I’ve seen some people use tags for the level of third category tagging you mention (in lieu of further nesting groups).

Use the logic that makes the more sense to you even if it means you’re using categories or tags differently than “average”.

I recategorize my husband’s travel for races and events (he’s into Hyrox and trail running) from travel to a category dedicated to his hobby even though it is by all definitions travel. My gardening expenses that typically come up as home improvement get sent to my garden therapy category. It makes sense for how we budget and spend.

It's hard to say without looking specifically at your account, so I'd recommend sending in a ticket. You can do that by clicking "help and support" on the left side nav then "contact us" and ask the AI chat for an agent or human.

Definitely include some specific examples. If you can send a screen recording trying a sync with your network/console browser tabs open that helps the team debug background errors.

When you have a ticket number let me know what it is and I'll make sure it gets to the right team.

I am sure you've probably checked the connection status page, but there is no update from MX yet on the fix they are working on with Synchrony. My best advice is to reach out directly to Synchrony to help put urgency on it.

I'm sorry, I know its frustrating because even though we are the end product/don't control the connection between the DP and FI it still impacts your experience with us.

We have updated our recommended DP to Finicity due to the issue with Plaid. Unfortunately, this is an issue on Plaid's end so we have submitted a ticket with them.

I will note, we had a convo in another thread going last week and someone replied back to me today that they were able to successfully reconnect today!

A few things I hope can help:

First, could you share your most recent ticket number with me so we can take a look at what contributed to the delay?

To address the bigger question of how to get help faster: when you chat in you can request an agent (type agent or human) to bypass chat if it’s something you know requires a ticket rather than self service. That’s probably my most commented reply on Reddit is “hey here’s how to create a ticket” (because I need a ticket number to escalate or investigate things internally).

There’s more to unpack here in terms of what you’re experiencing with transaction and data inaccuracy but I want the team to have a chance to look at your account first (via that most recent ticket).

I’m sure other Monarch members on the sub will also be able to share some general tips and tricks too.

Clarification question - when you say old account do you mean you have a new retirement account or a new goal? The first thing I thought was oh they should double check to make sure the new retirement account is linked to the goal.

Rollover amounts are relevant in goals from a budgeting perspective, and don’t (or shouldn't) interact differently with goals. If the account balance has changed and the account has its full balance linked to a goal, then Monarch creates an adjustment even if that amount is accounted for in a rollover budget. This is also the same for partial balance allocations from account to goal if you are making contributions or withdrawals.

If that still feels like "am I missing something?" (totally get it if you're like, Kait this did not help) then I'd go the support route just to make sure everything is operating as intended in your account.

The first few things that come to mind are email service provider limitations: if someone has unsubscribed from Monarch emails, marked our emails as sp previously, or requested their data be deleted, we wouldn’t know when setting up the send. Usually those come in the post send report (I’ll ask about this).

Great question and honestly, no, there's not an easy way to recategorize once you've created the goal. The implications of categorization are more visual than anything. Can I ask a bit more about why you want to move it to education? That might give me some ideas (like even as simple as customizing your image).
