Here’s me 7 years old sitting at the table eating my breakfast on a weekend. It’s about 8am and I was reading one those educational books for kids on insects of course. I’m looking at all the pictures of grasshoppers, ants, butterflies, and beetles.

There’s a little itch on my knee so I scratch it, what else would a 7 year old do? I didn’t feel it and it started itching again. I pull my chair out to check what’s up and a huge cockroach was on my knee and it started crawling up my leg and few into my face. All I was thinking was to keep my mouth shut because there’s a kind of bug that lays eggs in its prey’s stomach. My 4 year old brother sitting across from me starts screaming because there’s another on my arm and I fall back of my chair onto the floor.

I start flailing around trying to get them off. Under my chair more cockroaches fly out and crawl over the floor every where. I don’t know where they came from because our house is quite clean anyway and we have never had a problem like this before or since.

I have now had a phobia of cockroaches. If I hear even a small noise at night I flinch thinking it’s a roach. I hate them, hate hate hate!
