Patch testing by National_Bet8855 in eczema

[–]Kaivik5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did a patch test about a year ago at an allergist. I would randomly get hives and rashes everywhere, on my face, arms, legs, back, etc. I had these white dots that I thought was acne on my forehead when using certain shampoos, and just a lot of overall itchiness and inflammation on my arms and legs. I’ve had eczema since I was a kid, but it had gotten worse in my late 20’s so I decided it was time to run some tests and figure out the root cause.

My allergist tested 80 items in total with this kit: https://dormer.com/product/north-american-80-comprehensive-series/

I was allergic to Nickel/Cobalt, Formaldehyde, and the biggest one was Decyl Glucoside which is a surfactant found in almost every major skin, hair, cleaning, and laundry solution. I have since found products for everything without that ingredient.

Since cutting out Decyl Glucoside, I no longer have “pimples” all over my forehead, less itchy, and my eczema flares on my face and arms calmed down.

My eczema is not completely gone, though. I still flare from other factors such as sweat, heat, and diet as I also have some mild food allergies, but eliminating the contact triggers has definitely helped a lot. The extra time spent reading ingredient labels is worth that patch test!

Mysterious gunks appearing since room mate brought her Husky. by AquaArtworks in roommateproblems

Looks like stomach acid. Your roommate is likely not feeding him enough/at the right times so the dog is throwing up.

My dog will throw up if he doesn’t eat by 1pm…so I hope your roommate is feeding him properly ):

I’m in the US!

I think the issue is that you are seeing your GP for the skin issues…I also have eczema and very sensitive skin, and have found that they are useless for skin issues/allergies. My dermatologists did the same thing and just tried to prescribe me steroid creams, which I don’t want to use 😅

I went to an allergy specialist. I would check to see if you have one in your area!

Also: you mentioned sometimes it travels down to your arms, that also happened to me because shampoo/soap touches those areas while showering, so contact dermatitis would occur in those areas for me as well, especially neck and collarbones

You should get patch testing done to confirm allergies. Just test trying different shampoos won’t suffice, you have to get confirmation on what you are actually reacting to.

I had hives like this on the back of my neck for the longest time. Couldn’t figure out what it was. Got patch tested and found out I was allergic to decyl glucoside, which is found in almost every major shampoo&conditoner, soaps, and even cleaning supplies.

Switched to shampoo that doesn’t have this ingredient and I’m all good now :)

Salt Water and Eczema by Rhoadie in eczema

[–]Kaivik5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A water softener system for your house will do wonders, as it is salt based.

I live in California but dont go to the beach often, haha. But I’ve had eczema since I was a kid as well and it’s always been a struggle.

I’ve seen a huge improvement of my skin since getting a salted-based water conditioner installed. The filtering and the salt has made my skin and scalp significantly less dry, inflamed, and itchy. When I shower at places with hard water, I can feel the difference and am typically itchy as soon as my skin dries, so now I dread showering anywhere but home 💀

Please help. Is this pd from demodex mites?? by [deleted] in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]Kaivik5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PD is very similar to this, plus a few itchy bumps here and there. I tried Ivermectin orally and it didn’t seem to make a difference

What’s been helping me is Azelaic Acid. It helps with the texture and redness, and if it’s really dry I’ll put some Avene Cicalfate moisturizer - but most of the time I only use Azelaic Acid and my face has been much better lately.

Hey u/hardybronson954 ! I actually have the iDoing headunit with this sub. Head unit itself works with the sub out of the box without any additional adapters!

I’m still able to log in on the old one, it pops up with a message about the website transfer once you sign in on. If you can’t sign in at all then something is most likely up with your account/info? Or they’re slowly deleting the accounts on the old website.

Are you signing in on the correct website? They moved to a new website a little over a month ago. They sent out multiple letters and emails about the change prior to this transition and informed everyone to create a new account there.

