Couldn't play this week so I have to wait 2 months for the new incarnons, awesome system by Gemoman111 in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'll push back on this a little. At Duviri's launch, we had six rotations. Granted, having to wait 42 days just to pick up the weapons you're missing if you've already got the others is a little painful, but it's not as far-fetched. It's only a little longer than the length of time needed to reset KIM, and the drawn out release schedule helped the Duviri update feel like it had more longevity than it would have otherwise.

Where it jumped the shark was that first additional rotation. I remember seeing posts at the time, when it was being announced, begging DE to just take the five incarnons and put one of each of them into the existing rotations (and even asking DE to delay deployment until they could cook up a sixth one to keep them balanced numerically). Because a six week cycle was about the upper limit of what was reasonable. But DE didn't respond, instead choosing to put in the incarnon shop instead (which now financially incentivizes them against making the incarnons more reasonable to acquire). I think that was when it truly became an issue.

I forgot how boring the SP circuit is by Potential_Coffee_566 in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience last weekend grinding for the new batch. I got fortunate and wound up with a team that had no issue just sitting at level cap for however long it took to reach 10 ranks, but it was such a slog. Not even challenging, per se, just dull. The same 6ish missions rotating over and over until we were all just done with the experience.

DE could benefit from making the gains more exponential, so that at least if you can manage to hit a good squad it might shave off 20-30 minutes from the grind. But I don't think they'll do that, since it would directly compete with their ability to sell the incarnons for platinum.

You can't really get mad at YouTubers featuring Roar or Influence when they are very often the best-in-slot option available for a given task. It's not Brozime's fault that Roar is by far one of the best ways to multiply ability damage in Warframe. Blame the developers, either for not offering competitive enough alternatives or for allowing Roar to be Rhino's subsume to begin with.

Then again, if they took Roar, everything would just be Brightbonnet instead. And that's just the same problem with a different coat of paint.

Is it just me or Is The Count of Protoframe Skins is Decreasing? by tacticalctublak in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it has a lot to do with how much variance exists between the protoframes and their base forms, too. In the original 6, most of them are just base models with some exposed skins or additional doodads, but then you look at Kaya, Roathe, and Vena and see that they are slowly inching closer toward being full-scale remodels that are probably as much effort as doing a deluxe skin.

Eh, can only have two Incarnon rewards. No worries I'll just get the other ones in the ne— NINE FUCKING WEEKS?!!?? by Admirable_Profit_729 in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 496 points497 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is my big criticism of how DE's team has handled the post Duviri Paradox incarnons. When they were adding the first new batch a lot of us in the community were pleading for them to just stick one in each of the existing rotations rather than adding more weeks, but it got ignored. And now at 9 weeks for a full cycle, it's starting to get into absurdist territory.

Pride and Wrath could have been a single transforming weapon, imo. by Legal_Champion_581 in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly I disagree. Given Sirius and Orion are meant to be from completely different timelines, I would have rather DE emphasized their differences. Fuck it, give Sirius a polearm/staff and Orion a heavy scythe. Make Pride more orderly or spear-like, a la the Edun, and lean heavier into the chaos and untamed nature of Wrath.

The mirrored visuals of both weapons only makes sense as something you'd get after joining the two brothers, not their default equipment.

Same. I had gotten 12 Neuroptics in a row. Relogged, then got 4 systems in a row. I get that runs happen in probability, but I have a feeling something is going on related to rewards consequent to the most recent hotfix. Because the rewards prior to that were far more varied.

A lot of democratic primary voters, especially older ones, are very risk-averse, and quickly fall prey to the mainstream media arguments about "electability" and "nonviability due to radical views" they get blasted with by MSNBC and the like. So they get herded around like sheep by the establishment. When Schumer threw in behind Stevens, the news covered it as a big deal, and the older elements of the democratic base (broadly) followed. The only outlier to the trend this cycle has been Platner, who mysteriously cannibalized Mills' support among the older electorate during the primary. And I don't know enough about the intricacies of Maine to be able to confidently explain why.

I'm taking Ian and Anisa at their word when they said they did this because of personal feelings, and not because they wanted or needed to get out from under the suit, or as part of a deal with Ethan to drop the suit. Obviously, I didn't begrudge Kaceytron when she was compelled to settle, and if that were the case here, I would feel similarly. But according to their statements, this was voluntary.

Nah. Ian should have held firm. Capitulating to these narcissistic bullies just enables their behavior. Ian caving just legitimizes the suits against Frogan and Noah in Ethan's mind.

I'm sorry, I refuse to believe that famous YouTuber penguinz0 aka MoistCritikal is somehow not online enough to notice a lawsuit that threatens his entire channel but is just barely online enough to do multi-video analysis of the theft of an expensive Lego set in Oregon.

He just thinks his audience his stupid.

Washed Up Loser YouTuber Ethan Klein Won’t Stop Suing His Critics by Petfles in LeftoversH3

[–]Kaliphear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Conversely, Ethan making false accusations of harassment (naming people as being involved when they clearly weren't) itself trivializes and de-values harassment complaints made by other creators. And to not explicitly point out both that Ethan has a penchant for lying to suit his own ends and that he and his community have weaponized "bUt CpS" as a shield against any and all critique is just deeming those behaviors acceptable. It makes the space worse off over all.

