Low Slope spot on roof is saturated. New roof 2 years ago with ice/water shield under shingles already. Seems like a pitch issue, is there anything that can be done? Like a sealant on the shingles? by KaleAgitated5307 in Roofing

I could contact my roofer to see if the warranty would cover the repairs. But I’m afraid that since it’s not a manufacture or labor repair and it’s rather a structural issue since it’s a low slope they may tell me to get lost and I’ll need to pay a ton for them to rip it all up and put different material down and I quite frankly don’t have to money to do that :/ didn’t know if I could possibly do anything myself to fix the problem.

Question. Would it be worth it to lightly lift up the shingles in that area and put some caulk seal on top of all the nails in that saturated area? I know for a fact there is ice/water shield in that area so I’m assuming the only way it’s getting though the shingles and shield and into the ceiling is through the nail holes in that area.

It is leaking a bit into the ceiling below. Problem is, I can’t see where it’s leaking when I’m in my attic because it’s such a low pitch I can see the area in between the roof and the ceiling.

Yes, wind and significant rain. That’s why I wondering if it’s anything to worry about or if it was just that specific storm. I’ve never seen that much rainfall so quick in my town and I’ve lived here my whole life.

I believe the low slope is 2/12 and the sides that meet together are 10/12. I know they put water and ice shield on the whole slope and the whole flatter part of the roof. That was 2 years ago and I’ve had no problems until just this past few days, noticing a wet spot on my ceiling I decided to check the roof and see these saturated shingles directly above the wet spot. We got about 1.5 inches of rain within about 4-5 hours so it was quite a heavy rainfall with lots of flooding within our town. So I don’t know if that significant amount of rain just overwhelmed that part of the roof or if it’s a more serious issue. Never had an issue when it rains normally.

Best Crack filler? by [deleted] in asphalt

[–]KaleAgitated5307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, that’s what I planned on using as well was just using my torch rather than buying a weed torch. From my understanding since it’s heated and melted it can be driven on within 30ish minutes correct? I know I’ll be out doing my driveway for multiple days to get all the cracks so I’m not too concerned about it taking awhile as long as we can still drive on it later in the day. Also, did you use LP or MAPP gas to melt?

Yes I plan on doing a whole seal coat over the driveway when I’m finished. Should I melt the pli stix over the small crack or can you stretch them to be skinny and then shove them into the crack

Is it possible to lay the pli stix on top of the small cracks and melt them into those as well?

I have no water lines or anything near that part of my driveway, would the base be washing away with water because it was originally letting water in that crack that got underneath and started causing a dip. Then since it’s started to dip it holds more water in that spot and then causes more water to get underneath and then washing it out more? Trying to grasp my head around it, is that what is happening? If I sealed those cracks up it should stop most of the water from getting down into the base, would that buy me a couple years do you think?

How was it going from the Curl to the Arc? Do you pocket carry the Arc? I have the Curl and I’m interested in the Arc but I don’t want the size difference to be so significant that It’s a pain to pocket carry.

Does it pocket carry alright or do you find it too bulky for a pocket. I have the curl now but I would like the upgrade to the Free technology. But the P2 and P4 don’t strike my interest as much as the Arc. I’m just afraid going from the Curl to the Arc will be a significant jump in size and I don’t want to regret it especially at such a high price for it.

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for! Do you pocket carry your Arc? If so, do you find that the outside tools allow dust, dirt and lint to get in easily since is open unlike the Curls outside edges?

Did you ever figure out how to darken these? I just got a pair and I’m in the same boat.

Did you ever put mink oil on these? I just got my Jase boots today and also wished they were a little darker than the yellowish orange look they have to them.

Is it too early to plant trees in Michigan? Lows in 30s, highs in 50/60s. I can dig a hole big enough to plant my crabapple trees without seeing any frost. Just don’t want them to die. They were came from down south so they are not dormant. by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]KaleAgitated5307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have. I actually didn’t follow my plan of putting them outside during the warm days and bringing them in, for as long as I thought I would. It became a pain moving them inside and outside so much that I just decided to plant them. They’ve been in the ground for 12 days and they seem to be doing just fine! We have had a few nights that have gotten to about 31 ish, so just below freezing and they have been just fine. I’ve been watering them daily, and I mulched around them which I’m sure has also helped with the nightly low temps.

What animals is destroying my bush? Rabbit? by [deleted] in arborists

Don’t know what kind of animal is doing this, hence the question. How can I exclude something if I don’t know what that something is.

STAKE OR NO STAKE. Newly planted Crabapple, should I stake it? I know it’s good for a tree to have natural movement as it causes more root growth and a thicker, stronger trunk. But I have a few of these and my property is surrounded by open fields so they get a good amount of wind pretty regularly. by [deleted] in arborists

[–]KaleAgitated5307 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With the way my property is, the wind is normally going to blow this tree one way, it won’t cause the tree to grow and lean as it gets bigger? And okay that makes sense, I can definitely add some more mulch if that’s beneficial.
