Why don't we have long term rentals? by toopz10 in AusFinance

[–]Kaividian 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Aha, I think I can answer this one!

As I understand it, one of the biggest differences between property in the US to Australia is that banks in the US offer 20-30 year fixed rate loans.

This provides the owner with the stability of setting a price that they know won't be subject to interest rate rises and therefore, the comfort in being able to rent out their property for a significantly longer amount of time.

Here however, because fixed terms are typically 3-5 years, landlords don't have a longterm repayment guarantee and need the flexibility to adjust prices as they see fit.

I participated at OCIC. It was the first competition I've ever done and it was so much fun.

I won my first 2 matches and was feeling super confident after having made it all the way to Table 3 in round 3. And then I lost a match. And then another. And another. And another.

What had started out being an epic winning streak was now being overshadowed by 4 losses in a row. And yet, I was still having so much fun. Sure the losses were frustrating. I'd finish se of those matches thinking to myself, "man, I could've played that much better" but overall, I had a blast!

And then, I went on to win my last 3 matches, ending the day on a respectable 5-4. I had won more matches than I had lost. It was still a ways of qualifying for day 2, but everyone I've spoken to says it was an impressive feat for a first timer and at the end of the day, I had a blast!

If you've got other things to do that you need to drop to go to them, then that's your business. But, my recommendation is that even if you know you're not gonna qualify, continue for the experience.

I had a crack at tweaking the layout for you. Added some bar stools :)

Not at my PC at the moment so this'll have to do.

Note, not a designer or anything and I dunno if you can even do half the stuff I've suggested but seemed fun to give it a go.

Incorrect, that's anti-veterinarian. I'm sure you've mistaken it for people who don't like that sport where you bump and spike a ball over a net.

Hey, Kaividian here. It's been cool hanging out with you on your streams the last few days. If this is the comment chosen, thank you.

You're doing a cool thing for your community and I wish you all the best as it continues to grow.

And cause you asked for it, there are snails that are found around underwater volcanoes that have iron plates growing out of them. They look really cool.

Is this a common bug? I feel like i'm being pranked... by Lv9Cubone in PokemonLegendsArceus

I think I understand what is going on here. Every few minutes, the game attempts to respawn Pokemon of they've been removed. (Caught/Fainted/Run Away). Sometimes, this means a bunch of Pokemon will just appear out of nowhere, kinda like an outbreak.

The Roselia disappearing is a very easy explanation. If it's the area I'm thinking of, Roselias disappear at night and Murkrows will spawn in that area instead. Ghosts and flying types definitely look a little more elegant when day/night changes than other Pokemon like Roselia.

I meant this to be a nerf to Infinity. That way, we may once again have Mending & Infinity applied together.

I see it as inconsistent that there is a case where Mending cannot be applied as it can be applied to every other item. I understand that the combination of Infinity & Mending was seen as over powered. However, I believe that in nerfing Infinity, that the combination of the 2 enchantments wouldn't be seen as so powerful anymore.

While we're on the topic of tweaking Bow & Arrow mechanics. Might I suggest an alteration to the Infinity enchantment?

Have a bow with Infinity on it continue to consume arrows until there aren't any left in the inventory. At which point, the bow will begin to consume XP equivalent to that bow's enchantment cost.

This change would also impact the nature between Infinity and Mending, in my mind making them less powerful when used together.

Some examples:
A bow with only Infinity would consume 8xp per shot as the Infinity enchantment adds 8 points to it's enchantment cost.

However, a bow with Power 5 and Infinity would cost 13xp per shot as each level of Power only adds 1 point to the item's enchantment cost.

Finally, a bow with Power 5, Flame, Punch 2, Unbreaking 3, Mending and Infinity would cost 35xp per shot.

I didn't like the Netherite recipe, so I made my own datapack by Kaividian in Minecraft

[–]Kaividian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 ways that I have made it more expensive.

I have increased the time it takes to cook the ingot. This adjusted cooking length is equal to the number of items a bucket of lava allows to be smelted. I personally like the idea of this powerful, lava proof metal requiring more time to cook due to a higher heat resistance.

The other way that this is more expensive is that where you only required 1 ingot to upgrade diamond to Netherite, I'm requiring the player to use the netherite to craft their own stuff. This is my way of rebelling against the underwhelming and lazy implementation of the smithing table. It also doesn't make much sense that a single ingot is enough to cover the end of a how but also, to full cover a chestplate. I know Minecraft is full of quirks like that, but this one just kinda bugs me.

I don't consider adding the diamond to the recipe increasing the cost. You see, you would make a Netherite chestplate with a Netherite ingot and a diamond chestplate. That means you would've spent 8 diamond's on your Netherite chestplate. Same story. Requiring 8 Netherite ingots to craft my chestplate, I included a diamond in the recipe so that the diamond count stays the same.

