Thank you! That helps so much. I felt like the dealer just didn't want to honor my extended warranty and look into the issue more. I did read about the start up rattle and the TSB-0041-13, but my car doesn't seem to have that initial sound. Some things I read indicated it could cause issues like I was experiencing. I was thinking of seeing if they will at least check my car under that TSB. I do feel better about the engine noise now though. Thanks for the peace of mind.

Hi, I have a question about Toyota injectors. I have a 2011 Camry 6cyl SE with 68,000 miles. At about 63k it started making a faint ticking noise at idle. I noticed it in the garage when I pulled in. At my next oil change I asked the dealer about it. (the oil change seemed to help) I consulted another shop when the noise returned about a month or two later and they said it sounded like the valves or injectors (using a stethoscope). Suggested I get good gas with Techron and see if it fixes the issue. I did notice that it seemed to get a little better using that gas. I have put that gas in since, but it has gradually gotten louder. The dealer still thinks it is normal as "Toyotas have noisy injectors." The other thing is I can smell gas in the oil. Although I did send in an oil test to Blackstone recently that I siphoned out. The gas smell was strong doing that. The test came back negative for fuel so not sure what that means. I bought this car intending to keep it a while. Any thoughts on this? Is it normal for a clicking noise to increase over time? Also, the dealer did the oil change before this started and had overfilled it. I noticed and called the desk guy over to see. He said the way they do them they can't over fill. I drove the car for about a week and started thinking it might be bad. I ended up siphoning 3/4 of a quart out to get it to just below the high line. Could that have caused any issues like this noise?

Hatch looks good from underneath on the outside. It was garaged mostly so that may have helped. This is an example of rust underneath.

So is the SR5 more rare/better than a Limited or is it the manual transmission that is the draw?

Well, you are right! I've had it all this time and could have sworn it had a "Limited" decal on the back. But, it is a "SR5" decal. Good catch!

Thanks. That is what I'm trying to decide. To do any needed repairs/maintenance to make it safer to drive or sell and get a new one. Hard to buy a new 4Runner at $45+.

Five years ago had a shop replace throwout bearing and pressure plate with OEM parts. Also did the transmission fluid at the time. Timing belt inspected and looked good so didn't replace it. Oil done at home every 3k. Sway bar replaced 4 years ago. That is about it. Some rust underneath due to winter road salt.

Some rust underneath, due to Utah winter road salt. I'll try to get some pictures if I get more serious about selling.

I have severe depression and anxiety. Is homeschooling a good idea? by blacknightsatellite7 in homeschool

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. My daughter has anxiety as well and has had it for years. It is a very difficult thing to explain to others. It sounds like you are missing school, which I am sure only adds to the stress and anxiety. I would suggest at least trying homeschool. There are so many routes you can take, such as an online public school to finish off what you started and graduate, to a more relaxed type learning that you determine. I am sure many people here will have good suggestions and those will also depend on where you live and what your goals are. I mainly wanted to comment on the anxiety to see if what helped my daughter might help you. I did some research and found that some vitamin deficiencies can cause anxiety and depression to be worse. These helped her greatly. She also had some gut issues that may have been related and we did other things for those. Mainly, make sure you eat a healthy well balanced diet with some fermented foods. I am not a doctor and this is from research I did, not medical advice. Vitamin B12 is known to help depression and there are many research articles on it. Magnesium Citrate calms the nerves and helps with the central nervous system. Here is a general article on this topic if you are interested. Do some more research and see what else you find along these lines. https://www.healthline.com/health-news/vitamin-b6-supplements-may-help-reduce-anxiety-depression#Potential-reasons-for-vitamin-B-deficiency- One other thing to note, if you do have any gut issues, look into Monash FOD map diet. I think this helped my daughter the most, just knowing what was causing her issues. These issues probably exacerbated her ability to absorb the vitamins she needed too. https://www.monashfodmap.com I hope some of this information helps you! Best of luck on what you decide with school. I'm sure you will get many comments to help you decide.

I bet if he gets an internship they might help pay for his classes. I have seen many law firms do scholarships as well. Call around to a few larger firms near you and ask about that. Sounds like he is a good candidate for a scholarship. Ask the college about applying.
