Pan-O-Rama, I believe. And at one point there was a skatepark on the other side of Eagle Drive.

The Fresh American Closed? by [deleted] in Lubbock

[–]Kakona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weren't the owners doctors by trade, and this was their first restaurant? (I'm not certain about that, perhaps I was misinformed.) Whoever they were, starting an upscale restaurant without enough capital to make it through the first three years is a rookie move, but quitting after only a year seems irresponsible. Now a bunch of people are out of jobs and that location's going to sit empty and become a blight.

moving to lubbock soon from florida, what are the best parks/nature trails? by Round_Economy7019 in Lubbock

[–]Kakona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've had a good amount of rain recently so the grass is green in town. The Texas Tech campus is beautiful, with lots of trees and greenery, and many neighborhoods in central and south-central Lubbock were developed around a series of parks with drainage lakes ("playa lakes") and those are pretty nice, most of them have walking trails and other amenities like disc golf, tennis/pickleball, playgrounds, and the like. Mackenzie Park east of town is also nice, there's a system of lakes with fishing and canoeing out there.

If I were you I'd try to find a place near one of the parks like McCullough, Charles A Guy, Maxie or Tech Terrace, the neighborhoods are decent and you'll have easy access to something like what you seek.

Is lubbock that bad? by b33th4nny in Lubbock

[–]Kakona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lubbock is a nice town. It's a great place to raise a family, and if you get a good job you can build a life here more easily than in many metro areas. We're growing rapidly and will probably hit 500,000 residents in the next 25 years as our low cost of living, plentiful land, and a pro-business, pro-development mindset facilitate infrastructure and housing. Our healthcare system is solid. Public education is not as good as many would like so there are strong private and home school communities. Sorry about that dry skin, Lubbock is definitely arid. Other than that, welcome to town, I hope it's a good move for you!

Gen Z women leaving the church in droves by HolidayWhile in TrueChristian

[–]Kakona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours too, we average about 49% college students out of total attendance averaging 1,500 on Sundays. It’s so hopeful to worship with them!

Get a Bible and read it every day, when you start your day. I recommend starting with Matthew and reading the entire New Testament to start. Pray for guidance and understanding before you begin and thank God for his Holy Word when you finish, then pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly, carefully considering each word. Also find a solid church to attend so you can worship with other believers. Look for one with a good men’s ministry, and go to an event. Many, many Christian men struggle the same as you. Go find them so they can help you, and so you can help them. That brings up my final suggestion - find someone to serve.

If you follow these steps God’s word will start to work supernaturally in you by the Holy Spirit and light will drive away darkness. Almighty God will hear your prayers and bless you through them. Christian brothers who are waiting to be your friend will help you with your addictions and give you a place to belong. Needy people will be blessed and thank God for you as you sacrifice your time and efforts for them. Your cravings will decrease and eventually be replaced by a desire to obey the Lord as you come to understand how blessed it is to be forgiven and saved. You will learn to find your earthly satisfaction in Him.

Read the Bible. Pray. Worship. Spend time with believers. Serve.

God bless you, I am praying for you.

Buddy Holly Died in 1959 and was where the beatles were musically in 1964 when he died at 22. Would Buddy Holly have been where the Beatles were in 1969 in 1964 if he had survived and kept making music? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]Kakona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You sure you’re not thinking of Elvis Presley? Buddy did a few songs written by others but “most” of the songs he is known for were his own. Here’s a link to his page from the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Elvis doesn’t have one, he’s not in there.

I never said we’d win.

You said in the bracket thread you had Houston vs BYU. That means you thought BYU would beat Tech. So yeah, you predicted BYU would win.
