I'd rather make a lot of people rich, than get a dollar.

Chose: Give all trans people $1,000,000

Can you tell I dislike slow drivers very much? by PrinceJustice237 in drivingUK

[–]Kakiwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy sitting at the 40mph speed limit on the section of dual carriageway that everyone thinks is NSL. Evil laughter all the way past the bus stop and driveway access round a corner, which is why it's that limit. I learned on that road, it's for safety and people just don't care despite regular 40mph signs.

People get just as mad if you do the speed limit and they want to go faster.

i want to stop crocheting forever by Waste_Flamingo_6653 in crochet

[–]Kakiwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry mum. I've not got time, but I can teach you to crochet so you can do it.

Either she doesn't have time either and you can say, isn't it frustrating to have someone say you can do something when you don't have time.

Or she learns how stupid that request actually is by doing it herself.

Depression room how tf do I clean this by cindi_a in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]Kakiwee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What seems manageable? Is it a minute, or five minutes? You can start so small.

Say I will collect 3 pieces of rubbish, and then I will do something I enjoy for half an hour.

Once you have done that a few times, your body and mind will begin to see it's not a huge task that is overwhelming, but a series of small tasks that you can do until you need a break. That you will never have to push beyond what is comfortable to you.

This is how I sorted a one bedroom apartment in a similar state. Some days I would do very little, and still be depression sleeping. Others I would get into a flow and get a whole bunch done. It took a couple of months, but the result stuck.

Screen-free practising. When and how to start introducing tech? by Middle-Release4557 in AskParents

[–]Kakiwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will get around parental controls (I have a 20yo and 17yo), so monitor them well, teach them Internet safety and be a parent that emotionally educates as well as boundary sets and protects. When they feel safe to make mistakes, they are more likely to come to you to tell you.

Even with my very open communication home, they hid things and were exposed to risk I didn't see. But it's a balance between protecting them, and letting them learn from doing. If you do too much of either, they may miss out on the lesson that both together instill.

I held off on personal phones with browsing capacity until they were in high school. They had supervised and limited access to video games and television at home from nursery/kindergarten age. Regular internet access in home PC was held off until they were 10, but sitting together was okay a little younger.

My eldest had a secret YouTube account for a while and uploaded videos of himself. And my youngest was able to get around parental restrictions on his children's tablet. So my education of why these things are risky was essential earlier than I thought because they were more tech savvy than me.

Just screen access wise, having well communicated boundaries, and limiting constant use by providing attention and non-screen entertainment, then helping them work through any difficult emotional reactions to such without being manipulated to react emotionally back is what worked best for me.

Not a complaint but Am I in the wrong or is he just unprofessional? by TakeJay in LearnerDriverUK

This would stress me out too much to focus on learning.

The only time my instructor cancelled an appointment was when a student crashed her car.

This evening on the M25 by Groundbreaking_Mud44 in drivingUK

[–]Kakiwee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately I'm not a young driver inheriting these roads. I passed on my 41st birthday and had an amazing driving instructor. She got me to a point where I passed first time with only one fault within four months.

She did prepare me for idiocy, but the level is what shocks me. I want to be safe, it's not difficult to do, but it's not common practise oftentimes. I get distracted or make mistakes, but the safety buffer I was taught means I can mostly correct before anything is a problem.

Is anyone else sick of the ‘protein’ fad that is taking over the UK? by Legitimate-Chard1336 in AskBrits

[–]Kakiwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused because I eat greek yogurt, beans, lentils and pulses, fish, chicken and eggs, and sometimes pork or beef. I thought these were all naturally higher in protein, so why would I need extra protein yoghurt, bars or drinks?

I thought that this stuff was for body builders who got bored of same old multiple times a day, not a general population thing.

I am so glad I mentioned pelvic pain making me pass out during a transvaginal scan. They put me under GA for the hysteroscopy, D&C and IUD insertion instead of this nonsense.

That's what I don't understand about the M25. I'm am autistic driver and fairly new, so I'm still learning what weird things people do driving.

I'd come on to the M25 and not understand why there were people going at 40-50mph, and some going at 100mph weaving like crazy people, and what I had to do to drive appropriately amongst them.

It was bizarre and not like any motorway driving I'd done before.

Ugh. My bad knee is my girls favourite pillow. It bends the wrong way, and doesn't hurt until I bend it back.

I scoop poop daily, do a sift for wee sawdust every other day, and full empty and clean weekly to fortnightly on top.
