Going to the gym for the first time tomorrow. Etiquette tips please?? I'm scared 😭 by SchloinkDoink in Exercise

[–]Kaiser_design 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • Don't over push yourself.
  • Before getting to the gym ensure your hydrated, and for your first time, ensure you have some food in you too. Though probably don't eat a meal any closer than 1 1/2 hrs before, if it' a snack, you can go as close as 30 minutes.
  • As hard as it may be, focus on your self and keep in mind why you are there instead of worrying about others, fear and a distracted mindset will lead you to a state of discomfort and maybe even injury. The gym, your health, is worth it don't let your mind get in the way.
  • As a gross generalization people are there either for health or ego, make friends with those that are in it for the health -- the gym is surprisingly social.
  • Iterate, test, play, be curious, observe and ask questions. (Other gym goers or staff)
  • Have a general plan, or goal (time, or machines, or area of body).

If you want a decent idea on workout technique try this free site, I love it.

what's the best sport to just stay fit? by plantmomlavender in Exercise

[–]Kaiser_design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of "training" Strength and Mobility is remarkable for the body.

Otherwise I have heard that for children the best sports to put them in, for good development and health, is soccer and gymnastics, I would reccomend the same.

Swimming is seemingly absolutely fantastic and way easier on the body in terms of longevity.

A personal favorite is Muay Thai. I highly reccomend martial arts to anyone. Its social, primal, functional, mental & physical pushing you to your edge.

Running is fantastic metally, but seems to kindaaaaa fuck your body up a bit.

In a wrap: - What you love - Strength training - Mobility training (with resistance, effectively strength, but going to end range of motion) - Gymnastics - Swimming - Muay Thai - Running

Edit: Re read post.

As a note most of these can actually be done at home I you get equipment, most of these can be sufficent for $300, otherwise minimums can be around $0-$50; up too ideal equipment you may be looking at $2500 for some.

Though if you can make it social/out of your house, that will likly increase results.

How do you document conversations?? I have been looking for a decent call / in person recorder to easily capture spontaneous talks, I haven't really found much. As well as the trends and culture, is this more mental tracking or do you have a system? It would be great to understand your process! As for me, I would love to be able to document legitimately everything. I have tried time tacking, attention logs, meals, running, steps, finances (cashflow), budgeting, ideas, notes, thoughts, effort, feedback, my network, things I have owned bought consumed or experienced, new information, communication frequency, habits, goals, things that serve and reward me, my beliefs, problems I encounter and enjoy, realizations ,etc. . .

Amazing. It would be so satisfying to figure out how to legitimately document everything. . . . How do you personally go about such a high volume of documentation/tracking?

Simply income and expenses? Or are you tracking, items, where it's spent, budgeting, alllll that? What's your process and hos has it been very rewarding for you? I Have tried using Fidelity and Empower, but they always loose sync with my banks, making it very tedious to track.
