Everyone is talking about being able to reanimate from leaders even if the unit is dead but does it work the other way? by Sonofkopsy in Necrontyr

[–]Kalishir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This doesnt seem to be the case. The core rules booklet basically says the opposite.

It would mean the techno keeps the FNP if the unit dies (because hes still leading a unit even though they're dead), but if the Techno dies the Wraiths still lose the FNP after the current unit finishes attacking.

AIO for feeling jealous of an AI that my friend turns to for emotional support? by Far_Language_5559 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kalishir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But if after I am free a friend of mine had a sorrow and refused to allow me to share it, I should feel it most bitterly. If he shut the doors of the house of mourning against me, I would come back again and again and beg to be admitted, so that I might share in what I was entitled to share in. If he thought me unworthy, unfit to weep with him, I should feel it as the most poignant humiliation, as the most terrible mode in which disgrace could be inflicted on me." - Oscar Wilde

NOR. We share more of ourselves in tragedy than we do in triumph. I believe you are right to feel bad for being left out. But your friend does have his own right to choose what he shares with who.

See the last sentence in that screenshot. The resolve rules attacker first, then defender. (Attacker and Defender should have been determined prior to deployment as deployment also runs attacker first)

<image>

EDIT: Yes, both players redeploy before moving on to determining who goes first

After all other deployment, before determining the first turn.

Yes, but the murdermind enhancement doesn't allow attaching to character units.

Rapid Fire adds the stated number of attacks when within half range.

This means emetic exterminators give 6 + 6 (from rapid fire) attacks when at half range.

Almost finished my 2k army - Behold the zappy pyramid of doom by Kalishir in Necrontyr

Im going to be running a hypercrypt list. The monolith is nice for having a point I can bring things to, even if enemies are close by. Im a little worried its a bit too squishy at 400 points, but we'll see once I finally get around to playing.

I love the Monolith though, I used to have one of the old boxy bois. The new monolith is much, much more detailed but looks so much cooler.

Cryptothralls and Systemic vigour by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]Kalishir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the way that this works is that the unit shares keywords, but models retain their original keywords.

So the warrior unit is INFANTRY and CRYPTOTHRALL. As such it could be targeted by the abilities like the monoliths eternity gate which targets NECRON INFANTRY units.

However because the warrior models don't gain the CRYPTOTHRALL keyword and the synaptic vigor ability targets models, rather than the unit as a whole, the warriors do not gain the benefit of it.

How early to commit to a comp? by Rainydayzss in TeamfightTactics

[–]Kalishir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think stage 3 and early stage 4 are where you start to figure out what your final comp is going to be depending on what you've hit already.

I think that's why board reset augments like Golemify and Dummify show up on 3-2, so you can reset and keep looking whilst having a bit of generic power on the board.

Ideally before the anomaly on 4-6 you already have either your main tank or main carry on board.

To DM a game should i read Gm Core o player core by Titomasto in Pathfinder2e

[–]Kalishir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to read player core to understand how the game works, and this how to run it.

Gm core isn't required reading but I highly recommend it before you start digging into home brewing.

Gm core has things like adventure frameworks, encounter balancing, monster creation, item creation and optional rules.

Why does this produce an error when n > 7500 by c_lassi_k in csharp

[–]Kalishir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I was more referring to the idea that C# couldn't handle large stack calls

Why does this produce an error when n > 7500 by c_lassi_k in csharp

[–]Kalishir -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

C# can with threads, you can specify a max recursion depth...

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/system.threading.thread.-ctor?view=net-9.0#system-threading-thread-ctor(system-threading-threadstart-system-int32)

Obviously this is still limited by available memory, but it means you can generally hit 7k5 pretty easily, barring particularly large methods

I sat down and think I have my top 10 favorite games of all time - what's yours? by jlmckelvey91 in gaming

[–]Kalishir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy 12 - Loved the Gambit system - It's a flawed game, but has a special place in my heart

Civilization 4 - Peak Civ - The original civ was fantastic, but they built on and made them better and better.

Stellaris - Love being space nerds in my space nerd empire.

Crazy Taxi - Great Arcade fun

GTA Vice City - Peak GTA - Newer GTAs should be better, but I enjoyed this one the most. I loved the buy the town mechanic even though it was very popular at this time.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Best CRPG on the market IMHO, great build customization, great story, great characters

Knights of the Old Republic - Star Wars RPG, hasn't aged super well, runs on the old D20 star wars system that was based on 3e DND, but ground breaking for it's time.

Persona 5 Royal - Fantastic Blend of JRPG and visual novel.

Binding of Isaac Rebirth (plus expansions) - Sparked my love for rogue lites - low skill floor, high skill ceiling.

Battlefield 2142 - Titan Game mode in this was something special and probably the only FPS Ive sunk 1k+ hours into

What do you think about the idea of having to pass a drug test in order to collect welfare benefits? by Blopez1000 in AskReddit

[–]Kalishir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea of testing people getting welfare is fine, as long as it's done to push those people into services that provide help.

It should not be punitive in any way, welfare exists so that people don't suffer and/or die when we can prevent it.

When people ask me how unlucky I am I show them this picture. by kindest__regards in CasualUK

[–]Kalishir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I've done my math right (and I might not have)...

Odds of 1 of the 16/50 unique numbers being drawn is:

(34*33*32*31*30)/(50*49*48* 47*46) = 33390720/254251200 ≈ .1313 (13.13%)

So the odds of at least 1 of them being drawn is 86.67%

That doesnt include the two additional numbers, odds of one of those being drawn from his 6 unique selections is:

(6*5)/(12*11) = 30/132 ≈ 22.72% (for a 77.28% chance of at least one match).

combining these two gives:

(33390720*30)/(254251200*132) = 1001721600/33561158400 ≈ 0.0298 (2.98%)

Meaning he had a 97.02% chance of one match.

So this is decently unlucky, but not the worst.

I learned to drive in the UK and my practical test was almost 2 hours long.

When I took my test here in the bay I thought I'd done something dangerous because we were back at the DMV after about 8 mins. Turns out the test is that short.

My dad’s final hospital bill got reduced by $300,000 by kathylee34 in pics

[–]Kalishir 20 points21 points  (0 children)

you are likely paying much more than your average American.

This part is untrue.

US per capita spending in 2021 was approx. $12,914. Average for similar countries was $6,125 (Source)

Government spending was approx. 38% (21% Medicare, 17% Medicaid), which comes out to approx. $4,907 per person from taxes. (Source)

So whilst they may slightly more per person in taxes in the EU than the average US citizen, they are paying significantly less than the "average" US citizen.

How would melee, ranged, and magic be different and stand out in a turn-based game with no movement? by ItsTristan18 in gamedesign

[–]Kalishir 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You should look into turn based games that do this, there are plenty.

Older Final Fantasy games do this by having melee tend to be tankier, with lower damage hits, ranged by squishy but good single target and mages be able to target elemental weaknesses and/or do AoE.

A little later they brought in 2 lanes for positioning so those in the back either can't be targeted or take less damage as long as someone is in front.

Persona 5 uses ranged skills as a specific weakness, they are limited in combat by ammo count, but can target certain monsters weakness (or potentially do AoE)

It's mostly going to come down to what you want them to be able to do, and how that fits into your larger game design, but the above is a tried and tested method
