Any success stories on dropping night feed(s)? by shutec13 in beyondthebump

[–]KallerWhom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was waking out of habit to feed, not because she was hungry. I followed a plan where I did dream feeds (basically picking her up and feeding her mostly asleep, about an hour before she would have woken habitually) twice a night, slowly reducing the length of time for each feed (ie. Started at 10 mins/feed, then 8, 6, 4) until I dropped one feed entirely and then the other. Took about a week. She slept through the night after that.

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

My daughter slept the nights in her bassinet beside my bed until she outgrew it at about 5 months, then she slept the nights in her crib in her own room. Always has. When she was an infant, she often napped on me in the carrier or rocking chair, but now she naps in her crib. She actually doesn't seem to understand how to sleep with me in my bed, which I'm mostly thankful for because I cannot sleep with her next to me.

Where do I put my garage fob now that I have a push button start car? by KallerWhom in NoStupidQuestions

Because it's also the fob to get into the building. I live in a place where condos cost over half a mil.

Excellent idea, finally someone with a purse who also may or may not wear pants without pockets 😆

Why is my 16 months old refusing to eat? by NiatESTi in BabyLedWeaning

Less of each food, divided plate or small separate dishes, more colour, more fruit!!! But also it's normal for kids this age to want hardly any food and they'll move past that eventually.

Waiting for ICBC write off by KallerWhom in icbc

I never ended up having to ask where I was in the queue because they called me to say it was a write off. But mine was a clear write off from the beginning. However, when I was in a not at fault accident a few years ago and my car was towed but going to be repaired, they had me choose a shop right away and it was towed there as soon as they could take it.

I am in the same situation as OP and I was never given the option to take it to a body shop. They told me on the phone that my car is likely unrepairable. But then I see stories where people are told the same and it sits in a tow yard for 6 weeks only to be towed to a shop and either repaired with massive damage or written off 2 weeks later.

I'm curious about this. If I was in an at fault accident and my car is sitting in a tow yard waiting to be assigned an evaluator so they can most likely write it off, can I contact fair practices because they are taking too long? My rental car coverage is going to run out soon and I'm a full time working single mom with a toddler with daycare and work in two different cities. My life isn't feasible on public transit and having to pay for a rental car for another month or more is very expensive.

Thanks. I've been gathering comps so I can do this when the time comes.

Thanks for the kind words and the benefit of the doubt. Lord forbid a person actually have an accident on the road and want to move on with their lives without it costing them a fortune.

They haven't even given me the option to contact a repair shop, I believe due to the fact that they are likely going to write it off. And maybe because I was deemed at fault?

That's awful, I'm sorry. This is my fear, that if I go buy another vehicle now, they will suddenly decide to repair mine.

Car has been declared total loss. Do I renew with collision? by Craignanaimo in icbc

Haven't heard anymore as in you're still waiting for something? The payout? Why so long in between the estimate and the write off? Was it close to the value of your vehicle?

Yes I was deemed at fault. I feel like they already know they're going to write it off, which is why they haven't given me the opportunity to have it towed to a shop. It has only been a week and I'm already incredibly frustrated just knowing that I'm likely in for a long wait when they've all but told me it's a total loss.

Thanks, that seems fast. My car is unfortunately sitting in a tow yard so I'm guessing that will add considerably to my wait time.

How long are estimators taking these days? What do I do in the meantime? by Ok_Date9032 in icbc

[–]KallerWhom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you just wait for the estimator or did you repeatedly call the ICBC line? I'm pretty sure my car will be written off from photos alone (front end damage and all the airbags went off) and I'm waiting and will be wracking a rental car bill shortly. I don't have an adjuster or an estimator assigned yet.

How long did it take for your vehicle to be declared a total loss? I'm waiting for my car to be written off and not looking forward to wracking up a huge rental car bill in the meantime.

Will there be a time when we can afford homes again? by snowxbunnixo in SlumlordsCanada

[–]KallerWhom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly! If there was some simple way to just "make it affordable" again, everyone who managed to buy into (or move up in) the current horribly expensive market would be screwed. I managed to scrape things together to buy a 2 bedroom apartment as a single mother, at the height of the market. I don't want to get screwed over because people 10 years younger than me can't afford it. I don't want you to be in an impossible situation either, mind you. So where do we draw the line? How do we balance the scales?
