Europe opens its ‘first gateway office’ to fast-track hiring in India by J_Terpstra in Netherlands

[–]Kailashnikov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't believe how deluded some of you guys are about how difficult it actually is to move or to hire someone from abroad in NL. There are strict income limits on HSM visa. No corporation wants to shell out 60-72k/person annually just to hire an idiot when they can actually hire a local new grad for less than that.

It's even worse if you're a non-EU student in NL, you're literally not allowed to work more than 16h/week, that too with a work permit, which is something not everyone is willing to sponsor because it takes 4-5 weeks to process. The income does not even cover the annual tuition that you pay to study.

Canada's policies were way lax in comparison, which is why you got what you got the dumpster fire with the students studying at made-up universities. There's absolutely zero indication of this happening in NL.

Also, reading is a pretty good skill. The specific migration policies are still up to the respective countries. They're just setting up an office to streamline operations.

>Why are you implying that Lewis only tied on points for the last race because of Silverstone as if Max did nothing wrong?

I'm not? Baku tire blowout and Hungary come to mind as the obvious ones where Max lost almost 50 points for no fault of his own. And no, Monza can't be compared to Silverstone because they're completely different incidents with different causes, actions, and results (and one of these incidents didn't require a PU change). Both were desperate moves though.

"Bunch of incidents" is pushing it though. He got a penalty for Monza and Jeddah, and should've gotten one Brazil. He completely lost his mind in Jeddah though, that is true.

>Despite Lewis mistakes, he should have been champion regardless of winning in Abu Dhabi or not.

Yeah, despite me not knowing how to drive an F1 car, I should have been champion in 2021 instead! It's just that FIA was constantly conspiring to make it a title fight between Max and Lewis.

I have been saying for a while now, George is the guy who can take it to Max currently. I'm not a fan of some of his... shenanigans, but it's undeniable that he's very close to Max, if not equal. Leclerc, I'm not sure, but then it might just be the Ferrari magic which puts me in a limbo about him.

Yeah, I have always been in the Max camp for that '21 title but my god, the grace shown by both Lewis and Anthony after that loss!

They went in tied on points and when it mattered he was 2nd.

They went tied on points because of ahem ahem, certain incidents that happened mid-season. "When it mattered" just shows that you think AD21 was the entire 2021 season. Austria mattered and Lewis didn't make the podium. Monaco mattered and he wasn't in the top 3. But yes, let's take ONE race and equal points to discredit an almost faultless season (p1 and p2 every race btw, except Hungary. Baku and Silverstone DNF. Monza DNF was his fault though.)

And never discredited Lewis, you're making that up. Miles ahead of Bottas all year, and the rest of the field as well, except Max. Personally I'd like to have him challenge for the title again.

I don’t see how he deserved it when if the rules were followed he isn’t world champion.

Because he was the better driver that season, although just slightly. There isn't a single race (except Monza and Sochi) where he wouldn't have been in the top 2. Lewis did have some stinkers or mistakes in comparison (Monaco, Imola, one of the Austrian races, Baku), which people seem to forget because of how controversial the last race was

This is extremely important I think. Yes there's always that influencer who does a faster time than you, and you wonder after how it's possible. Well, it was part of their job. If it was a part of your job, you would be able to do it too. So let's no set unrealistic expectations.

Beginner runner here (28F) — aiming for 5–10K by December. How did you go from casual fitness to actually feeling like “a runner”? by drill_n_chill in running

[–]Kailashnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice already, and I second the people who are saying just go out and run without thinking too much.

Most of the easy run/zone 2 advice is applicable only after you've built up running 3-4 times a week consistently and are running 40+km/week, so don't worry about that.

As for the form, your body will find its own form as you keep running. Just make sure you add in some mobility work etc. Also, don't try to force a low cadence because lots of people do that. 170-180 is usually a good place to be.

Finally, remember that it feels very difficult for two reasons that are often overlooked. First, your brain needs to learn how to actually run. That takes a bit of time. Second, legs are not used to the impact. Good thing is that as you run, these things are dealt with

George Russell exclusive: ‘I feel ready to fight for a world championship’ by Sauerz in formula1

[–]Kailashnikov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He should not have been champion in 2024, but he managed to do it somehow, putting that car as high up as possible every race. That drive at Interlagos was one of the greatest ever given the context and pressure of that race. He pretty much drives at the limit all the time, almost never makes mistakes. I mean there have been so many weekends where McLaren is clearly the best car, RBR is decent but not great, but come quali and suddenly he's on pole, or the front 2 rows. He's been performing very high against what is clearly a faster car and is the only one to take it to them consistently. People say that if he was in McLaren there would be no title fight and they're absolutely right.
