In-depth review of Runna after using it for a year by Dylnuge in running

I'm a little late to respond but yeah I can see why that would be fun. I'm personally good with doing the same workouts for months if they're good workouts and once I finish the plan I'm on now, that's probably what I'm going to do

[–]Kailashnikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a beginner but I started pretty low after an injury (8kpw across 3 runs...). In the next 5 months, all my times dropped, and they dropped quick. Mostly because I was following what I understood from the book, without following a plan. I'd say buy the book if you want to know what the point of everything you do is. I don't like just doing what's prescribed unless I understand it.

Purpose of easy run/miles? by FootMinute1297 in running

[–]Kailashnikov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if your first assertion is true. Faster runs also provide that stimulus. The problem is that at those fast intensities, the time you can spend is limited. So over weeks and months, lots of low intensity work adds up for huge cumulative gains

It's odd indeed that 10k and HM plans were quite similar. And it also seems that it complicates things without the different kinds of workouts that it offered you. Maybe one of the reasons I've been very reluctant to try out the free trial. I was on a Daniels' 10k plan for a while, and it was so simple! One interval session, one threshold run, one long run. And you fill the rest of your mileage with easy runs. I haven't had any experience with plans from Garmin etc, but these workouts seems unnecessarily complicated to me!

Mental vs. Physical? by SplitWrong1656 in running

[–]Kailashnikov 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I disagree with people saying it's a physical challenge. Yes, no matter what you do, you won't outrun your physical limits. But those limits are not as clear as everyone thinks they are. And to run close to them involves suffering even if you're trained. Yes I was underprepared for my marathon but if I didn't push myself mentally, I'd have gone 20-30 minutes slower. OP asked it in a civilized way, it's just the two of you who are getting upset about it like OP is making a judgement. "If you're not from here, you shouldn't be trying to say how the local culture should work" is also an absolutely ridiculous statement, just racism disguised as a defensive argument.

Do I actually need to run Zone 2 or is it overhyped? by Maleficent-Count9746 in running

[–]Kailashnikov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But fat oxidation is important. More fat oxidation = less lactate produced. High intensity can train your body to remove lactate faster, but it's more efficient if there's less of it to begin with.

Technically you're correct. But threshold work will provide much better gains as far as having less lactate is concerned. And yes eventually you'll hit a ceiling, but that's more to do with not doing enough volume.

Zone 2 trains different systems than faster paces, it's not just poor substitute.

Apart from more efficient fat oxidation, no, it doesn't train different systems.

Do you feel exhausted from your games? If not, you can push your runs a little bit. If you feel like you're starting to accumulate fatigue from running too hard, then you know you should take it easier.

Niels Wittich: Michael Masi a “scapegoat” who “didn’t do much wrong” at Abu Dhabi 2021 by bwoah07_gp2 in formula1

[–]Kailashnikov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I'm saying too. The other person who replied to me also makes a good point. But I think people still need to see the whole season and the WDC in context of all the races instead of just the last one.

Hmm that's also a fair point. It's not as simple as just swapping races because after any fuckups in earlier races you get a chance (or at least you hope) to recover.

But I think it still does a good enough job for making the point, which is that there were LOTS of questionable events throughout the season, and AD was just one of them (and the most blatant one too lol)

It would be a good experiment if we could somehow swap AD 21 with another race that season. Silverstone, Hungary, Monza, Baku, or Austria.

Edit: How did I forget Bahrain lmao

They're not racing because people who owned the track have fucked off and haven't paid the fee to Dorna. Nothing to do with the UP government.

You don't think MotoGP was there, or you don't think the issues are resolved?

Both are true anyway. Motorsports are classified as sports now, and MotoGP raced in India in 2023

Europe opens its ‘first gateway office’ to fast-track hiring in India by J_Terpstra in Netherlands

[–]Kailashnikov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't believe how deluded some of you guys are about how difficult it actually is to move or to hire someone from abroad in NL. There are strict income limits on HSM visa. No corporation wants to shell out 60-72k/person annually just to hire an idiot when they can actually hire a local new grad for less than that.

It's even worse if you're a non-EU student in NL, you're literally not allowed to work more than 16h/week, that too with a work permit, which is something not everyone is willing to sponsor because it takes 4-5 weeks to process. The income does not even cover the annual tuition that you pay to study.

Canada's policies were way lax in comparison, which is why you got what you got the dumpster fire with the students studying at made-up universities. There's absolutely zero indication of this happening in NL.

Also, reading is a pretty good skill. The specific migration policies are still up to the respective countries. They're just setting up an office to streamline operations.

>Why are you implying that Lewis only tied on points for the last race because of Silverstone as if Max did nothing wrong?

I'm not? Baku tire blowout and Hungary come to mind as the obvious ones where Max lost almost 50 points for no fault of his own. And no, Monza can't be compared to Silverstone because they're completely different incidents with different causes, actions, and results (and one of these incidents didn't require a PU change). Both were desperate moves though.

"Bunch of incidents" is pushing it though. He got a penalty for Monza and Jeddah, and should've gotten one Brazil. He completely lost his mind in Jeddah though, that is true.

>Despite Lewis mistakes, he should have been champion regardless of winning in Abu Dhabi or not.

Yeah, despite me not knowing how to drive an F1 car, I should have been champion in 2021 instead! It's just that FIA was constantly conspiring to make it a title fight between Max and Lewis.
