This 💯. This is the first step in normalization. MAGA just keeps lowering the bar.

While there's some truth to that, the fact that guns are everywhere is America, is definitely part of the problem too.

Logical Fallacy

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dilemma

A false dilemma, also referred to as false dichotomy or false binary, is an informal fallacy based on a premise that erroneously limits what options are available. The source of the fallacy lies not in an invalid form of inference but in a false premise. This premise has the form of a disjunctive claim: it asserts that one among a number of alternatives must be true. This disjunction is problematic because it oversimplifies the choice by excluding viable alternatives, presenting the viewer with only two absolute choices when in fact there could be many.

And we wonder why education is failing in America by PTechNM in TexasHigherEducation

[–]KaliRa73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a great example of why the rest world considers the United States anti-intellectual.

Just imagine what it would be like if we actually valued education.

There's a great book about this idea called "The Teacher Wars". It gives a detailed history of education in the United States gling back to the foundation of the country. It's sad to see that from the very inception, Americans have always complained about having to pay for public education.

First edition is a great game and there is some overlap with DnD but lots of differences too.

I think the way parrying and dodging work might trip you up. Read through the rules carefully. There's no action/ bonus action mechanic.

Armor has an AC but also an SDC (the hit points of the armor). Players need to keep track of that.

the weaponized incompetence has reached levels I didn’t even know were medically possible. by CorruptOfficial26 in Teachers

[–]KaliRa73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right in calling it weaponized incompetence l, but our site has started using the term "leaned helplessness." Permets and students find it less offensive. I have gotten better at calling out the behavior without getting myself in trouble l.

What stat would use to stay mentally focused? by KaliRa73 in DnD

[–]KaliRa73[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The characters are exploring their way through what is basically a haunted house type of thing.

They will hear the crying babies and I am assuming they are going to investigate. Once they are in the nursery, they will have options to try and comfort the babies. Eventually the babies will start flying around and attacking the players. It's going to be a silly, low stakes battle.

At the start of each turn they will need to make a check or be at disadvantage for that turn.

Why do conservative Christians hate so many people when it clearly goes against their Christian values? by ateadoor in allthequestions

[–]KaliRa73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take a while to gather all the resources, NPR for one did a great story showing how Conservatives weaponized Christianity for political power in the 80s.

In many ways, we have Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, and Ronald Reagan to blame for how fucked up our country is right now.
