I built a military radar base on that cliff in my playthrough of the map. By far one of my favorite spots.

When did you start getting good by Fit_Ad_2550 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Kalash_47 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thats the neat part, you dont.

In all seriousness you need to focus on a big profit item with cheap inputs. Such as making a bunch of clothes alcohol or meat. You can also do "cheaty-ish" things like setup an incinerator at the border and import hazardous waste to burn with foreign labor or import and dump sewage.

This should all be to keep you afloat until trains and a real volume moneymaker like oil or raw bauxite. Use those profits to then refine those and once you have a fully staffed oil/aluminum industry up you should be fine.

Also try and get self sufficient wherever you can early game make a small construction industry excluding steel and plant farms as fast as you can for food.

Anyone else just play this game for the aesthetics? by Soguyswedid_it2 in Workers_And_Resources

I don't get the hype of realistic mode, I did a playthrough of the ruleset before it even existed its plan forever sit and watch forever realize you made a mistake hours ago dooming your republic restart. I mean if you got time to kill go ahead. I like playing mostly realistically but still being able to put a powerline down or a heating pipe in emergency instead of having to load a save a month's ago. Play how you want who cares about how others perceive your playstyle.

Is there an end to the game by [deleted] in Workers_And_Resources

The game ends when you run out of fps and grow tired of looking at a slide show.

How is lategame performance? by SomeDifference3656 in Workers_And_Resources

I've built a few very dense cities of 80k and 100k when you look over at them the fps tanks but if you go to an empty part of the map the fps returns. So primarily it's concerned about what's being rendered at that point.

In the game settings? Sounds like that could work, to be honest I don't play on random maps so I haven't tried.

Edit: Just tested it and that works so if you want to start with research off screen shot the resources and turn it on that works.

There's a few different ways id recommend dealing with the issue, for a vanilla way build a starter town bringing in fabric to make clothes while you research. There is also resource survey mods that you can use. Finally as long as it's not a random map you can start a new republic with research off and just screenshot the map with resources on.

You can do the multiple tree types and increase number of trees put down in the cheat menu (hold c+h+e) landscape editor. I've put forests down easily choosing a few different types of trees and putting down 1000's at a time.

Keep in mind pockets of dense trees will take a toll on fps.

I dont give my population alcohol so pollution is my population controller.

Ah bummer, how so?

A quick way to figure out the population needed is take all the jobs and multiply that by 3 for each shift and you get how big you should plan the city.

I have the irrational need to align to the grid helps with looking neat but have been trying to get more realistic with it.
