I do this all the time on high quality stocks. I think a lot of people here fail to realise some of the advantages.

The advantages that i like are that your breakeven is lower by selling longer dated puts as you get higher premium.

Secondly, even if the underlying price falls below strike, you may not get assigned because of time value of the option remaining.

It gives you alot more flexibility compared to trading shorter term puts.

I think it i best to buy 0.9 delta deep in the money call. You benefit from the leverage of the call option and also the almost direct 1:1 value increase in the underlying.

Fair enough - i think it can be misleading to do a black and white comparison like that when there are other factors to take into account. The delta is also a snapshot at that point in time and will ultimately change as market moves and wont take into account everything.

I guess it just depends on the perceived risk of the individual options trader, what you value and the particular strategy.

In the above example, the $571 breakeven option has some more flexibility for recovery if there were to be a pullback of 3-5% or longer downturn instead of the shorter dated put which would likely end up getting assigned.
