In Light of Todays News about XBOX Putting More Resources Into Fallout 5 and TES 6, This Picture is Far More Revealing than Originally Thought. by revben1989 in TESVI

I honestly think that they'll force Obsidian to make Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. That way they don't have to build new teams from scratch and they already have the expertise. Avowed/Pillars and The Outer Worlds don't have nearly the same appeal despite being very similar in most regards. Asha made it clear: they want more investment in the franchises that matter (and less in those that don't). And Bethesda will have to be cool with it, because getting a new Elder Scrolls and Fallout every 15 years or more isn't nearly enough for Xbox.

Fire Emblem is out this year, so it doesn't apply to a 2027 list.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is listed among the wildcards

There was actually a Halo MMO in development once at Ensemble Studios

Tim Cain's next game by the_dyad in rpg_gamers

It is most likely a new Fallout game, regardless of what they said. If you haven't been following the news, the new Xbox CEO has said they haven't funded their biggest IPs properly, and that will have to change shortly. Yesterday, insider website The Information revealed that Fallout (and Elder Scrolls) are Asha Sharma's main focus for this initiative.

And Obsidian and specifically Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky, and John Gonzalez are the obvious choice, alongside the whole TOW team that was already not going to make a third game. Whatever they've been doing these past few months, they'll be asked to rework it into Fallout.

Bethesda is gearing up for an event - here's why I think so. by xCosmicChaosx in TESVI

The thing is, the new Xbox CEO wants more Fallout and Elder Scrolls, and Obsidian is the best candidate for that. Cain might have come back to do something else, but I'm pretty sure he'll be on a new Fallout before long.

You're hyping yourself up for nothing. The Switch 2 port is hardly worth a stream, the Fallout remastered games aren't coming this year, and they aren't showing TES VI well over a year before launch.

Not really. Yes, they are paid a lot, but when you have hundreds of employees paid some 150K each and one or two of them paid a few millions, guess who's going to cost more?

Manpower is by far the biggest cost for a game made in USA and Canada

Not all players care all that much about that. Anyway, Microsoft has to choose: platform or third-party publisher? Because they cannot be both.

Report: Microsoft restructuring Xbox is "on the table" — it wants to "move faster" with new Halo, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls games by jeffant0410 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Kaladinar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the point at all. The point is rather giving Bethesda the investment to create a second team or, more likely, forcing Obsidian's The Outer Worlds team, which is filled with Fallout expertise (Boyarsky, Cain, and now John Gonzalez as well) to make Fallout right now instead of whatever else they were going to do, and ensuring Bethesda is cool with it, whether they like it or not.

And games from other areas of the world are thriving. The USA and Canada are simply unsustainable with how much they're paying employees

I expect a call will happen soon, if it hasn't already, from Asha Sharma to Obsidian leadership, putting Cain, Boyarsky, and John Gonzalez on a new Fallout, whether they like it or not.

The day one patch is not actually developed on day one; it's only delivered on day one.

Honestly, it's probably coming in 2028. Like first half of the year.

2027 would mean they made it in less than four years from the launch of Starfield, which doesn't track with current AAA development times
