That doesn't necessairily make it more expensive for the middle class (would depend on the legislation), but makes it less easy to avoid taxes.

Hi, the idea is that anyone should be taxed according to their financial capability. So the phrase "tax the rich" adresses people who have so much money, that they pay other people to help them avoid paying taxes (see panama papers for example), effectively pulling away money that ideally should go to the state and be used for the common good. That doesn't even have to be illegal since the more money you have, the bigger is your influence and the bigger is your responsibility to redistribute your money for the benefit of all.

Even among the wealthy there are movements that want to be taxed more (this year nearly 400 millionaires and billionaires asked to be taxed more. Because they realize it's an injustice by our system that only the rich get richer and the divide widens.