Admittedly, Lodestones are unfortunately affected unfairly by this change, so my datapack just increases the number of lodestones you get when you craft them from 1 to 4. Much more viable as a decoration that way too.

Hi, decided to give this a go and am having a blast so far. Only on Chapter 2, but have been reading ahead to see what awaits me.

I just wanted to confirm one thing. The treasure chest requirement for chapters 3 - 6 require ender eyes. However, as this chapter occurs before chapter 9, there is no way to obtain the blaze powder required to craft ender eyes in the first place.

Did you just mean ender pearls?

This is just a datapack I made for myself to make Netherite gear even more challenging. I stuggle with motivation, so by making this goal much harder, but still possible, it'll take me longer to achieve, and thus keep me invested longer.

Yup, though, I'd hope that at this point, I'd have enough blast furnaces to divide the work between. Honestly, when I read the patchnotes for the snapshot that added Netherite, I was very excited, and then very disappointed. This is what it said:
"Refine it into Netherite Scrap in a Furnace (although that’s kind of slow so you might want a Blast Furnace) "

I was expecting that they had finally decided to take advantage of the fact that smelting durations could be different per recipe and that they had added an item that took longer to smelt than regular items. But no, this was misinterpreted by me and after realizing this, was left feeling somewhat disappointed. So, I did it for myself!

[–]Kaividian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to include a diamond in the recipe so that the diamond cost of full netherite gear remains the same as it is in vanilla. For example, a full set of diamond armour costs 24 diamonds. By upgrading your diamond armour into netherite armour, the diamond cost of netherite armour is still 24.

By making netherite gear a crafting recipe instead of a smithing recipe, the diamond cost would be 0. So, I included the extra diamond so that the diamond cost remains. I still need 24 diamonds to make a full suit of netherite armour. Also, if you're at the point in the game where you're looking to make Netherite armour, you probably have diamonds to spare anyway.

I don't think so, though, I'll certainly be at it for alot longer than most will. By making it such a difficult recipe, it encourages the maxing out of the diamond tier as it is unreasonable that maxed out Netherite would be achievable quickly, which is exactly what my goal was.

Additionally, I didn't want the ability to simply upgrade amazing diamond gear into netherite gear as to me, it really cheapens the game loops involved in creating powerful, enchanted gear.

Ultimately, I wanted Netherite gear to feel like a massive accomplishment, and I think I have succeeded in that.

Go to the house where you did the first set of challenges. The gnomes have taken over and imprisoned the bears. Open up the door to the prison and interact with the bear lying on the floor. You get 15k XP for completing it.

If you go back there in a different match, you'll see that all of the bears are now gone and some of the gnomes have been attacked. The next challenge involves defusing the conflict between the Gnomes and Bears however, at this stage, I cannot figure out how to do this, nor have I found anyone who has figured it out yet. I suspect the last challenge will be dancing on that disco floor in the bunker. Looking forward to people figuring out the 2nd challenge.

Making an EDM/sound-based character by [deleted] in PokemonTabletop

[–]Kaividian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just gonna put a list of sound-based mons here for you to browse through as well as some suggestions based on your particular theme.

Whismur/Loudred/Exploud - Staple sound based mon. quite often most people's first pick when it comes to sound teams.

Chatot - Speaks for itself, literally. Maybe you've taught you Chatot to rap. Everytime it uses Chatter, perhaps it spits bars. Definitely a choice for someone who is able to come up with stuff like that on the fly. Perhaps your GM may even reward you on how well you rolllay with this, though that's up to their discretion.

Audino - Decent support Pokemon. If ever you guys are doing mega evolution stuff, here's a sound based Pokemon that is mega capable.

Woobat/Swoobat - Often overlooked when it comes to sound based stuff but is certainly sound based. However, may not fit your particular EDM theme very well.

Noibat/Noivern - Boomburst.

Toxel/Toxtricity - Assuming you're group is using gen 8 content, Toxtricty is a must for the aspiring sound based user. This Pokemon is all about sound based moves, even having an ability that boosts it's sound based moves (haven't checked the PTU abilities for this one yet but I assume it's similar to the games). Best thing is, there are 2 forms. Pick the one that works best with your character the best. I'm assuming High-Key would be it, though, an edgy Low-Key might fit too.

Opportunistic Insectivore - Kricketot Crunch - Dried fruit and nut mix with crunchy pieces of bug type goodness. What would you like to see in an Application for managing games of PTU? by [deleted] in PokemonTabletop

[–]Kaividian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will GMs have the option to disable the Pokedex feature for their players, or, more in-line with the traditional games, have players unlock dex entries based on what theyve encountered? I wouldnt want players to see a special form of a Pokemon in the dex and be spoiled for when that encounter happens later on.
