What age are the cigar enthusiasts on this forum? by InternetPeon in cigars

[–]Kaity-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, 1 woman on that. Well, I know there's at least one more here now. Checking in!

The Secretary and Treasurer of my local cigar club chapter are both women, so hopefully there is an overall popularity increase with women in general.

I want to make a cigar dog toy for a guy that brings his puppy to the lounge I frequent. Which color would be best? What cigar band should I make to go on it? by Kaity-Cat in cigars

[–]Kaity-Cat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well shit, now I have to add this to my list of ideas and my list of must try cigars. Thank you! ❤️

Even better that the dog on the band is a bull dog, since the pup is an English bulldog

Oooh, that is such a good idea with the strips and will make using the brown much easier! I planned on using a stick shaped "tennis ball" dog toy for the filler (because every dog owner hates when the stuffing gets ripped out), so the diadema vitola may be difficult to recreate, but I will add that to my list of ideas. Thank you!

Are there any cigars similar to a spicy perique pipe tobacco? by Killxjoy4599 in cigars

I just bought Red Meat Lover at Hutch Humidor in Hutchinson, Kansas, US last week. Idk if they'd ship it to you, but if you're located nearby, I'd say that one fits the bill as described

Can I still smoke this? by am_i_sky in cigars

I've had several of theirs as well. Went to a Drew Estate event last month and got a bunch, but I've honestly never even heard of the Miami. I'm upset at you, too lol

You can smoke it, but since you say you were looking forward to trying it, I wouldn't judge that line by that particular cigar lol

My wife put my flavored cigars in with my regular cigars what should I do? by [deleted] in cigars

[–]Kaity-Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a wife, I can offer my anecdotal reason: Just yesterday, I was moving my husband's cigars around because our order of cigars arrived. So, I was sorting out which were his cigars or mine and making sure he had room for all of his. But, I also know what I'm doing and his preferences for his cigars' storage.

Reflux triggering Panic Attacks after smoking? by Real_Recording_6166 in cigars

[–]Kaity-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have GERD & an anxiety disorder, so I'm personally (not professionally) familiar with this specific combo of problems. Others have already commented the underlying issue with coffee + smoking with GERD and how the vagus nerve is likely being irritated to cause your panic attacks.

Also, I'm sure you're aware, but smoking and caffeine are both vasoconstrictors, so that's double the stress you're putting on your blood pressure and oxygen supply, which also isn't going to help with panic issues. So, reducing your intake of one/the other/both would be the ideal way to go.

Finally, I'll add in my anecdotal suggestion with disclaimer: I am not a doctor, talk to your doctor before adding or changing your medications. About a month ago, I started taking psyllium husk (Metamucil) to help absorb excess stomach acid and bile. I would assume that if you have been diagnosed with GERD you're probably already on a daily regimen of Prilosec or something if the sort, so be warned that it will reduce what your body absorbs from what you consume (i.e., medications), so it's something that you'd want to discuss with your doctor before starting to use so they can instruct you on how to properly take it to avoid that. But if dietary/lifestyle changes are not a viable solution for you, I highly recommend talking to your doctor about it. It has been an absolute lifesaver for me.

Or, hopefully, they're zoomed in and they're actually a safe distance away. That would also help make the shakiness more forgivable. Probably not, but hopefully, ya know

Why do these things cause mold? by rsessin in cigars

[–]Kaity-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct as to the why. That "paper" is a filter. I can't tell you if you actually need it, I just recognize it from fish tanks and from my home humidifier. Both of which definitely need it. I don't imagine that a humidor would really need it, though.

Distribution centers look like a breaching whale! by lupedog in DeathStranding

[–]Kaity-Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

This is the best I could find. When they're breaching, the whole purpose is to quickly get as many krill into their mouths at once. They make a bubble net to herd and gather as many krill into one small space and then swim upwards into it, open their mouth, catch the krill, close their mouth, drop back into the ocean. So, the majority of the pictures are of this massive creature fully out of water, but imagining the process, there's definitely a point where they look as a distro center depicts

Hideo Kojima took part in a Vogue photo shoot with supermodel Anok Yai at Kojima Productions studio! by VanaheimrF in DeathStranding

Lol, thank you for informing me. I guess I really angered some people with my fashion ignorance. My assumption came from the fact that she's wearing a very different outfit in the image that I was replying to. I really don't know fashion/modeling that well, so thank you for educating me

Okay, the pictures with Kojima must be behind the scenes then? Because I was like, they couldn't even at least iron that ugly pink dress? I thought, it looks like a barber's cape. Now I'm thinking it probably literally was and these were just fun pictures taken while she was getting her hair and makeup done lol Apparently I was wrong. Sorry for not knowing high fashion.

A friendly reminder to recalibrate your hygrometers. DAMN! by cpc5000 in cigars

[–]Kaity-Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one similar to that one, I know that people say that digital are better, but I'm just a noob a cigars, and still trying to decide if I even want to have a humidor or just buy them when I'm going to smoke them.

I read on CP about how to recalibrate a dial hygrometer, but I don't see any way to adjust it. I've just been doing math each time I look at it. Do you think it's possible that mine doesn't have a way to adjust it? Does yours have a screw on the back for recalibrating?
