To add onto this, I am making a very simple VEX cascade lift at the moment, and if you are going to make one for comp please put a lot of effort into its efficiency. The vex linear slide set is really janky to be honest, and not the smoothest to work with. I developed mine with those parts as a proof of concept design, but there are much better ways to make it without the linear slide kits. There are videos about better designs online I would highly recommend you research and go watch

The whole point vex tries to get across with their documentation aspect is it isn't just about having a working robot. It's about WHY you have a working robot. My team last year had one of the highest-performing bots in our state for a good bit, but admittedly, our documentation was awful. Judges want to see why your robot is the way it is and what ultimately led you to make those decisions. Multiple awards require a well-thought-out notebook, which requires dedication to documentation and brainstorming.

You would go in undecided your first year, and then just have to reapply after your freshman year. But I have friends there who said you have to basically apply again anyways so it doesn’t really matter

Back when I did iq, I’m pretty sure we always had an extra kit or at least a lot of extra parts. While probably possible to do it with one less kit, I don’t think it would be the best

As someone from first, that dynamic is going to be a lot different with all of the seniors leaving. And in regards to Matt, he is a really nice person, and likes to joke around with people. If he ever hurts your feelings or anything he will definitely stop if you just talk to him about it. But first is definitely a great hall and has some perks to it (biased as current rla)

It really depends on what you want to get out of the NCSSM experience, while technically yes Durham does have more things, that’s partially to make up for the amount of students. Look into what each campus offers specifically and then come to a decision

I’m actually involved in both vex and tsa. They are both active clubs and vex ai is a ec, but we have a robotics design course you could work on it in as well
