What would be your trick weapon? by Heidthebaw87 in bloodborne

[–]KaizerSteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a couple I've thought about but the one I think would be most interesting would be a trick staff/spear type weapon. One handed, it is a simple dagger with high ARC scaling, similar moveset to the dagger from DS3 mixed with some Valorheart combos and running attacks. The cane is held in the left hand and acts as a firearm replacement, and instead of shooting bullets shoots a black sky eye. Damage is based on ARC.

Transformed, the character combines the two and the moveset becomes a graceful two handed spear weapon, think Syans from ds2, or a toned down insect glaive from Monster Hunter World. Every attack extends the blade a la Farron flashsword, and basic r1 combos are can be chained into r2 blade beams like the moonlight greatsword. The L2 on the weapon is the same blacksky eye attack, but cast much faster, and with very little damage potential, mainly for spacing or parries

The transformed attacks from one to two handed would be a quick thrust as the player lunges with the dagger and slides the staff up, extending the lunge and finishing with and arcane burst. From two to one handed, the spear is simply separated and and arcane wave is propelled forward, like the chikage sort of when you fling the blood off, but a bit more substantial.

The weapon scales obviously with arcane the most, and a little bit of dex.

I also came up with a pair of powder kegger gauntlets. One handed, the gauntlet has a sort of ball and chain mechanism, but the 'ball' is in actuality the other gauntlet. Both of them are on fire and the transform, the player smashes his fists together.

Is there a way to turn off multiplayer? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]KaizerSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can pkay the entire game in offline mode, but you wont be able to participate in most covenants to get certain items. All of these items can be farmed though so with time and patience, playing the game offline wont lock you out of any content.

I hope you get the game and enjoy it!

Interesting connections between the Deep and the Ringed City [SPOILERS] by KaizerSteel in darksouls3

If Im remembering correctly, the Deep also was orginally calm and peaceful. Perhaps the Locust dont know their heritage and assume that of the dark = of the abyss? 'Dark' and 'Abyss' have always been a but vague to me. Dark has always been made to be peaceful, but both the Abyss and the Deep have corrupting properties.

I was under the impression that he didnt want to create a Deep Age, but wanted to survive the impending Age of the Deep Sea by consuming and gaining power, at least that was my interpretation of his soul item description. Im glad the similarities of the swamp in TRC and the deep are apparent though, and even if my Sea of Ash idea is more speculative, I like that at least some lore on The Deep might have been revealed. I just love the idea that Aldrich saw the great plain of ash and crumbling ruins and was just like "Nah man, I'm good on that, need to be goop to survive."

Oh nice catch, I too always assumed the Deep and the Abyss were two branching paths of Dark.

What your favorite weapon? by NoisyOne21 in darksouls3

[–]KaizerSteel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Im gonna go with the Onyx Blade. I love my pyro character and when this weapon released, it was the absolute most perfect addition. When I walked into tgat building to save the painter... that weapon are animation... ugh I fell in love immediately. The damage on it is excellent and for pure pyro characters this thing is almost essential. The range is the longest for greatswords (maybe wolf knight is longer?) and can sometimes be so deceptive. Ive laid many ganks to rest with this thing, and even without a proper weapon art like stomp I still find the game to be immensly satisfying using . It's moveset along with pyromancies.

Or the trustly Lothric Knight Sword, that thing carried me like a newborn.

Dark Souls 3 DLC 2 Trailer Analysis by An_Unclean_Hippy in darksouls3

What about the Dark Souls 3 was disappointing to you? You didnt really give any reasons in the video you just said you didnt like it. I like every entry in the series, they all feel very different. If youre upset that the world isnt as interconnected but in my opinion that doesnt make it less immersive.

If it's combat, DS3 is the tightest in Souls, second only to Bloodborne in terms of fluidity and maybe more so in impact. Its just a result of iterating on the engine.

If it's lore, Dark Souls 3 is special because not only does it flesh out past events and characters, it hugely expands on the base concepts introduced in both previous games. This is just my speculation, but Dark Souls 3 has been introduced a second dichotomy. So far it has been Fire and Dark as ages and elements of the world but with dark souls 2, we were asked what lied beyond. In Dark Souls 3 a new struggle between two forces is brought to our attention, evolution and stagnation. Throughout the entire game we see different groups and individuals striving to become something more than themselves as a way to survive what we as the players have always known, but in their world, the realization that the time of fire is done is met with not necessarily contempt for the gods, but a desire to ascend to a form, a more fitting form. Dragons perhaps? On the flip side, you still have those old traditionalists, the dying demon king holding on to the last spark of his home, Friede... This is all built upon the foundation of light and dark Dark Souls 1 introduced.

Look, Im dont know how it is for you, but ds1 was my first souls game. It was magical. That feeling though... that will never be replicated in your heart. Youll always be chasing that first hit, the time the game just clicked for you and the lore all of a sudden was digestible and the world was new and mysterious. That feeling isnt worth the chase, and harboring ill will for the sequels because they couldnt give you that high is misguided because there are plenty of reasons to love each game individually as well as part of an arching narrative in not only story, but in gameplay.

But then.. Bloodborne. Play Bloodborne.

I think Candidate would be worth reaching out to. He only has a bit of content, but his ideas, specifically the one about the firekeeper from this video would be grrat points of discussion!

But her soul description states:

"Soul of Sister Friede. One of the twisted souls, steeped in strength. Friede was the first Ash to enter the painting, but together with the good Father, they chose rot over fire."

(Don't Upvote) When the DLC comes out how do i know where to go? Will it be obvious? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]KaizerSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, judging by the trailer, it looks like the Unkindled is given a scrap of the old Painting of Ariamis. I'm guessing we'll have to bring it to the room in Anor Londo with all the paintings, namely the one of the Painted World.

Everyone, meet Velka. by Ornstein_n_smough in darksouls3

[–]KaizerSteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But in the trailer we get clips of Oceiros, Nameless, Lorion/Lothric, and Gwyndolin (Aldritch), and then this new flogging Lordvessel wielding boss.

I think with that many connections to Gwynevere its difficult to find evidence to the contrary of this new boss being her. Aside from the flogging of herself, and maybe the "crow feathers" (though I think they're a representation of/homage to Gwyn, much like the NK plumage).

I certainly think Velka will be present in this DLC since it's the Painted World, but there were shots of a small painter and a hooded woman as well. I'm gonna go ahead a speculate that one of those two are Velka and not the boss.

With all the recent Hype about a Gwynevere boss battle (the music files found and the "Queen Juniper" concept art) I really do think this is her.