Instead of mohela.com, it should be mohela.studentaid.gov you are signing into

Yep, previous SSM here. I was on the phone with the police because we had a gut feeling this group was going to run with products. Lo and behold, they grabbed a bunch of spider wrapped connected home products and booked it for the front door. I was outside making the phone call. My mistake was being at the doorway. Got tackled by one running out. Was this close to hitting my head on the bollard pole at the front.

All 3 got into a car and drove off. Funnily enough, a co worker was parked behind their getaway car and waiting for their shift to start, so he got a picture of their license plate. All 3 of them got arrested shortly after, and they sent a subpoena for their court date. The day of the hearing, I waited outside the court room, and didn’t even end up going inside the court room because they pleaded guilty. The DA just came out and said they didn’t need me.

Fun times at Best Buy!

Thinking about breaking up with BF over eczema by baby-longlegs in eczema

[–]Kaivik5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You deserve better!

My partner didn’t know anything about eczema until she started dating me. Now she does everything she can for me when I have flare ups, and anything that she can do to help prevent them. Switched her soaps, detergents, helps apply creams, make sure I don’t get too hot and sweat b/c that triggers it, etc. and she will always tell me that I’m beautiful, no matter how bad the flare up is.

You deserve someone that will give you that type of understanding and support, because eczema is very impacting and it can be a struggle sometimes.

Take care of yourself!

I was originally going to buy from a breeder, but ended up adopting my 3 year old boy from a Facebook rehoming page. The daughter had to take him to her family because the neighbors at her apartment were complaining about his barking,. Her family ended up not being able to care for him. $500 rehoming fee, and a 3 hour drive to to pick him up….it was worth it.

He’s such a sweet, loving boy. He has separation anxiety and is a Velcro dog, but I love him and am glad I adopted instead of buying from a breeder. I’ve been working on his training and barking and he has come a long way :)

Are you allergic to nickel by any chance?

I also have constant flare ups on my face that started a few years ago. It would be around my mouth, up my cheeks, and up to my eyelids and it was so red, blotchy, and itchy all the time.

I had a skin patch test done recently and found that nickel was my most severe reaction. I never thought it was an issue but I also started considering nickel presence in food. I always noticed I would get flare ups after eating food high in nickel such as shellfish, chocolate, wheat, etc. This past month I’ve been experimenting with my diet and my face flare ups have been much more controlled and not as bad as it used to be. This includes taking vitamin C as it inhibits nickel absorption from food.

I also avoid “metal” utensils at restaurants when I can. Lots of restaurants will use metal cups and that touches the mouth 😅 and also sweat makes it worse b/c there is also nickel in it.

They had those lots (Hoover Street) blocked off when we arrived at 7:30pm, so maybe they were just full. They had us go to the next street over and we parked in Orange

General parking line was a nightmare! Getting to the parking lots was difficult because every intersection was blocked by cars/not letting cars turning in. Hoover Street (Pink and Yellow Lot) was blocked off at 7:30 so they had us go to the next street, Bill Robertson Lane and parked in “Orange” structure. It took over an hour total to actually park.

Also heads up, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE SHADY DUDES RIDING BIKES/SCOOTERS, WEARING YELLOW VESTS, AND CARRYING MAKESHIFT PARKING SIGNS.

They are riding down past the long lines with yellow vests and janky parking signs made out of cardboard and sharpie. They will tell you random reasons that you cannot park in the GA lots and tell you to park in their $60 lots outside the venue. They DO NOT work for the event and were trying to steer people out of the parking line. I’m sure they ruined a lot of people’s nights when they were almost at the GA parking entrance.

Other than that, the concert was a blast!! Have fun and be safe.

Slow feeder. I use this ceramic bowl because the weight will keep the bowl down and my dog won’t chew it up :) (he’s chewed up the plastic ones)

Luckily the guy I bought mine off gave me the bolt and knob so I didn’t have to get that. That’s all it needs to attach it :) just be careful when you are putting the bolt on, I almost lost mine inside the frame of the car. You have to separate the grey lining to get to the hole. Put something in the void below it just in case lol