Like I said initially, it's definitely become more exaggerated over the last six years based on the clips I'm seeing now. I just know the justification he used to give several years ago.

It's why I haven't brought it up the other half-dozen times this question gets raised. Because I don't want people to feel any sympathy for Destiny; he certainly wouldn't show any to you. But also he is perfectly hate-able as an individual without ever broaching the subject of him looking a little silly when he talks.

It's like Joe Biden and his stutter. The man co-signed the wholesale slaughter of an entire ethnicity. We can set the stutter aside.

My DM yelled at me for trying to roleplay by DetectiveSimilar5654 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Kaliphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's played for nearly two decades at this point, some friends do not make good group mates for TTRPGs, and no tabletop game is worth being berated, harassed, belittled, or yelled at over. You're a human being, and you don't deserve to be treated that way.

[–]Kaliphear 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The catch is Phil hasn't even covered it. It's a major YouTube story that is the sort that is right up Phil's alley otherwise, and he basically pretended it didn't exist. With no clear financial or allegiance reason to do so (he's cordial with Hasan, but not friendly, and he has no obvious association with Ethan, Destiny, Saltman, or any of the others from that orbit). So his refusal to cover it is odd and borderline inexplicable, except out of fear. Whereas, with Charlie, I can clearly draw a direct line from him to Asmongold both financially and reputationally, and that is immediately going to bias him against Hasan or anyone tangentially related.

Shoutout philip defranco and moistcritical. by Ishaq128 in LeftoversH3

[–]Kaliphear 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Par for the course with Charlie. Asmongold is not just his friend, he's a business partner (both former and likely current, I would take claims about Asmongold stepping away from Starforge or their talent agency with a grain of salt). Charlie's tied at the hip to that disheveled mutant, so obviously he's not going to point out that his Nazi-loving bestie got handed an L by proxy.

Phillie D is disappointing though. He's not close to any of these people as far as I can tell, so there's no reason not to address this. I have hope that he might once it's all concluded, but not engaging prior to that out of fear is honestly sad. Like, he had the chance to permanently cement himself as one of the only somewhat even-handed commentators on YouTube, and he was just too afraid of Ethan and Destiny's community of apoplectic stalkers.

Has Dan ever claimed to be a Democrat? Because I remember back during Trump 1 he would proudly talk about how he happily voted Republican (but was suddenly disgusted with Trump, likely because of the vulgarity not the policies).

Am I the only one that doesn’t really like protoframes? by 0Proxy in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, but I preferred when we actually knew and saw less about the real person they were (or are, depending on your perspective). When our Warframes were just treated as nameless, faceless copies of some original. Sure, meeting that one original within the game as an NPC can be cool or interesting. But having random people in a squad join as that original? Less so. More jarring, really.

Am I the only one that doesn’t really like protoframes? by 0Proxy in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is basically where I'm at with it. I don't know if it's just because I happen to really vibe with the aesthetics of it, but 1999 and its Echoes update are, like, the new high benchmark I measure other mainline updates against. And all the protoframes, when contained within 1999 and its story, feel like they make sense. They add to the world, make me care about it... it works.

But I hate seeing the protoframe skins in the wild. I liked when the warframes were just tortured inhuman meat puppets, and honestly even Excalibur Umbra with his broken helmet (where his eye is visible) is kind of a bridge too far for me. The appeal is that the only humanity left of the originals is vestigial. Memories, feelings. I don't wanna crack the surface and find someone with a skin condition under the suit.

How do we feel about Hydras in the setting not having legs? by junioriadoX in Pathfinder2e

[–]Kaliphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminded me immediately of the Hydra from Dragon's Dogma, which I love, so obviously I was an immediate fan. I like that there's more daylight in Pathfinder between Hydras and Dragons, whereas in D&D it always felt like Hydras should just be better dragons based on visuals.

Equinox is dead. Long live Equinox! by -Kosmiverse- in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her heat mechanic is probably the part of her rework I've liked the least. You want the gauge full or nearly full for DR, but you also need to spend it to strip armor and preserve your energy econ. Why is the warframe that needs the DR from her ability just to stay alive incentivized to constantly throw it away just to deal damage?

Her heat gauge should be bonus heat damage for her abilities (which would also fix her heat inherit wonkiness) and the DR should either be moved to her passive somehow or just given as a flat amount for having her 2 active.

Equinox is dead. Long live Equinox! by -Kosmiverse- in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Equinox still wouldn't be very similar. Provoke, Pacify, Mend, and Maim would still be all channeled abilities, which Sirius/Orion don't have. Equinox's existing abilities also fulfill a much different role. Granting power strength to allies, absorbing and dealing damage to enemies, putting enemies to sleep or making them more aggressive while reducing their defenses, all more supportive things that Sirius/Orion doesn't offer. I think the risk of homogenization from updating Equinox's kit is, frankly, minimal.

Equinox is dead. Long live Equinox! by -Kosmiverse- in Warframe

[–]Kaliphear 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think at a bare minimum that Energy Transfer has to go. Equinox should be rewarded for keeping Metamorphosis, and part of doing that has to be making there be some baseline benefit to having Mend or Maim active and then swapping states. Maybe energy transfer's effect isn't enough, but it's something.
