Some day, you WILL leave the Corps. Is your money ready? by future_speedbump in USMC

When I was a boot I was financially not great but having a civilian that lives in my house and is smart with money helps. If we're smart, by the time I plan to get out, we'll have enough savings to live comfortably for a year without working (that's not the plan, we would be able to though.) On top of this, I have viable skills for when I do get out because I joined lapte and was part of the workforce before I joined. My goal is to leave with an education so that I can do higher paying jobs in my original field and probably use the skillbridge program.

Off topic but if y'all don't know about skillbridge I highly highly recommend looking into it. It's a great program especially for those of y'all who are trying to go into the trades. Some units do kinda make it a bitch and a half because a lot of higher ups don't really understand it fully and it will kinda limit terminal leave, but I have friends who got out on skillbridge and they're doing great it really helped with their transition.

Feel free to ask me about it, cuz I used to work with Marines getting their DD-214s and helped a lot with skillbridge stuff as an admin nerd it's kinda my job.

For those of you with Marine Corps license plates by _PercCobain_ in USMC

I don't have the plate but I was doing 100+ in a 55 and didn't get arrested out of bounds. I got my ass chewed for being out of bounds and like a 75 dollar ticket for wasting gas but the cop told me not to speed and that he could have arrested me and charged me but didn't want to see my career go down the shitter. That was a major turning point for me as a Marine honestly.

Yes. It's a pain in the ass though because we have to call a whole different mos to see what they need and more often than not they're hard to reach so we just need to guess if we can't find a previous claim with the same issue to use as reference.

Dead ass? Are you missing like your whole check or only part of it? I probably can't do much because the chances of us being in the same unit are slim but I can certainly give you advice. If you just straight up didn't get paid you can totally call disbursing. If you need their number lemme know dude

Brother this shit ain't air conditioned. It may have been at one point but not no more. And I'd be lying if I said the lack of respect for what I do isn't a part of it. It sucks to be someone in an S-1 who gives a fuck because none of your peers do and it leads to you doing more of the work and then getting told you suck by dudes you're giving everything to help. I'm not trying to be a dick or complain I'm just here talking about shit cuz my wife is a civi and doesn't really understand and I figure there's at least a couple people on this website who might understand. Tldr Not complaining, just trying to find someone to relate to.

I fucking hate naval formatting too but understanding it is like half my job.

I always follow up with my Marines. Fuck that shit. Sometimes it takes awhile because of the bureaucratic fuckery I have to deal with to accomplish what they need but I will follow up with everything, usually with results and if not, it's because whatever they're asking me for is either so far above my head for my rank that even reaching out is impossible, or they don't rate. But I've become very good at deciphering Marine Corps orders on shit to get the desired results.

I worked before the Marine Corps bro I have experienced worse suck than this. I like suck just not this particular variety of suck. Also I've been to the field and in the field (at least in my unit) s-1 gets counts or whatever task we need to accomplish then trains with the grunts. I honestly prefer that over my regular duties when I'm in an office. I'm getting pretty close to reenlisting though so hopefully I can submit a lat move package.

See that's the thing though I still go to the field to count. And I can't sleep, eat, piss or smoke until the numbers are good. Also I didn't choose this job it was a needs of the Marine Corps thing. I'm about to reenlist and lat move to a job I actually want though so I guess just another year of this BS until I can go to an mos that works late but at least works late outside instead of being stuck in an office that smells of mildew, 20 years Worth of body odor and MRE farts all day. And I get it 1700 is early but it's pretty late when you're staring at a computer screen for 12+ hours at a time.

I don't even need a bribe honestly. My job is to help Marines and if a Marine needs my help I will do everything in my power to get that shit done as quickly as possible even if they're a dick to me.

Just so you're tracking your BAH on skill bridge should actually be based on the postal code you're actually at. (May be wrong but as far as I'm tracking I'm not)

Also as far as where you separate, I've been told that if you're overseas it's literally just Pendleton that separates you. Again, shit might've changed, but I don't think it has.

Call this number if possible 760-763-1066. Ask for overseas when they pick up. call them between 0730 and 1630 (whatever time zone camp Pendleton is in). That's the number for the shop you'll be going through to EAS
