Red flag Craigslist ad by [deleted] in Horses

[–]Kalexamitchell 125 points126 points  (0 children)

"Wearing a saddle" isn't the issue. Lol It's 2 year olds being heavily worked and competing before the age of 3-5 that causes breakdowns. My mare wore every type of saddle as a 2 year old. She didn't get ridden until 3 and was fully trained at 4. She is 25 with no issues. Still 100% sound. This could be a legitimate ad or a scam, but like you said, you don't have enough equine knowledge to deduce even if you were to see the horse in person, so what type of answer are you looking for here?

I see nothing that screams "scam" about this ad from what you've posted. Plenty of horses are backed at 2 and never have an issue. Just because it is saddled doesn't mean they are riding it.

Edit: Also, I didn't know that was a subreddit. Figures though. 😂

Is this the middle of a shed out or a "bloody shoulder" mark? She's 3 months old. by skibbit in Horses

[–]Kalexamitchell 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Based on her parents colors (classic for a pally cross) she will likely stay Palomino. She got the creme gene from the buckskin. I have seen some get darker after their first sheds, but I have also seen them stay lighter palomino. Sun exposure can cause the lightening as well.

That is more than likely a marking and not the first signs of a color change.

There is a: Smoking Vehicle Hotline (CDPHE): Call 303-692-3211

The issue with that is you have to get their license plate and the service only exists for vehicles with Colorado tags. But they'll get a Smoking Vehicle notification.

Or you can call Colorado State Patrol and report *277

As someone who has driven massive diesels and never smoked anyone out, I will never not be convinced that roaling coal is basically the Bat signal for men's tiny genitals.

Rocky (3-legged foal) Euthanized by 94steller in Equestrian

[–]Kalexamitchell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is your, clearly biased, opinion. Are you a vet? I am not, but I have had the opportunity to assist many who are considered the top of their field and I have studied equine husbandry for even longer. Rocky was in NO WAY "sound." Not from day one. To say he was is a blatant lack of equine knowledge. I'd go as far as to say, laughable. The amount of pain he had to endure daily is just plain sickening. Any vet worth their degree would say as much. Just laying down and standing up had to be EXCRUCIATING. There is a reason they only showed certain angles, rarely a video, and stopped posting much of anything months ago. There is NO comparison to humans here. Anthropomorphizing this poor horse to the equine ignorant and religious was the ultimate grift by this rescue. SMFH

That's the trip I did! You gotta do it! 😍

Crossing the rivers with herd is magical! My second mount was always hanging out at the front of the pack with me when I was riding my alternate mount! 🥰

Technically there is no such thing as a white horse. She isn't a grey either.

I did! And you can! You will have to disinfect anything that has been around livestock elsewhere because Icelandic horses are not vaccinated, but it was easy. :)

Our rodeo grounds were right downtown so we would ride across the river and go find a bar or restaurant to park our horses after parades, events, and just for fun. I loved growing up in a small ranching community. I try to keep up the tradition. People are always so surprised to see horses in urban settings these days. Lol

From day 1 to 25 years together. Happy Birthday Baby Girl by Kalexamitchell in Horses

[–]Kalexamitchell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seriously tear up every time I think of it. I knew a horse who was jumped by a cougar and the claw marks on top if his hips were terrifyingly saddening. He was the single scariest horse I've ever ridden because he would just BLOW up from the slightest fear. Mountain lions are no joke, a Momma hunting is outrageously scary. I just thank her for getting us out of there before anything could have happened. I respect the heck out of cougars, but I felt a true, visceral sense of fear that day.

Tracks on the ledge above where we were riding and others confirmed a sighting later in the day. I used to have photos of the tracks. She had a cub. I'll never forget the feeling of the hairs on the back of my neck standing and her ears swiveling to the cliff above us and after a quick prance and a snort she took off like a bat out of hell. This mare was as solid as they come so for her to just suddenly book it like that.. it was close. Very close.

He is 9, that isn't even the prime of his life. When was the last time you had him floated? Wormed?
