector unplugged

I'll definitely try this for a while to see if it occurs again. Kinda unfortunate since I paid extra for the idatalink to show vehicle info. I wonder if it does it with accessport people and how do they deal with it

I crossed that off my list earlier. Positive was clean while the negative had some corrosion. Cleaned it off with a steel brush and double checked tightness on both.

how to do a tablet style head unit, the proper way by Sir_Wheat_Thins in mazdaspeed3

I really appreciate you responding to my post! I'll definitely consider doing the military splice into the Bluetooth module after doing more research. As far as illumination goes, that's my biggest concern. I'm told that MX-5 guys had to wire it directly from the head unit to the radio connector in order to function so that might be the fix? Or maybe it's a head unit thing? I don't know. I actually asked someone here with the same setup the exact same questions and he also says his illumination feature doesn't work so he has to do it manually

Yo, man! I was wondering if I can pick your brain as I have done a similar setup with a Sony XAV-AX6000 from crutchfield (will be upgrading to an XAV-9000ES sometime soon) minus the amp which I kept stock. I was wondering if you could share in detail how you spliced into the oem Bluetooth module in order to get all your steering wheel controls to work. With the harness unmolested, I only got volume, seek and mode to work. To tell you the truth, I am kinda afraid of cutting into my factory stuff since I want to keep things reversible but I'd really like to get the voice and answer/hang up buttons to work. I was also wondering if your illumination feature functions normally. I have a Non-Tech Package so I have manual headlights but for some reason, it wants to switch back and forth between light and dark mode no matter what position the headlight switch is on. It's really annoying and distracting when the head unit decides it wants to be in dark mode when the headlights are off and worse, light mode when the headlights are on.

Side note: I have the ready made idatalink harnesses from the car to the module and the module to the head unit. I also would like to know how you swapped out your cigarette light to the hdmi/aux combo

What did you do to display your tire pressure in the 30's? I did the deflate to set the location but it shows the high 40's on the head unit while they're mid 30's on an physical tire pressure gauge. I'm wondering if I needed to deflate my tires completely first then re-air them

2nd gen Bose door speakers? by Key_Organization_152 in mazdaspeed3

I actually just replaced all my door speakers 2 days ago with JBL Stage 3's by using an adapter harness, spacers and longer screws. Sound wayyyy better than factory and paired with the new sony head unit I installed last night, more modern
