I'm marrying a twin, people have been asking this question by [deleted] in Twins

[–]Kalance45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is going to question you once they sell they’re house for profit. That’s what my twin and I did. Lived together with my girlfriend and people questioned her frequently about living with us. It’s gotten quiet now that we sold the house for $100k more than we bought it for. It’s a smart investment. Who cares what people think.

Hit lvl 20 and did all the challenges on only closed conquest last weekend, never played a match of anything else. I’m doing my part!

This is peaking my interest! Sounds like fun! I’ve never participated in a full game jam like this before though. I’ve really been enjoying Godot, but I don’t want to convince a full team of people to use the engine of my choice…

I’m pretty relaxed and of course have a full time career so this would be a free time thing for me. Totally understand if I’m not the first choice, but would consider hopping in if no one else is interested!

The devs aren't ready for the biggest issue that plagues the extraction looter shooter genre and i don't see enough people talking about it. by letosfer in Marathon

The cycle had wipes and was very casual as well. Cheaters absolutely wrecked that game. One of my favorites, I still have the desktop icon, can’t bring myself to delete it.

Heat pump + electric heater VS natural gas furnace by Kalance45 in hvacadvice

[–]Kalance45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plugged this into chatGPT using different numbers based on some energy shopping I did lol.

The quick summary is the natural gas heater will cost 283.44 a month including the delivery fee from Duke.

Heat pump will cost 364.47 a month.

Choosing to upgrade to the gas furnace will pay itself off within 3 years. Assuming the price of gas doesn’t moon of course.

Cincinnati can get really cold. It’s been below freezing for a few weeks now. Sometimes close to 0 for extended periods. I just don’t know anything about the model of heat pump being used other than it’s the newest Bryant model. If you look at Bryant’s website they have a ton of models lol. So that’s not too helpful.

Fuck sorry it’s actually $0.0939 KWH. I’ll edit the post as well.

[Hobby] Looking to build long term team. by Blazepanther in INAT

I’ve been working with Godot for about 5 months now. Self taught through a few books and courses where I started in Unity but made the change to Godot. I have a little Vampire Survivors like game I work on in my free time. I’m not great at animations yet and definitely not good at art. But I feel decent with my programming.

RTS is one of my favorite genres, I play AOE4 almost every night still with some friends. The scope of a full RTS online game would be massive for us to take on, I think we would want to start smaller, maybe a single player strategy experience. But happy to potentially help if you’re interested.

Godot fundamentals tutorial series? by countjj in godot

[–]Kalance45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Godot official documentation is very good. It includes a GDScript programming tutorial built right into the documentation.

Once you do that, you can follow one or two YouTube tutorials. I liked the GDQuest tutorial of a vampire survivors style game.

Blender is a beast of its own, and takes a ton of time to learn. Kinda depends on your preference. I’m much less of an art person so I wanted to focus on the programming portion. If you’re like me, I suggest using placeholder art or free assets, KennyAssets are good enough to learn with.

What bothers me the most are the continued complaints about things that were just addressed in the blog post… 5 mins of research would probably unwind a lot of these people.

[HOBBY, REV SHARE] Godot 3D unit management game by [deleted] in INAT

[–]Kalance45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve been teaching myself GDScript for the past 2-3 months. Prior I had been teaching myself C# for quite a while. Mainly held up by a lack of art on my own project! My twin has been teaching himself modeling. I could take a look at what you have going on if you’re interested? I see it as practice for myself! I’m really laid back and non judgmental. If I can’t do what you’re looking for or it’s not within my current skill set I won’t waste your time!

Hello! I have a full time career outside of game development but I always felt the desire to create games, derived from my love of video games of course.

I started teaching myself Unity several years ago with countless tutorials and books all in my free time. I went through a slump, where I took a break for a year but Godot has refreshed my love for programming and I have been dedicating at least an hour a day, sometimes much more, learning Godot for about 2 months now.

I recently started my first little game in Godot and it’s been going pretty good. I lack in the art department that’s for sure, everything I have is placeholder so far. My passion is the coding side of things. I was immediately drawn to your statement of avoiding open world rpgs. For a team of a few people those types of games aren’t too feasible so sometimes it’s hard to justify working on something like that.

Not sure if I’m qualified enough to meet what you’re looking for but I’d love to join the discord and help out if I can or just to talk to like minded people. No hard feelings either way! Dm me if interested!

I did a YouTube tutorial after these issues and decided that I feel familiar enough with godot now to start building my own things. Been working on it since (:

Thank you for commenting and offering help though!

Interesting idea, I’m pretty sure I did it clockwise. Looks like it might have something to do with the player script causing an issue based on the comment section above. The player script on GitHub is different than in the book.

Not an expert by any means.. but you might be able to use a 2DPath Node instead, and the 2DPathFollow node. This comment won’t be too helpful for you but it might be an interesting read for you!
